These two gave me so much trouble when I first started learning Korean. But now I differentiateㅐ and ㅔ as "ㅐ" being pronounced as a short "e" sound like in "get" or "pet" and "ㅔ" as a long "a" sound like "grade" or "made". That is how I tell them apart. I hope this can help some of you aswell.
Unnie, please pin the comment above. There IS a distinction and people should make it if they are learning the Korean language.
Omg
You can even hear her pronounce it that way at 9:07!
Oooohhhh this makes a huge sense, thank you so much 😍😍😍
Now i got it .. thanks friend :)
@Liz Compra I think you got it in reverse? "ㅐ" as the long "a" and "ㅔ" as the short "e".
I have REFUSED to learn Korean without you , I hope you know that

I was starting to get scared we lost you!! Did someone get offended when they heard Korean Unnie say 내가 or 니가 and now she was locked out of her account? Should I look for her face on a milk carton? Had she been abducted by aliens? Did she visit the Western Sea, get spotted by the Sea God who noticed her strong resemblance to 심청and took her to his palace in the sea? Did her dogs eat her computer? And those are the least crazy fears that I had! I even had moments where I thought you did not love us anymore ㅠㅠ!!
Okay, seriously, I thought that life came up as it often does but when it got out of the way you would return. Glad to see you back and I love the new intro!
니이기...?

감사해요
For the second time this year I will be traveling back to Seoul, learning from you has helped me so much getting around Seoul and Daegu .. thank you so much!!
Unnie! You're Back! missed you so much
no one is ever gonna know why did I get so many likes
No?just me?
okay
how she explains softly !!! i'm in love so much 💌
In some parts of the English speaking world we are undergoing the cot-caught merger. For people my age, we say and hear cot and caught as two entirely different sounds while people on the other side of the merger say and hear cot-cot. Same goes for marry, merry, and Mary; most English speaking people can hear three distinct words while others say marry, marry, and Marry. Same thing is happening here; Korean Unnie's grandparents hear and say something distinctly different with 애 and 에 but starting with my wife's generation the sounds started to blend. Thanks to my father-in-law my wife pronounces them different from each other but she's an exception. As best as I can hear it, say "ae" and pay attention to what your mouth does; it starts open then closes down to an "ee", right? Well just do the first open part and you have 애. 에 is easier; it is much like the English "eh?" only clipped shorter.
한국 언니 사랑해요! 🇧🇼
Love your fashion, always.😌 I am learning as much Korean as possible because I am preparing to visit Korea to explore & adventure especially JW Marriott in Seoul. Thank you so much, Korean Unnie! ❤️ I hope to see you soon.

RIGHT SNSJSJSJ
Really? I'm from the us and in kindergarten (age 5/6 I think) we had to know the whole alphabet and count to 100 before the end of the school year
Unnie: now to u that probably sounds exactly the same

Hi
Unni, i have an idea for your next series:
You can dissect kpop songs *(can you please start with BTS' s "I'm fine")*
I loved etiquette class, too! It wasn't part of school, it was a center my mom took us to for learning etiquette. We learned table manners, how to write formal letters with envelope addressing, how to introduce ourselves and others, and how to serve food and drinks. I will NEVER forget the lessons about gesturing. Pointing was declared terribly unladylike. We were to smoothly gesture with an open hand if we had to do so at all. We were taught that everything we did should be aimed at making others more comfortable and to present ourselves as competent, kind young ladies.
I've been watching a lot of people teaching hangul but its hard for me to understand them. But I found yours easier to underastand. Saranghaeee
The video before (1 month ago) :: Unnie being really sweet
Now/this video:: "...if you are not stupid than you already now..."
Me:: *dang*
It’s really late here but education never stips
Glad you're back! 💕
Thank you sooo much!!!!!!!!!!.... Was really confused in them!!.... Missed you a looott... Thank you for uploading videos again.!
You teached me the Korean alphabet, 감사합니다, I am really thankful, I am here because I love Korean and all about it(and because BigHit won't put translation on some videos but that doesn't matter😂) love you and your videos❤️❤️💚
Btw, it’s taught, the past participle of teach. Teached does not exist.
Yay my beautiful teacher is back❤❤❤
항상 즐겁게 감상중 ☺️
Korean is so much like HINDI like not in writing but definitely in pronunciation.
UNNIE THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THESE VIDEOS. You make learning the vowels 10x easier. I struggled watching other videos, but yours are always so helpful and fun. Hope you're well!
Cute intro, thank you for another vid! I enjoy hearing your anecdotes, makes it feel like I am having class with a fun and engaging teacher.
Your teaching is so natural! Unlike those boring and formal classes, you do make learning Korean fun and easy😁 thank you so much, Unnie!
Duolingo made me lose all my hearts because of these two and they don’t even explain the difference
Thank you for all your classes, I watched this series over a week and it's been really useful :D
New intro is great
that's our teacher😊
When you say it is not watching the video but you need to practice write it byourselves😍
Many thanks🙏

