Avinash Ganapa I only recommend one koi per 250 gallons of water. Get a bigger barrel.

ive been keeping aquarium goldfish for 6 years now (im still in my 20's!) and my oldest will be 5 this fall... but i definitely think i'm being converted to outdoor koi from all these videos.... it's my goal one day to have an accomplished pond as well!

How big does your pond have to be to keep koi? My pond is roughly 300 gallons. I've heard you need 100 gallons per fish?

AquaLady 420 if your water Quality is perfect so if the whole water goes through the Filter 6 times an hour and you do not feed your fish for growing nur just dir existence so that they stay between 30-40 centimeters (around 1 foot) you can keep more in a smaller Space like 5 in 300 Gallons but if you want your fish to grow you Need around 250 gallons thats, atleast in Germany,the norm.

Well it really depends on filtration and water change. Koi are carp and as such they eat a lot and create a lot of waist which puts ammonia in the water, that through normal biological filtration breaks down into nitrite and finally nitrate but the nitrate stays in the water and though its far less dangerous than the other 2 substances it builds and builds and eventually it will cause problems with the fish, thus why water changes are done to remove a bunch of the nitrate and dilute down what is left. So you have 300 gallon pond you will need to change water a lot more often than someone with a 10,000 gallon pond in order to keep the water quality good for the fish. The more fish that are in there the sooner water change is necessary. There are systems of filtration out there that are able to take the process full circle remove the oxygen molecules from the nitrate and turn it back into nitrogen gas fully completing the nitrogen cycle. Of course the more fish the more filtration you would need as well, theoretically though if you had a filter that was able to handle the waste of 10 fish and purify the nitrate out of the water then you could keep that many in a 300 gallon pond...of course they would be awfully crowded and miserable in there....

Hi I was looking at fish and had seen one with an eye missing and asked if I could by it and they would not lat me they put it in a net and but it separately I whish I had just taken it or gon back a week later to see if it was still there

Hey Matt, Koi can change color quite a bit as they grow. When red disappears it likely will not return but black can come and go during the growing periods of a koi's life.

Many people keep koi and turtles together. It is more common than you might think. Koi enthusiasts that spend a great deal of money on their collection do not keep turtles with their koi because the turtles will occasionally nip at a fin or possibly scratch the koi with their claws. And yes a turtle can host a parasite that is harmful to koi. All animals you put in your pond should go though a quarantine process. Thanks for watching!

You're better off going to Petsmart because ordering online is very expensive. About $14.95 shipping, and many fish have arrived with one eye, missing fins, or even dead.

David Thomas I swim with koi! Natural Swim Ponds are becoming more popular in the US. NPS's are common in Europe and do not recommend fish in the systems or very conservative amounts of fish in the pond. I believe it is primarily to reduce maintenance.

Anyways, that question could have been answered in 15 seconds by searching it in google or SIMPLY JUST FROM THE INFORMATION YOU COULD HAVE PICKED UP ON IN THE VIDEO. The reason you could be insane is because instead of those options, you decided to wait 2 WEEKS for an answer from some random person on the UA-cam comment sections, pathetic. Regardless, you got your answer in the end, just hope you didn't go out and buy a koi for a 25 gallon tank before you got an answer.
