👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Very nice work and clear explanation, sir👍
In particular, I appreciated the use of multilayered Milliput to simulate marble nuances, stunning!
With just a bit darker turquoise and a more scattered and stretched black, the outcome could easily resemble the Italian Carrara Marble, a very renowned marble type of ours.
Keep up your good work 😉
Thank you very much 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼

Jim

Very creative idea for the vase. Looks really nice! I have been turning Sapele a lot lately. Got some kiln dried blanks at a good price. It turns out gorgeous and have you noticed the wonderful scent it puts off while turning? My wife loves when I walk by while turning sapele.
Thank you very much Tom. I love the way Sapele looks once turned but I don’t particularly enjoy turning it, I have developed a bit of a sensitivity to the dust over the past few years. I think I now associate the smell of it with sneezing and itching. Kiln dried Sapele tends to be very dusty to work with as you will have found.
Cheers
Jim
@@JimsonMakes I definitely get some sneezing, but haven't had any itching problems from it. You are correct, though. Quite dusty. I wear a respirator while turning. My face shield and glasses get coated with the dust in minutes making it quite the pain. Constantly wiping that off so I can see what I am doing.
Yes I always wear a respirator too. It is my eyes that get itchy.
More brilliance, thank you :)
Thanks Howard , much appreciated

Thank you very much Clive, this technique certainly has a lot of possibilities.

You should put those beautiful milliput shavings into resin for a piece.
The shavings tend to crumble into dust if you try and do much with them, they do look cool though when they first come off the piece. Thanks for watching.
Cheers
Jim
Excellent idea Jim! Love it
Thank you very much Phil
Cheers
Jim
That was fantastic bit of a process. The vase was great too! 😎

First time viewer, very nice vase, loved the colors. Is it able to hold water for live flowers? Thanks for sharing.
Thank you very much Shawn. It could hold water if the inside was coated with resin, which shouldn’t be too difficult. Many thanks for watching
Cheers
Jim

Cheers
Jim
Nice working, amazing..u are awesome man 😍👍
Thank you very much, much appreciated
Cheers
Jim
That turned out really well in the end. Luckily the mortice blew out before you started hollowing, unlike what happened to me today.
Love the miliput colours, not sure that they suit well with the Sapele, but that's just my personal taste.
Great project.
Thank you very much Paul, sounds like you had a calamity. I have just had a huge fail on a long term project, trying to work out a way of finishing it.

Jim
Very clever, as usual. I love milliput but at approx. $10 per pack it does start to add up. That said, I am looking forward using the new colors.
Thank you very much, Milliput is a lot more affordable here in the UK.
Cheers
Jim
fabulous piece jim did you hollow out into the sepele if not then its a useble vase take care
Thank you very much Maggie. The Sapele is hollow and if I sealed it with resin then it could be used as a proper vase.
Cheers
Jim
I don't know if it would hurt milliput but to get rid of foam you could pour lacquer thinner in there..
Using solvent would work and should not affect the Milliput. I did consider this as a method but it would be messy and more costly and pose a problem with disposal of the waste. It would be good for a more tricky shape but the foam was easy to remove on this piece. Many thanks for watching.
Cheers
Jim
