That combine gun can smells fear, don't fear when reloading it
Shipping instructions: "Be gentle. This gun has anxiety. It might not work properly under a lot of stress. Give it a compliment at least 3 times per day, more if used in combat. Reassure that it's doing a great job every time you reload it."
You actually cant reload it when your under fire from hostels

Harry, the combine SMG doesn't take any batteries if you hold the battery then pop out the magazine. You have to pop it out and then take out the batteries.
Sounds like a bug more than a feature.
That's...an interesting bug.
What I think it is happening is that the ammo you find in the world vs. the one you pull out of your backpack are two different entities.
So if you pick up ammo off the ground and try to immediately load it in to the gun: the code isn't there, and might as well be a prop. but if you put it your backpack and pull it out THEN the code is there and can be used to reload the gun.
@@PantherCat64 Thing is sometimes it reloaded with ammo off the ground and sometimes it didnt reload with ammo FROM the backpack

@@doctorkocktor1347 You can also get it in GMod if you spawn a combine (or any enemy that normally carries a gun) with the Alyx Gun and then kill it

honest to god, watching this made me realize something. Valve freaking nailed VR. The RUSSELS make it so you're not walking everywhere to grab stuff as well as being lore friendly and adding an interesting game mechanic. Not to mention the sheer amount of STUFF there is to interact with, it never feel like the game is a barren wasteland, hell I'd say the environment feels better than just about any other game I've seen or played.

At 40:56, that ambience sounds are from Half-Life 2 on the sewer section! When you are shot by one helicopter for the first time. I love it.
That ambience is actually from Half-Life 1, when you're in the Black Mesa sewage treatment. ;)

@@dogman15 I can help you with that. You point me to the exact playthough part and timecode and I'll translate it just for fun. Most captions in this game come in both languages and should not be a problem, while most posters are your basic work safety reminders. There is an entire newspaper article, though, written completely in Russian. All that considered, butchered translations on the zoo map look absolutely out of place.

Alyx uses the combine fabricators because the guns she gets aren't fully upgraded. Gordon doesn't because he gets his guns fresh from dead combine soldiers, but his pistol doesn't have the burst fire option
Honestly, some times I forget Valve is ran by humans, then I see you playing this game and a zombie pretending to be a tiger and then I realize it's ran by humans who know what a sense of humor is.

I've watched through this playlist a few times. I think I figured out what was up with that gun, though by now I'm sure others have as well. I think there was a glitch between the "loading" mechanism, and the fact that the ammo trying to be loaded into it was just picked up. I think that if it were stashed into inventory, THEN used to load the gun, it would have worked.
That's my thoughts, anyway.

Might be a little too late to tell you, but you're aiming your pistol too high.
For most handguns, you have to keep the front post in-line with the two rear posts, which means you've been shooting higher up than you were likely intending.
It's not that big of a deal, especially since you've already beat the game, but if for whatever reason you need to use a real handgun to save your life you now know this.
