    Guys.. 6k? No, just paint your board red and save your money. You’re gonna sound the same 😂

    It's sounds great, but I'd probably never buy a Nord. I don't like the workflow of them and they're too pricey. I have a M-Audio 88 Hammer Pro controller, a refurbished Macbook Pro and Mksensation Xtreme for less than a third of the cost of this new and I'd rock any church or gig just as well. Don't get me wrong, the soundscapes he created are really dope, but that would only cater to movie scoring or plays in my opinion. Also remember, the audience doesn't care as much about the nuances as you will. Most won't notice a difference in sound quality and if your house sound system isn't EQ'd properly the board will sound like trash anyway, believe me 😂

      The M Audio Hammer 88 Pro is a dope ass midi controller honestly the action is the best I’ve ever felt in a midi controller next to the Kawai VPC1 you did a great choice!

      @@tuneunleashed Much thanks! That was one of the main reasons I bought it. The feel is pretty realistic and it's a sturdy affordable controller (only $800). I just bought a Yamaha MX61 synth as a lightweight hardware board if I gig out and a backup if my Macbook goes out. It has all the MOTIF sounds for $799. Some musicians get too caught up on the trendy looks and brands which are usually overpriced and overrated.

    Love the Stage 4 but IMO it is missing 1) class compliant USB interface, 2) ability to mix external audio, and 3) no DI out. Things you can live without but …
    USB interface is pretty important for some, including me.

    Hey Sebastian! I’m not an OG subscriber but I’ve been around for at least the last 5-7 years. I know the longer videos may not be ideal, but I genuinely enjoy watching the whole videos with everything all in context, especially when you and Randy get together. There’s so many gems and information so if you ever consider releasing it, I’ll definitely watch! Great content either way!

    I really would like to see a comparison/breakdown of the new Dexibell Vivo S10(L). I think it'd be quite a competitor to Nord, but that's just from the specs. Especially the unlimited polyphony, motorised faders, memory and not to forget the price!

    Not everything…they import their Fatar keybeds from Italy. The same damn keybeds you could get on the Studiologic SL88 Grand. Their price is absolutely nuts for what you get…but man are they good!!!

      Yeah they talked all around it to try justifying the price. 6k is too much considering there’s still things it can’t do that other boards and programs can for less

  • @tonylancer7367

    Let's be honest, $6000 is still a lot, but probably what you are paying for is the R&D and software that Clavia have put into these boards. The boards probably cost a lost less to make and assemble (you can get the Fatar keyboard, electronics and cables for no more than 300 euros, about $326 dollars for example), akin to how the iPhone costs about $400 (and probably less if you change materials) and yet retails above $799.
    I think the more interesting question here is why Clavia (Nord) are not interested in making low cost instruments (like Yamaha's PSR for example), because those sales can effectively bring the pricing down of the more expensive instruments, but since everything is assembled by hand, it could be harder to churn out low cost instruments.
    We all agree they make great instruments, but they also reported a 28% profit margin in 2018.

      @DevinShoulders 11 місяців тому

      I feel the price implies they’re better than the rest though. They need to be in the 3k to 4k range. The only way it would make sense if all the sounds up there were in the “ I can’t tell the difference” range. They did good but they’re not quite there yet tbh 🤷🏾‍♂️

    • @tonylancer7367
      @tonylancer7367 11 місяців тому +1

      @@DevinShoulders I hear you, I don't know who is to blame for "price implies they’re better than the rest". Engineers don't handle the money, it's the money people that handle the money, so maybe it's them, lol.
      The "I can't tell the difference" indicates you are a pretty seasoned keyboard player, you're able to tell the difference between this piano and that piano sound, but at that point, it's the Law of Diminishing Returns, Clavia knows they can make it better, but it's not worth the extra 1% if people will not use it.

    • @DevinShoulders
      @DevinShoulders 11 місяців тому

      @@tonylancer7367 So the “I can’t tell the difference” standard was set with the Korg Kronos back when it came out at $4k. However it was justified because the sounds were so realistic if you played them on a record you couldn’t tell the difference between a real EP, grand piano, a real orchestra (strings), real bass guitar and the Kronos. That’s 4 sound types. With the Nord, their organ is a cut above the rest, but it’s still not a mobile Hammond B3 quite yet to my ear (been MD in church for ten years) but the upright pianos are on that level. For 6k they would need to sound realistic in more than 1 or 2 categories. Especially since the Kronos and likely the new Korg Grandstage X is winning in 4. Even the Grandstage is rumored to be 3k not 6k 🤷🏾‍♂️

    Great Videos. Im older now and have spent a large amount of money of the past 35 years on equipment , keyboards etc. IMO.. the board sounds great but is probably about 2K overpriced. Im sure many will disagree with that but 6K for a keyboard is alot of money and what these guys said at the end is MOST IMPORTANT !!!!!..... Work at it man. you can buy a Porsche and drive like garbage just the same as you did with the Honda Civic. Church music has become way too worldly today, what is the function of music in the Church? Think on that a bit. Anyway..... Great board that is way overpriced. Think long and hard before pulling that trigger.

    Those tripping about the price have to consider shipping in and out of the United States. Moving large, heavy, delicate packages cost. People are so used to china and Walmart and think everything is the same, it’s not. Some stuff cost. Regardless of what anyone

    • @DevinShoulders
      @DevinShoulders 11 місяців тому +1

      But even with the higher cost it’s still missing a LOT of functions other boards have that cost less. Even sound wise their organ comes close but still isn’t quite there yet. The price in my opinion would be more justifiable if it did what all the other boards did and more but tbh that’s not the case with this one. When the montage came out and was 4k people said that was too much based on what they were offering. This offers even less and people try to make it ok.

    • @jgooch99
      @jgooch99 11 місяців тому

      @@DevinShoulders aside from an internal mixer and audio interface, which aren’t deal breakers, I don’t see this board missing major functions. If it does, please let me know. Do I personally think they should allow the availability of an internal SSD…..100%. The only company I know to have done that is Korg with the Kronos. The Yamaha montage is a great board but you will be digging to program on the same level. If Other companies start allowing more one-to-one surface control, Nord wouldn’t be so popular. No one instrument can do everything great. Synthesizers, organs, stage pianos, workstations, are all different types of keyboards.The best of each offers a level of control specific to that type of instrument or use. Ultimately we have to pick what is best for us, our budget, and the moment. But as I stated previously the one to one level of control of the Nord in my opinion is unmatch for people who just play. If you need to trigger samples I completely understand rolling with a Roland Fantom. But to say the stuff isn’t worth the money is rough. Only people who have spent a lot of time with, played with , programed, and in some cases toured can speak to the reality of the value of a board.
