You have the best how-to videos on jumping etc I have ever seen. The way you explain things that other youtubers fail to explain altogether is just so good. "Using the hips" (as GMBN puts it) when jumping is something I never understood before, even the reference to bunnyhopping technique, and I couldn't see specifically what they meant even in slowmo. Or "stand up to the jump", that's been repeated over and over but when you stand up straight you get bucked big time if you don't have your weight in the right place (tried that, didn't turn out well), so that advice kinda sucks... But you explain PRECISELY what needs to be done, where your body needs to be and why, in great detail, and what happens if you don't do that etc. Incredibly easy to follow and understand, and the best part is, now that I know in detail what I must do it's so much easier to correct my mistakes. If somebody tells me I didn't use my hips for example, it's impossible to know what I should've done but if somebody tells me where my weight was and where it should've been it's much easier to correct. Anyway, your videos has helped me get on the right track with my technique and I am starting to hit bigger jumps with more confidence. Thank you for that!
i agree with you that the stand up to the jump explanation is lacking. I think it is useful advice, but only if you understand the timing and how it will "feel" versus what you are actually doing. This video does a good job explaining it from lots of different angles and approaches.
9:10 It'd be good to make note on foot position (heels down) too on these. All too often I see people get toes forward/heels up in nervous anticipation (I took sometimes am still guilty of this... My hardtail definitely tells me so where my FS will sometimes be more forgiving), and so they nosedive as soon as they leave the ramp.
Keep them coming I'll watch all winter
Thanks for the shoutout! Another excellent video sir.
These videos will be in my "HowTo" library to help me develop my mtb skills this winter. Blessed with good weather here in the PNW!
You got some good air on that big one.🤘🏼