I love your Alphabet series. In Greek we say Nae (ναι) for yes too. Formal and informal :)
you are the best teacher😘
Omg 언니 is baaack! I love the intro! ♥️♥️
Welcome back! Missed your videos, but been progressing well anyway. Even still, you put things in a way that cements it in my mind, 감사합니다 and I hope you will keep uploading.
Watch Unnie first! I am doing Duolingo and Lingodeer ( highly recommend both to enforce and make understanding Hangul fluent!) I am watching all these lessons, doing the app then coming back to the lesson I get stuck on cause I swear Unnie is reading my mind!!!! She is breaking down in a way I can understand and knows that it can be overwhelming! I love you for that!! I recommend to anyone starting to learn Watch Unnie to understand Hangul. It will help you in the pronunciation to better understand when you start learning word meanings!
Thank you unnie for come back
Her voice though!!!! It's hard to explain but the way her voice sounded because it was deepish, but sometimes the way she said something is just like, WOW!! I've never seen this side of Unnie!!!!!
Love the INTRO. So phenomenal!
I saw all your videos and i hope it will go well tomarrow at my new korean school! Thank you so much for being so good at telling the difference between ㅖand ㅔ and all the other letters 💕🌟❤️🙏🏻

That means thousands I'd people are learning Korean because they really wanna know. TEACHER UNNIE, she is really working hard to teach us, bite by bite. If you wanna know like she knows, you gotta do what she does. Have you seen her notes?
Every good teacher studies and prepares. This is what I've noticed she does. So, thank you TEACHER UNNIE!
YOUR EFFORT is NOT for nothing. We are hanging on your teaching skills to take each of us to the next level.

I feel honoured that unnie knows some Italian ❤️ love from Italy🇮🇹❤️❤️
To be honest Korean unnie's videos are the best .... I tried learning Korean with an app called duolingo and that was a total disaster cuz of the romanized pronunciation like eo an all I didn't understand a SINGLE thing but because of Korean unnie video I understood a loooot and I mean that.
believe it once u finish this series all u gotta do is practice and done u can read and write Korean
What really happened here is that the ㅔ is sounding like E, and ㅐsounds like an E but you position your mouth like how you pronounce A. Same like ㅖ(sounds like Yeh) and ㅒ(sounds like Yeah). I really like Korean Unnie's videos. It's so fun to watch.
idk if this is helpful or not, but i compare these vowels to "you're" and "your". it's like how some younger people (or just people in general in some cases) get these two mixed up or completely wrong. plus, if you say or hear them out loud, you wouldn't be able to tell the difference. it'd just depend on how you use each word in a sentence.
Learning the ae and yae is similar for indians(who know or have learnt hindi) to know whether to put श or ष
You said that I don’t want that people write in comment that you don’t know korean why you studing us but I saw all there were no comment like that ㅋㅋㅋ

+ I needed that, thank you 언니 ~
Early love you unnie(사랑해) it has ㅐin it
how do people know when your talking about a dog 개 and a crab 게 ?
Context I'd say
Some old Koreans can tell the difference but young Koreans can't without context. This is Historicality of a Language
this video popped up on my UA-cam as suggestions I'd been trying to learn Korean before but given up hope her videos can get me back since she just explained a very confusing vowel problem that no one else did
Loving your videos, not much is sinking in at the minute as I've just started learning, quite tough to learn being English
언니!! I realized that even my name has ㅐthat is 낸시!!!

We also had manner classes in 1st and 2nd grades but now I forgot all of them😂😂 I don't like traditional things
I missed yon Unnie ♡ ... I have just learned Hangul thanks to you .....what is the next step ?is it pronounciation rules ? I hope to be the next series for beginers
10:25 I've had a question around this for a while. She said: "why do I sound so weird... I sound so American". And then she proceeds to pronounce 네 from what sounds to me to be a N sound to a D sound (to my ears). And that's the way that I hear it all the time in Kdramas, etc. It sounds so clearly to me as a D sound, but when I look for videos to explain it, I just found that ㄴ sounds the same as N in English. These 10 seconds confirm that I'm not crazy. Anyone knows the reason behind that difference and the way to pronounce it correctly?? Thanks.
edit: I just found her video on ㄴ (Day#2) where she explains it. Interestingly enough, throughout that video everything sounded like N to me. Not the same sound I heard in this example.
same question here!
from what i gathered it doesn’t pronounced as “N” =[in] , it’s pronounced without the first half of the “N” sound so it becomes “na” sort of.
secondly the position of the tongue is between the the N and the D for English speakers.
try to say (na) and (da), now try to position your tongue in the middle and say it again.
last thing, it depends on the word and if it’s a last consonant in the syllable, some words makes it sound more N and others makes it more like a D
한글로 만든 인트로 영상이 너무 멋져요
You must be given the best award for making/teaching korean easy and 😂 🌟
