This was a breathtaking overland adventure to Hells Canyon. We'll never forget this adventure and hope you enjoyed the video. Did you know Will lost 128GBs of footage from our main camera??? That's why there's very little outside shots of the rigs (except drone shots) until we get stuck in the snow. He just about cried when he found out, but the video turned out pretty great regardless. Copperfield Camp on the Snake is one of my all-time favorite campgrounds. Hells Canyon is where my heart and soul live forever. I have been there so many times, that tunnel is one of my favorite spots lol. When I take my last breath, that's where I want my ashes left, so I can forever see its beauty.
We are in Spain right now…planning our next trip to Hells. I agree with you…it’s world class and we are so blessed to be near it. Thank you for the wonderful comment.
Wow. Those drones shots definitely conveyed how HUGE that that scenery is. Great job and you’re right, many YT videos lack story. There are a few out there who will realize they need to step up their game now! lol
Thank you!! Kate and I are planning to go back in a few weeks. Can’t wait to get back out there! Really appreciate you watching and taking the time to comment!!
Fantastic trip! I've been getting into Overlanding as of the last couple of weeks, but between scouts, having a cheap dad, and just enjoying the outdoors, I've been camping since I was a baby. The more good trips with great friends you can get in, the better! ...also, I'mma need that Jambalaya recipe...
@@AllThingsOverlanding Actually - I think it was tentative driving on my part that got us stuck. I'd love to see that Xterra in action one of these days though!
Man, what an absolutely epic trip. I can’t tell you enough how well done your videos are. From the beautiful drone shots to the outstanding voice overs. You’re by far one of the best and most under rated channels out there in the overlanding space. Just glad I can say I knew you when you were just starting. (Not small, nothing about what you’re doing is small). Great job and keep it up. It was worth the wait.
My son (11) and I go on a boys overlanding trip once a year. Wish I could do more but works sort of gets on the way. We did just over 500 miles on dirt last year to the Steens, Alvord and the Owyhee river canyon lands. It was Epic. This year I really want to go to the Wallowas and Hells Canyon. Are you sharing the route that you took on this trip?
It’s so great to hear you get out with your son. Alvord to the Owyhees is an awesome trip, hope you had a blast. DM me on IG if you want to chat directly about this route. Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment.
Thank you!!! We’ve had it out on a few trips now, and I think it works as well as the lantern style. Love the size, but have to remember to recharge it or things get buggy!
Wow what a beautiful trail over the top! You are braver than me but Lance would be down to try it I'm sure! That jambalaya looks amazing! We'd love to try this next time we overland if you wouldn't mind sharing the recipe :) Yummy! -Jenny and Lance
Hi, we exchanged text yesterday on UA-cam. I have watched several of your videos over the last few weeks. Here's why I like what you do. It's family thing. Not that meany do it like that. Your narigation is informative but not (techie) of silly. Keep going! It will grow. also I don't drop Radom positive comments just to do it. That's a FYI I found your channel when I saw your military trailer rebuild.
Kevin - I remember your comment from yesterday on our latest vid...and it's really cool to read this comment as well. Thank you for the feedback, it's really encouraging to hear the style we're going for is resonating...I really appreciate that you took the time to leave this comment considering you don't do it often. And I'm editing more Trailer vids right now!!! More to come. Thanks again.
Thank you so much, so glad you enjoyed the video. We don't post GPS coords, but if you want a bit more info you can DM us on IG. Thanks for taking the time to comment!
You had such better light for all of your shots than I did when I went. Absolutely amazing, man. By the way, I saw the same road up the Oregon side of the Canyon. Didn't venture over there, but good to know you can actually get through that way.
I actually LOST 128gigs of footage on that trip! It was bananas...we were blessed with great weather the whole time. So this year we're hitting the road up on the Idaho side as well...it will be fun to see that place from both sides of the river. Thanks for giving it a watch!
Great stuff! How'd the battery powered Thermacell function? I've wanted one forever but have been hesitant because of mixed reviews and needing to carry butane cartridges.
The Thermocells have worked well for us. We don’t have crazy bug conditions most of the places we go, so we haven’t put it to any extreme tests. The battery powered option has been just as good (so far) as the butane version, but it’s much smaller and easier to pack. Just remember to charge it, as we forgot this weekend and had more bugs than we would have liked!
Awesome man...my family loves your videos. Your voice over and editing is amazing and we feel like we are on an adventure with y’all. Do you know of any mild/easy overland trips around the treasure valley area. We just bought our first RTT and are looking to take an adventure of the beaten path but we are not familiar with any good spots. We love mountain lakes, and rivers, thick forest. Our Jeep Cherokee does not like steep hills though. Any advice would or directions would be much appreciated. Thank you for sharing your adventures with us my fellow Idahodian.
I know my comment is a bit late but I'd love to take that same route with my wife. We just got married recently and she's been wanting to go that way. If you could pm me the routes you took I'd appreciate it.
@@Venture2Roam Thank you! Since we travel full time in our RV and also overland we def have plenty of adventures. We just gotta learn to hit record haha
A Corolla could probably make it, but I wouldn't do it..things that seem very easy in a lifted Jeep might be very different in something with less than 5 inches of ground clearance and street tires. You can drive on pavement to the Hells Canyon look out point though.
Better than Netflix for sure. 😃 When did you go? Trying to gauge when s good time to plan a trip that way would be. I'm not super far away, in Utah, but still far enough I can't just pop in.
We went in late May. The weather can be variable then though. Last year we got snowed out at that time. I’d wanna go before July though as it gets incredibly hot there in the summer. Thanks for watching!
Hey there thanks for watching! It’s not a sticker, it’s a gripper for grabbing the bill oh the hat. Kind of wierd, but I’ve gotten used to it. It’s a Melin hat if you’re interested
In 2018 I drove a 2016 Subaru Outback from Richland, Oregon to Huntington, Oregon along the Oregon side of the Snake river. It is bad road, steep and no guard rails. I do not recommend it. Where I was close to the snake river, it stank like a sewer. I was alone. It was foolish of me.
Nothing like watching city folk try to buy their way thru an adventure, not realizing that with that they've already lost the adventure. Money don't buy everything. True experience will get you much farther. Plus you will end up with a better work out. I understand you're travelling with your wife and youngans, but they've got to learn some time too. Unless you would prefer they also learn with the big $$$ method. "
City folk? I grew up on a dirt road in Weiser, Idaho. But who cares if I didn’t? Our adventures are our own, and you don’t get to have a say in how I raise my family. Be careful of criticizing others whom you do not know.
It’s all big money to get the abundance of necessary gear to make these trips possible, especially with a family of 4. For all you know, Will and his wife have saved up all their lives and this was their vision. Like mentioned above, careful with your criticism of others you do not know. Will, we are new subscribers and are just flying through your content. Well done on the whole production and we look forward to enjoying your future content.
