"fall back in love with your car" bold of you to assume i didnt still love it
This is actually the best mod that I have made to my E46 because I spent no mooonaaaays on it. Let’s go. I definitely won’t be straight piping mine for a while.... God bless you Evan for finding this amazing hack!
V-Dawg V-Logs V-Games dont straight pipe just resonator deleted promise youll love it
Every time I learn something new and cool about this car (E46) I love it even more!
Gonna try this in 2021 , bet it's gonna be worth it .. great videos Evan 👍🏻
Doing this in 2021, appreciate the video :))
Works great! 🤙
Thank you did this on my 330xi and it sounds much better now :)
what a cute little mod good job man
Dude clean your car
Horizontal Tendencies 😂😂😂
F10 Loudy 🤣
Do you live in the north?
@@Jordan-rb28 yes
U clean ur car😭
My 04 bmw325xi 4door sedan has a butterfly exhaust under warming the engine it's kind of loud but I don't have vacuum comeing to the butterfly so it stays open
Worked for my 01 330i sedan
right here.. right here....riiiiighhhhtt here okay...here right there.. lol jp nice video
Works really well my car was roaring after this definitely recommended
E46 ?
Okay that's a lie
So was mine lol thank you
@@migz_e46 def. my valve is stuck open and its literally quite as fuck.
By the way the popping is actually normal. When I went open headers on mine on stock ecu a couple times it would burble pretty loud
I can confirm. Just did it on my 02 325xi. Big difference
Has it messed anything up since doing it?
It will not mess anything up it’s just a vacuum line that you plug so it does not leak.
did it back fire
Yes between 3 and 2k it pops
will it pop on my 02 bmw 325xi
Not all e46’s have the butterflies it’s only it’s your a sport modal m sport my 2004 325xi m sport package has it so it matter on the what the person got with there package at the dealership
my 2004 came stock with this already done with no valve......... try sport mode with higher rpms. alot of fun
Nice one bro 👍
+UTUBED Thank you!
I brought my bmw 325xi already that way, best sounding car in my neighborhood. Highly recommend.
Have a 2001 BMW 325xi Touring (Wagon) and it has the vacuum actuated exhaust valve. I disconnected the vacuum line leading to the butterfly valve, but it was so dry-rotted. After tearing off the dry rotted pieces, I actually used a large screw that was a little larger diameter than the hose and screwed it in. After I was done, the car now has a much lower tone and it isn't too loud. I like it, but I do want to eventually upgrade to a Dinan or another reputable exhaust system.
I got my and it already had this mod done to it but he never plugged the line and I wasn’t able to get up to it to plug it myself
Nice I will be doing this!
This works only for 330i and 330ci, other engines don't have the butterfly.
Jan Prokopenko my x3 also has one
My 2000 323i has one
mine same year, doesnt have one
Interesting how some 2000 323 do and others don't does anyone have an answer for this ?
Jan Prokopenko my 2005 335xi has one
Привет) подскажите, кудою проходит через моторный щит вакуумная магистраль на заслонку глушителя, на е46?
Ok i lost 10 min of me life .he didnt even start the f car 🙄 malaka!
Nikola Mecic haha did u watch it more than once?
Hey man. Can you recommend a tutorial or posting about disabling the automatic upshift feature on -02 318ti auto-gearbox? I think it's same as all E46, except maybe largest engines. I know Dinan has a software upgrade for it, but it also does other things that are meant to be used together with Dinan stuff. I'm not looking to full Dinan a 1500e car lol. If I can ride limiter on 2nd gear, this thing will drift great.
So did you also delete the vacuum pump to the exhaust that’s on the drivers side? And plug the outlet on the back of the intake manifold?
tried this on my 2001 330ci and it did nothing...
So I don't have vacuum at the end how do I fix this I think my vacuum line from the start ma be bad I'll work on it this summer no check engine on at all
Good content but I watch all your videos at 2x speed lol
So mine actually does not close at all and the lines are connected. I got a feeling ima need a new line. Any ideas on my problem?
Great video would been nice if he showed a clip of the exhaust
My valve is stuck CLOSED can't open it with any sort of pry bar. Even pb, wd, no lubs cud make it.break free....
That was put there for a reason. I believe to allow a little restriction. While the catalette converters heat up and and then it should open. Once everything's warmed up, someone correct me if I'm wrong. What is the purpose of this butterfly valve
hello ppl how are you?
few question please help
1. how do i check if my car's butterfly works or not, because the car is on or off, the butterfly is always open.
