Thank you for the vid! I did a very elaborate pencil drawing to start off my next oil work and I like the tracing method over spraying a fixative on it and then painting over top.
Thank you Daniel for a very informative video. I learned a lot from you and look forwards to your next video. I have subscribed to your channel From Glasgow in Scotland 🏴
@@ronaldoadoptante9414 Patience is an important quality in becoming a good painter. If you don't have 13 minutes to watch a video, you probably don't have time to paint anything worth looking at.
Thank you for sharing your knowledge. I learn from it. I am a beginner and I have a question: Isn't the underpainting with Burnt Umber also used to make the skin tones appear warm later? But if I have a cool and light background, do I leave out the underpainting there? Some underpaintings often look slightly violet or green. Will that come later? I thank you for your help
If you scumble white on top of a burnt umber layer, the white will almost look blue. It’s an incredible effect and can really add a level of complexity to your color. I recommend giving it a try.
Could you do an under painting in acrylic paint? I’ve had some success in that method. I tone my canvas with payne’s grey in acrylic. Then I paint the image in acrylic paint. Finally, I paint over that with oil paint.
Yep! I often experiment with an acrylic under layer, as well. Mostly you want to make sure that the acrylic layer doesn’t get overly thick or too glossy.
THANKS SO SO MUCH!! You’re an excellent teacher!! SO VALUABLE!!
Many grateful THANKS!
Thanks for sharing knowledge! This is helping me to get better my painting process based of classical approach.
Glad to hear it!

Video starts 13 minutes in if you are in a hurry!
You’ve noticed it too😜! Too much talking and then fast forward in outlining the drawing

Your lines are so clean? How?
Do you ever do an under painting in acrylic?
So you take the oil out on a piece of paper and then you put the oil that you took out back in with a palette knife?
It’s soaked into the paper. That’s why he did it on something absorbent
Are you adding linseed oil to the Liquin or just LIquin to the reduced oil -content paint?
Best
why not use acrylic paint? it will dry in 5 minutes. “let it dry for a couple of days” and then “maybe let it dry a couple of more days”???? why?
5:00 was that a joke?!
A bad one, but yes. I am a dad, what do you expect?
