The fact that the foundling that got kidnapped by the sky creature is the same one who almost got devoured by a sea creature makes it even more obvious that this planet is just not safe to live on.
Isn’t this still Nevarro or did I miss something?
@@The_Worst_Warlock Definitely not Nevarro.
Want kind of attitude is that?
Its a temporary settlement. They move to different locations every season
Thats a good thing for mandalorians. Keeps them on edge and ready to fight.
I really like how the Mandalorians picked a planet where everything is trying to eat them. That seems like something the Mandalorians would do.
Best cover- no one would think to look into the heart of a predator-infested world for them.
Maybe it's the type of place so when does lease to look, the wildlife provides natural defense, and its environment service is excellent conditions to teach children survival skills as well as to conditioning mentally physically. Think like something like the fremen from dune or certain death worlds that space Marine chapters from Warhammer 40K recruit from.
@@larrypilime5964 I think that’d be the number one place to look for mandalorians
I also imagine it doesn't have many natural inhabitants because everything is trying to eat them... So.. it might be a "we don't go there" kind of place to everyone else, and thus ironically... a safe place to hide.
Ikr
The scene with them getting the creature babys out of the ship with a piece of flesh was so much like a lego game cutscene. I don't know wether that's good or bad though.
LITERALLY LMAO
I say a little of both
Classic Lego cutscenes are good the ones now with forced humor is bad.
Like the classic ones shows things without dialogue but it sends the right message across. The newer ones just shoves humor to distract from the actual scene. Doesn’t set the right tone n so on
They fed them the mom haha
@@KrazyJohnny how u know
they never called it shriek-hawk they called it a raptor. when the armour said shriek-hawk she was talking about one of the teams of mandalorians in the covert. ya need to rewatch it
This is correct
Came to say this.
This is the way
Yeah, whatever this parrot dragon thing is, it's NOT a Shriek-Hawk. The armor called for members of the "Shriek Hawk Team", not the creature itself. Also where would they even get the distinct Jaig-Eyes pattern from this creature IF it was a Shriek Hawk? It had no distinctive markings or eye shape, nothing, to indicate the origin of that pattern. This is just another as of now unnamed creature. We still don't have a canon look for the Shriek Hawk, and we only just got a canon GLIMPSE of the Mythosaur.
By creed, one does not speak unless one knows. This is the way.
Maybe this season is supposed to be focusing more on the traditional aspects of the mandos? Or revealing parts of the ancient mandos.
One can only hope.
Well SW fans are never pleased. Andor didn't have enough aliens here are to many creatures... But the thing is that it's literally the perfect because andor was focused on the human aspect and how they were crushed by the empire and kickstart the rebellion and Mandalorians are actually using a lot of creatures as insignia and quite literally Mythosaur is their greatest achievement so it has a lot of sense to me personally. But I guess that people will always find something to complain.
To be honest I personally blame a lot of UA-camrs on the constant complaining even when they make really good things.
@@rebellion-starwars True...I was really happy to see so many new things and mandalorians working together as a group in action...they really are masters of ground and even air combat, its no wonder they could take down such legendary massive creatures
And with the UA-camrs I kinda agree too...for example I like most of Star Wars Theory content...however his constant forced theory on "Mace Windu is alive" is just getting really annoying now...I was watching his reaction to this ep and when it was revealed that it was Ahmed Best or as Jedi, Kelleran Beq, I saw how he was disappointed and only later he said "yea man, Ahmed is back, thats great" in not very believable tone
Like people complained that in S2 of Mando, only major characters always showed up and galaxy isnt bigger than 1 city apparently...and when its a more minor characters that show up, people shit on it too...like bruh
Or maybe there is no real plot
@@rebellion-starwars I agree brother, all my favorite SW channels kinda annoy me half the time now. I feel as if we can not just enjoy the great content we are getting without people constantly saying "it should've been like this/that".
At no point were these creatures referred to as Shriek Hawks. THe Armorer was calling for the "Shriek Hawk Team" in their ranks. As far as I know, Shriek Hawks, or Jai'Galaar, are native to the planet Mandalore, just like the Mythosaur.
They be using a lo of creatures in the mandalorian but that's what I like about it the uniqueness of these creatures are amazing can't wait for mythosaur
I like this season, I’m not an avid Star Wars lore fan, so it’s nice this show is letting me see some Star Wars creatures I never knew existed.
@@MysteryMusic512 Yes Sir
Gives me Ark feeling I use to send fresh boys in my tribe naked with crossbow and tranqs tell them to come back with a Argy than they can join.
