Just picked up an 87 Targa and the first thing I noticed was how much slack there is in the gear shift. I'm thrilled to see that replacing a few bushings will likely be a huge improvement, and thank you for such a thorough walk through of the process!!
Thank you for the post. Only one I found for a 4 speed. Had used videos for 5 speed and they couldn't be more different (wrong for a 4 speed). Used yours on a 78 930 and worked first shot. Thanks again.
Should the bushes not have been greased with silicone grease or similar? This way they won’t wear out when rubbing against the rod or gear-lever bottom
So a couple months ago I replaced both bushings. Was very solid for a while, but the sloppiness is back. The coupler and the shift rod bushings look ok, but the ball cup bushing is already loose again. Seems to have happened after a long spirited drive on the 4th. Is there a better solution than the factory ball cup bushing? Otherwise the car shifts perfectly, it's just the little bit of slop that annoys me. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.

Great video showing the bushings clearly and explaining the details. Thank you.
Thanks for walking through steps for re-aligning the coupler and shift rod!
Very helpful. I spent an hour looking for a video like this.
Love this, thank you! Keep them coming. Subscribed!
Thank you. I have the same problem and now I know what to check. Many thanks.
Thank you so much. You got straight to the point and stayed on topic. I appreciate that.
Thanks. Might look at that for my '79
🕵🏾💯 Awesome video 📹 👏 👌 👍

Thank you for this video!!! Thank you
Does the repositioning of the Parts (Shifting Rod) also apply for a 915 transmission?
Hi. Where do you get your aftermarket parts. I've got an 82 Targa that I'm trying to bring back to life.
Great video, thank you.
Very good thanks

Is this a G50? Same process for 915?
I believe this was a 915...
@@erikgunnerhed8320 if you look at shifting pattern it is not, however, the rest looks like a 915...