2. the car's sound is louder when it is open or when it is closed?
3. if it is not working, what should i check first?
thank you
Try to push the flap by hand. The car sounds louder when open
I have a 328ci ? You think it will make a difference? And what size of screw were you using
nice!! thanks man
My X5 e53 don’t have em ... is it a back flow preventer
Works 💯💯💯 I have a 2004 bmw 325xi sounds clean
I have an ‘04 325ci and there’s no valve?
Will this work on a 2000 BMW 328ci
I have a bmw x5 35i xdrive 2011, I somehow also got a vacuum exhaust valve. i plugged it but I haven't tried it yet. But would it still work without pushing the valve open , with what you did in the video. like is it going to open by itself and stay open or what happens exactly.😂
I have a 2011 bmw 328i am I able to do this mod on my car?
Right up there....
Going to do this in the am I got a 2004 330i zhp I’ll lyk how it sounds
Damn I was hoping for a demonstration at the end of what it sounds like. Lol. Either way great video. 👍.
+Eratiik I know it was getting late so I didn't want to rev the engine at night but trust me it sounds so much better!
I did the mod myself and it makes the car louder at low rpms and sound not so muffled. if youre driving fast the noise wont be much different since if the rpms are high enough the valve opens anyway to allow more exhaust to escape.
DivineRift I'm actually wondering if I already have this mod on my 330i. When you say that it's just louder at low rpm, I'm thinking it's already modded. There's a 330ci that lives not far from me. Same year, colour etc. and hers is quiet compared to mine at low revs. Mine has a throaty muffled sound but is still quite loud at low revs, almost get drone in the cabin. I should actually check to see. The whole cars stock, but it's somewhat loud even compared to other 330i/Ci that are around. No exhaust leaks or holes or anything. It's not a shitty sounding loud but more of a aftermarket exhaust sound. (Minus me having the aftermarket exhaust and just a stock one.)
I dont really get drone on the inside of the cabin unless all my windows are down. Even after the mod, the inside sound is only marginally louder, but it clearly has a deeper tone to it.
If you are not sure if you have the mod or not id just say next time you drive your car home and park it, go check to see if that butterfly valve is opened. Of course try not to breath in the gallops of exhaust coming out of the tail pipe. What year is your 330i and miles im curious
DivineRift 😂. I won't be looking down there if it's spitting out fumes don't worry. My e46 is a 2001 330i. When I did look down last time the Valve was open, I'm just surprised with how loud it is. It has a deep low rumble tone at low revs, and it does boarder on drone, (it isn't bad when the drone comes in, I was just more curious as to if the drone come from the mod that may or may have not been done to my car) and I've hit just over 110,xxx kms give or take a few 100km. I guess it's 70,000-ish miles taking in what google said with converting it.
this one harm the car in any way? no lights will come up on dash?
A before and after sound test would have been a plus for video. Thanks tho. I'll try it out
How was it ??
My adhd happened. Forgot about this completely. Ha. Will update as soon as i actually can
@@jasonjohnson6447 any update?
Right where?
dion constantinou right up there! 😵
My car is not beep when i lock or unlock it. Do u know why its not beeping? I dont have the bmw alarm system. Can it be the problem?
Yes your car does not have the alarm
It's on vacation.😔
I have an E46 320ci facelift (2003), but I don't have a butterfly valve. How can that be?
You wouldn’t be able to do this
@@EvanGoyuk So that means that my exhausts are already loud enough and the second exhaust on the right is always open on low rpm's?
No it’s just a different designed muffler internally
@@EvanGoyuk Ah, that sucks.
In Europe this hack only works on the 330i/ci because the valve exhaust came only as standard with the M54B30 powertrain
Does the 330i year 200 have it in Europe?
What is the purpose of this rubber hose if you just can take it off, put a screw in and not install it again?
Makes the engine quieter at low speeds for residential use I believe
I noticed a change in fuel efficiency after doing this mod. More consumption, I could be wrong but that's what it feels like. Perhaps the change in driving behavior due to the sound
Thats the reason it closes when u turn ur car on lol
You bought a E46 for fuel economy?