Pretty sure the Armourer was referring to the four extra Mandos as the Shriekhawk team, not the beasts.
The monster hunting/riding is part of Mandalorian lore and culture. I get that you personally don’t like it, but I think it makes for great little action sequences that depart from the classic “pew pew against stormtroopers” we see in most Star Wars.
My guess is that the covert is NOT in the Mandalorian system, since
1. Din indicated to Bo that it was unlikely to be found, AND
2. it required a hyperspace jump to get there from Bo's home moon.
I’m more than fine w these monsters. They’re 100% missing an opportunity if they don’t start training Mandos as riders on these yanno? It would be fantastic if there’s a time jump enough to have these full grown being used in a charge against the imperial remnant. I can imagine the Armorer forging some beskar to fit around parts of their hide for protection against Tie’s and the like- too cool.
Considering they once domesticated a once sentient species to be used as flying mounts, so I'd say it's likely
They are obv setting up for this yea. Seems to me, bo is gonna try and get armorer to allow either her or din to take leadership and reform the group into a proper clan and reunite the clans under them
@@mitchellsalazar6276 jokes on her. Mando is trained on mounting and his best bud knows how to ride a giant monster
That'd be a lot of beskar.
Bo-katan riding the mithosaur and other 3 mandos on these things. Or maybe they will use these to help tame the mithosaur. I'm more than ok with that.
Andor didn't have to many aliens, here to many creatures... SW fans are never pleased 😌
So true. 😅
location of the planet is definitely not in the mandalorian system because bo-katan and din djarin escaped from imperial interceptors via hyperspace
They never once called it a shriek hawk. They called it a rapture.
*raptor
@@mousemetal1679I was about to do that. 😅 Maybe rapture? 😂
I must say seeing those mandalorians surviving in that hostile environment is much cooler than them living in sewers and serving as bounty hunters. The CG is pretty good too
I don't think those where shriek-hawks, the armor's words were "enjoin the shriekhawk training team to accompany you." I think the dragon bird things where just dragon bird things, the mention of shriekhawk was relating tot he others that joined them.
I think the monster appearances are there to show the mandos are living in a place where no one else could. It sort of makes sense as a survival strategy, no one is going to come to that awful planet full of giant predators to bother them.
Sometimes the Mandalorians are just too smart. Literally builds a settlement right next to a lake with giant blaster proof space crocodiles that prey on humans and gigantic flying reptiles with incredible speed that tend to randomly snatch children. Let’s bring the foundlings there! I’m sure they’ll be fine.
Where's the last place you'd look for a tribe and invade it? That desolate planet with no settlements visible filled with monsters.
Some people irl live in Australia, so...
The planet and its fauna are fine; the location of the cave and/or where the kids are trained seems stupid.
I can’t get enough of the giant monster fights, there’s nothing goofy about it, it’s awesome
The shot of Bo Katan's Kom'rk chasing after the Shriek-Hawk towards the sunset would make an amazing background.
I actually did not think that the moment was goofy. I thought it had good build up and was a good action sequence showing the mandalorians versatile skills and a heroic moment for bo and din
Honestly as long as the creatures are cool I really don’t care how much they appear. Also they weren’t goofy.
Two things. First, I think it's alright for Mando 3 to focus on some monster-like creatures. We got way too many of them in general. Also it shows us that the Mandos have retreated to a planet inhabitated by many big bad monsters where they have to stay strong and not to fall into depression and decadence.
Second, the planet may be in the Mando-system, it may not. Creatures, also animals like those can be shipped anywhere for breeding and/or selling like we did in real life. I think it will be a planet at the edge of the Mando system.
Idk man I really liked this episode. I hope we get to see Big Papa Viszla and his Shriekhawk foundlings ride in to save the day soon
big daddy* 😩
I think we saw this planet from space after Din's and Bo's exit from hyperspace, and it looked pretty different from Concordia. They jumped from the Mandalor system, where Concordia located to some system, that, if I remember correctly Din said to be a secret hideout of the Children of the Watch.
You can never have to many creatures in any star wars.
That should be a famous.quote
@Tammy Gordin right !!! And thanks, season 3 has too many creatures. What's this dude on? Has he seen Star Wars lol
I was actually surprised that the shriek-hawk got eaten by a fish (yes, a bigger fish) because I thought Disney wouldn't orphan its young brood and leave them to- essentially- starve to death. Next thing I knew, Mando, Bo & Co. are wrangling them out of a transport with a chunk of meat, and I couldn't help laughing.
but instead of laughing I got all upset about the source of the chunk of meat which had to be in the ship's fridge because there was nothing around for them to kill to get it, right?
