This totally redefined what I thought was a proper weight shift. As Todd said, transformative!! Clay, we are all indebted. Your content is outstanding!!

I think this the 3rd time I've watched this. It helps to watch it every once in awhile to keep from falling back into the old habits.

I just shot my lowest score in years this afternoon and I'm blaming my reviewing of this video.

This drill was an absolute game changer for me. I've always had trouble with my weight shift. This was the best explanation I've ever seen or gotten, and I've been taking lessons for the past couple months at $80 an hour!

At that rate, you'd have paid for a few years worth of Top Speed Golf All Access after just about 4 lessons!! 😂

This pump drill video was exactly what I was looking for to help with my hip rotation. Took it to the range and immediately saw results. Love the videos and your explanation of moves. Keep them coming

clay, i just watched the 'natural positioning move' free video and it's like you opened the secret, it worked instantly. i remember it being mentioned years ago in harvey penick's "little red book" but never got it till now. it's like holy cow!!! i'm gonna sign up, again thnx so much.

Emphasis on a back and forth piston movement is more descriptive and effective than the idea of a weight shift. Good lesson!

Agree! Nice piston analogy. On backswing the left shoulder points towards a foot beyond the target ball and on striking the ball the right shoulder is pointed towards the ball, so to achieve the latter the right elbow has to tuck to the front pocket/belt with the left butt and hip rotating out to the back. Back to the driving range... 😁😅

hi Clay, yet again brilliant video. As a single figure handicapper i have never found rotation easy, this lazy rotation and poor weight shift i think has always stopped me getting down to scratch. that along with being 340llbs doesn't help me though. again brilliant instructional video and easy to follow. thank you

How are you doing weight shift though? From back swing to down swing what are you feeling or what is your body doing to get that shift

  • @triscoles
    @triscoles 2 роки тому +1

So on the downswing this model is the opposite to the force pedal model where you press your lead ball of the foot down? (Don't a lot players end the downswing on the toes eg Justin Thomas?) Thanks.

Great drill! One question, the piston drill should be initiated by the upper body or the legs, I.e. the lower body? Thanks!

  • @diggndeeper

Is there a modification for this for senior golfers? I'm having more success with my driver if my lead foot is stationed back half a shoe or so. In other words, my lead toe is aligned with my trail instep.

  • @cbstevek

Some years ago during a lesson, a pro suggested that I not straighten my right leg during the backswing to allow more loading into the right side.. You don't seem to worry about that so much as you swing back and thru. Is that one of those 'manipulations' you mention?

Really bending the back sideways coming into the ball is not for everyone. I have a bad back as do most older people to one extent or another and would probably wind up with a spinal fusion if I really tried to do this consistently. So take this with a grain of salt and adjust to what you an do. And of course do your exercises to protect your spine. Both stretching and weights. .

My only “issue” with this videos and almost all videos alike is that the people executing the demonstration have been swinging golf clubs for years. Give this exact same instruction to someone who is horrible at golf and it doesn’t quite translate the same. With all that being said, I’m heading to the range to practice this now. I hope it helps

fully turning around a centered spine......without a mirror or a camera and you knowing what to look for............it takes effort and the feeling is quite strange........golf is hard.