Forgot to turn the engine off before attempting this, now I’m dead
😂
my 05 325i msport doesnt have this but my old 2000 323i did
Do you have to manually push the valve open first
He said it should be open when the car is off
Why didn't he allow us to hear a before and after mod?
Does it work on my e90 318i
Right up there , what the hell man!!!
My vacuum line broke off behind the intake manifold.
At Idle, it sounds like I have an exhaust leak. Quite annoying.
As I accelerate, it gets quiet, as it was before.
I believe that at idle, the pulses of pressure are a low frequency (Bass) sound.
But as RPM increases, the frequency goes higher and you don't need the flap closed.
Disabling the flap doesn't increase the sound when accelerating. That's when the flap opens anyway.
Will try it and comment fedback when done
Wait, right where?
What are the cons of this mod?
Can you put the vacuum line back on if you've taken it off?
Yes
Will this affect the engine or the power? Will it tigger the check engine light?
No check engine light!
It worked on my 99 328i e36. It sounds much better with it open up than closed
I have a 99 328i and legit it’s a e46
Take a shot every time he says *Right*
Luke this can gets heavy!
why is mine shut and the car is off?
My bmw 46e doesn’t have the same exhaust..🤷♂️🙁
Weird mine doesn't have that flap
I have a 2000 BMW 323i, will it work on it??
i have the exact same car. someone reply to us. i wanna do this to my car too
Some of the 323i do others don't I'll try it tommrow let you all know
Dam screw shot out and ended up hitting the driver behind me. He was not to happy , he had to have the screw surgically removed from his forehead

James Kim why tf r u cursing
@@amirhamed4495 fuck fuck fuc k
I know you fuckin lyin🤣😭🤦🏾♂️
right there
I have a 2002 330ci and mines close when i turn off the car, but Idk if i want this mod since ill i gotta do is get on the accelerator and the M45 engine roars. so I'm not sure if this will make any difference.
It makes a fair bit of difference
Does this make any engine lights come on atall or
No that’s why you need the golf tee or screw
I have an 04 325i. I dont see a butterfly, is it not an equipped model?
derek melton most likely it’s electric
RallyandRace closer to the manifold?
Only 330i has the the butterfly.
derek melton it probably flew away
No its because its not a 330 model. The butterfly valve is installed on all the 3.0 litre 3 series. Also on the coupes, if your coupe is a 328i you will have the butterfly valve most likely too.
Does this affect the car badly ??
No
i have 316i does it have this, mine e46 has only one exoust tip
I didn't even know they had 316's
The struggle
I have the exact same car but with one exhaust. Guess it won't work then.
Not any E46. 330D don't have these.
does this work for a 325i because I don't see the same flap on my inner exhaust pipe?
edit: nevermind I see my answer on some other comments
Jup i dont have it either
Does this cause any issues to the car?
Nope not at all
mine dont pop
No before and after sound clips?
I messed up
Meh...I looked and I don’t have the active exhaust, so....
What year is your car
2002
Where is it again?
⚡️😭😭🇩🇪🇩🇪
Can you help me bro?
I have BMW 325xi 2006.
Does it work for me? Or any other idea ?
Thanks man i will subscribe
Yes it should
You dont even let us hear it?
its "right there" guys
It worked for 328i 97
Will this work on e46 318i 2003??
Did you get up doing it I also have a e46 330i 03
Right up there?
No sound clip? Damn
I know I messed up lol
You not gonna show us the before and after sounds
I know I should have I wasn’t thinking
I dont think my e46 318i has active exhaust
The drone noise in the cabin is unbearable... then you plug it back in and it rattles....
vacuum line I meant not vaccine lol
Right. Up. There. X1,000,000. If I hear you say right up. One more F$%*Ing time! Thanks for the info though.
These kids should do a little homework first so they can better understand why it's there in the first place and not be so concerned how cool your car sounds. For the record, the butterfly plate is design to stay wide open during launch and close while reaching higher speeds to create more back pressure to keep you moving especially when on the highway. Found in the 330ci, M3 and some Corvettes definitely NOT recommended...
Edwin Plaza Jr what do you mean to keep you moving?
Wrong, backpressure increasing power output is a myth, engines are just air pumps and anything that restricts air flow is bad if you want maximum power... not saying this mod increases power output but there is no science backing your claim that it will reduce power either.
Better airflow, better performance. Back pressure is a no no when it comes to performance
Why didn't you start it up... we want to hear