The show should definitely be renamed "Mando, Bo & Co.
@@PaulYoungMinnesota Yeah. I supposed it could have been part of the mother (that's dark), but the fish ate it whole, so that's not possible.
Yeah, where'd they get that big slab of meat from? Guess Bo likes her steaks, but does she have a kitchen on board to cut that up and cook it in?
Too many monsters? What?
I swear there are legit issues with the show, but c'mon, seriously...
The Shrieker wasn't necessarily the goofy part.
It was goofy to see Mando training involving shooting at water....
and a foundling be regurgitated after spending 24+ hours dissolving in a stomach, to come out in one piece, unharmed.
A lot of avian species have special pouches in their throats that doesn't digest food so they can bring food back to the nest.
@@TeSolycMandalor That was exactly my thought when I first watched it. They called it a "Raptor", and yeah. Not the best written episode, but a lot of fun.
He may not have been in the stomach the entire time. We see another helm sitting in the next as well.
As for shooting into the water, why not? Target practice that doesn't blow up the caves/rocks they live in. Maybe get a fish or two for food as well.
I agree with the shooting water part but there are plenty of birds in real life that store food, sometimes alive, in their throat to feed to their young later. The kid probably didn't make it to the stomach. Also, besides things like large birds of prey or vultures birds tend not to have very strong stomach acid and need organs like gizzards that use muscles and sand/small rocks to grind up food because their stomach acid does such a poor job.
@@daefaron wasn't there something skipping around in the water while they were shooting?
There is not as much of it in cannon (yet) but in legends even though they hunted and killed great beast for fame and proof of prowess, the Mandalorians were always tamers of animals both as companion war beast and mounts, which seems to be a trend of a lot of Star Wars' martial cultures. As far as what planet it is and how the creatures got there could have a lot of explanations. Remember at their strongest, the Mandalorians controlled the entire outer rim sector around Mandalore, which contained over 1000 planets. Unlike a lot of what we see in both live action and animation they were once a powerful player on a galactic scale so who knows how many animals they spread across different worlds.
I love the monsters this season!! Monsters are an essential part of Star Wars and I've been digging this Kaiju Planet the Mando covert have been hiding on.
I don't recall hearing these raptor things called shriek-hawks. The group that went with Bo and Din were called shriek-hawk team or whatever. I think you are mistaken.
Bruh, you realize Mandalorians basically live to hunt monsters and other strong opponents to better themselves so it makes sense.
To be honest, I'm still trying to figure out how did the three oprhans fit inside Bo's ship / bloody clown car
the inside is actually pretty spacious
Me: Maybe they used the Force?
Han Solo: That is *not* how the Force works!
It's bigger on the inside.
I am incredibly happy that this covert is slowly starting to grow into quite the formidable army. Now with these giant beasts to ride, the wielder of the darksaber, a Mandalorian gauntlet fighter, an N-1 starfighter and a force user plus the couple dozen of Mandalorian warriors we saw this episode.
0:41 Have you ever noticed that one of the Mandos is wearing a clone commanders side armor plating like What Rex wore!!!
I took it that it was a training squad designated "Shiek Hawk" rather than a squad of shriek hawk trainers, and that they were sent for training purposes, they didnt even know where that thing lived until Bo Katan found out
This planet being in the Mandalorian sector is the only way it makes sense that they’re putting up with monster attacks every other day
I was glad to see they rescued the babies. I thought it was because of a respect for life and they felt responsible for the parent's death. They didn't want to kill the creature only save the boy. But, if they have a place in Mandalorian lore, then that's OK, too.
They're trying to bring back the techno-barbarian Mandos from the Legends comics and novels. In the old Boba Fett comics the Mandos were running around riding all sorts of monsters.
This is fascinating that they got their symbols from these beast. We should see more of these alien creatures out in the galaxy.
I believe it possible that in previous ages, when the Mandalorians sought conquest, they used these creatures and therefore it is possible those we saw are descendants from those ancient times.
After all, during the Mandalorian Wars they took many planets.
This may also explain one reason why the Mandalorians are there, in order to find Beskar also left from those ancient times.
I bet the feeling the armourer is on something most of the time. Using “this is the way” for YOLO
I thought it was fun and it really tied into bo katan's character. I just want to have more character moments without thier helmet. Like them all eating alone was the saddest thing I've ever seen. Like I don't think I could trust someone without ever seeing thier face.
The not seeing each others face thing, used to be so that they would not discriminate against each other, because they were of a different species! Don't know if that is still the case, but it used to be that Mandalorian's adopted from any species.
The original Mandalorians were not human, but they adopted war orphans from the humans they were at war with. The never take your helmet off thing, was probably to prevent animosity within the ranks.
If you get used to seeing your friends with helmets on all the time you basically perceive the helmets as their faces.
I subconsciously trained myself to perceive Din´s helmet as his face and every time he´s shown without it I have some weird feeling like "This is wrong, I´m not supposed to see his face."
Their helmets are their faces
To be fair, Star Wars always had many many animal species spread out across the galaxy on multiple planets, often on systems no where near each other. Sometimes in completely different environments or climates from one another. Sleen for instance can be found on Dagobah (in the movies) and on Dromund Kaas (and several other planets in SWTOR).
I love the trend of the mandalorians fighting all these monsters. Plus the sighting of the mythosaur earlier. Reminds me of the mudhorn and krayt dragon fights.
They're not shriek hawks. The armorer was talking about a group of Mando's that came along with Bo, Paz, and Din. They called the flying creatures raptors
I thought this episode was super fun and cool while also moving the characters along. We learned more about Grogu's backstory, learned more about Mandalorian culture and saw Bo Katan connect more and be apart of the Mandalorian clan.
I didn't realize the raptor was a Shriek-hawk. I thought the Armorer told them to take the shriek-hawk squad with them to go save Ragnar. I totally didn't catch that they were shriek-hawk, too. Cool connection!
I don’t understand why more monsters is somehow a bad thing …
It's not. Complainers will complain...
Its been a point that mandos ride large creatures, so they'll make excellent new air infantry for the children of the watch, depending on how fast they grow.
Ezra Bridger is about to have a field day with all these creatures.
Everybody: "I loved going to the beach when I was a kid. Such good memories."
Ragnar: 😰
I like the episode, we got great grogu backstory info, something the series up until now has been reluctant to tell. plus I like the vibe of the when it came to portrayal of the mandos, got a vague Conan the barbarian feel from it, the armoror explaining the forge gave off a riddle of steel vibe to it. I think it also makes sense to base themselves on a death world despite dangers, it would be the last place anyone would look, the environment and the wildlife provide a natural defense, and the harshness of the world make an excellent place to train and condition the younglings. Think of something similar to the fremen from dune, or the inhabitants of death worlds from which Sun space Marine chapters recruit from in Warhammer 40,000. Also some interesting trivia, we got a great but meaningful cameo for Ahmed Best that impactful. Also Carl Weathers, who plays Greef Karga, directed this episode. Good job Carl!
you can not have enough cool monsters in Mandalorian.... especially when you are building up the Mythosaur and the Mando's ties to taming and riding these creatures.
I was just wondering what that flight back was like with all the Mandolorians and the three beast trying to nip them in those tight quarters
All I could think when I saw the babies coming out of the ship was how could they fit them and the mandalorians inside the ship?
This episode seemed more of a Mandalorian culture worldbuilding/exposition episode.
Reminds me of the Ghost in a Shell anime where at the beginning of of the episodes they would say if it was going to be character defining, world building, or following the main plot. Having themes unrelated from the plot separated allowed them to expand on elements/ideas without getting them lost in each other.
I'm confused. When did they get referred to as Shriekhawks? I remember them being called Raptors at once point. You sure you're not thinking of the Shriekhawk Training Team that accompanied them, since that's what they were referred to be?
He is thinking of the Shriekhawk team. It is kinda confusing. I also assumed the team is called this way because they specialize on hunting the shriekhawks, so it sounds like the creatures are called shriekhawks. But they call them just "raptors" later.
I found the baby ones cute
Mandalorians are like Cimmerians or something in this show, and give off some cool Beastmaster vibes, I love how they are evolving, and I love the bunch of beasties they are showcasing!
They hopped to hyperspace from the mandalorian system to avoid the empire so it can't be in the mando system I think they are in a planet with the creatures brought there. It's also possible they messed up continuity.
This planet is Concord Dawn.
I remember that one episode of SW Rebels when Sabine and Ezra were fighting Gar Saxon on jetpacks.
It was dark, but the geography was very similar to this planet, with canyons and all.
I think whole purpose of this world and all of these monsters is to show that the Tribe have become the hunted instead of the hunters. They leaving the world and returning to Mandalore will be them turning assertive, to take control of their lives and destiny again by no longer being on the run in more than one way.
It could be the founder or head of Clan Vizsla slew a Shriek Hawk and thus gained the right to have it as his clan crest. Don't forget mandalorian clans have had plenty of Animal crests not native to their system.
Too many monsters?? No way! I'm loving it!
In the Star Wars universe, there are several species that can be found on different, often widely-separated worlds, the result of ancient colonization by precursors like the Gree and the Rakata and later settlements, farms, and etc by more recent races.
I was thinking “are we supposed to ignore the fact that three nestlings have been left to die a slow death” before they were brought off the Gauntlet.
Could be in the same Sector as Mandalore. The Mandalorian's did once have an empire and could have left behind many small colonies, some of which could have escaped the Empire's attention. There are so many uncharted settlements.
I don't think it's the Mandalore system. Last episode, after getting attacked by TIE Interceptors, Din and Bo jumped to hyperspace, and they arrived to this place by the end of the episode. If they still were in the Mandalore system, they wouldn't need to jump to hyperspace, and the TIEs would just search the nearby planets as well.
Well, Mandalorian had creatures in every season, since very first episode. It is part of the show.
I think it was just the name of the group or small clan that got sent... It was Vizla who's is know to have been associated with death watch, going after his son...
They can now train these to catch other Raptors. It'll be How to Train Your Dragon with Mandalorians instead of Vikings.
Shriek hawk: good
shree khawk: uncanny noises
If payed close attention, you can see an empty helmet in the nest. Confirming what Paz Vizsla said earlier to Mando about taken Mandolarians. 😬
feral shriekhawks from an earlier mandalorian settlement seems plausible.
Mandos got to have some monsters to ride. Mythasaur needs some buddies. Expect Boba to show up with his rancor lol
for a moment it looked like Goji-Pan cross over with kid creatures turning up but the lures of cut meat told me its part of the story
I've always been under the impression that Mandalorian space encompassed more than just one solar system of planets, so it could be another world in that same sector
I suspect they’re probably native to multiple planets. For them to be used as such prominent warrior iconography throughout the galaxy, they must be native to more than just one planet or system.
It's like to point out that when Cindel Towani got snatched by a similar creature, Wicket did not wait until morning. Wicket got on his glider and took care of business.
I'm completely distracted by the though that if one of those things sneezes all the snot will blow out of the top of its head. Like a mucus firework.
So the mandalorians just decided to take up residence in jurassic park.
Sure, that tracks
"There's always a bigger fish."
It wouldn't be surprising if they made a whole other creature a shriek hawk. In this episode Bo-Katan referenced Kyrimorut as a mountain range instead of a settlement like it was in legends.
Mandalore had influence over many habitable worlds and these creatures did not all originate in just one place
If mando doesn’t ride one with the darksaber in hand, I’ma shoot someone.
Personally I love some good Star Wars monsters. Plus, the season seems to be building towards taking on the Mythosaur in some way, so these are warmup monsters.
Better than a flipping "Dinosaurs Turtle" like that is the level they can afford to creates the model and animate it.
I think a planet conquered by Mandalorians with Shriek-hawk transplants makes a lot of sense. It would at least partly explain why the Children of the Watch chose to set up shop there: it's a planet with ancient Mandalorian ties.
I know Nevarro was within mandalores sphere of influence before mandalore destruction. Maybe the planet the enclave was at, is also withing what used tp be mandalorian space
They went full on Jurassic World on this episode... but at least they have flying mounts now.
They jump into hyperspace when leaving mandalore so I don't think it's in the same system
I’m sure since Kalevala exists, and we didn’t know about it, it’s perfectly reasonable to assume that this is another planet near Mandalore.
Too many monsters?! Monsters are one one of the best parts of Star Wars! I LOVE this Ray Harryhausen planet lmao.
After reading the comments, i am happy at the collective "more monster good" mentality
Did nobody else notice the giant “Chicken-like” creatures that were being roasted on spits at the mandalorian feast when they joined the clans together? I don’t think they kept the shriek-hawks as pets. 😢
I believe they chose to live here because it’s the only place no one else will go.
It’s the only “safe” place for the nomadic mandos to gather in such large numbers, especially after Navarro.
I 100% believe Mandos would rather take their chances with beasts than men.
I would think it reasonable to assume that this planet is probably somewhere in mandalorian space, just not necessarily the mandalore system itself.
Mandalorians do seem to love taming monsters, so if that is the same creature then it makes sense to me if they brought some over with an old settlement. A rocky, mountainous terrain like that would make ground transport difficult, so it could be very helpful having some flying transport that doesn't burn up your jet fuel reserves.
I have to say I rather liked the idea of the Mandos taking in the three babies as "foundlings".
What did bug me was the Armorer referring to Vizla's kid as a foundling, when obviously he wasn't _found,_ he was one of the cohort's kids.
