  • In this Video I build the Forecastle Deck of the 1:200 scale Battleship Yamato. On this channel we like to do flight simulation, and scale model building. My videos include a wide variety of aircraft and types of flying ranging in everything from small general aviation aircraft to airliners, and military aircraft. I use a variety of different simulators to include Microsoft Flight Simulator (MSFS), X-Plane, and Digital Combat Simulator (DCS). We also like to test our landing skills at various airports that present their own unique challenges in different aircraft as we explore their different capabilities. There are also some flight tutorials for either the real or simulated world, and recreations of some of the worst accidents to better understand what happened, and learn from the past.

great progress on the beast! Looks amazing. If I may suggest something in regards to the lighting (for future projects), sand the inside face of the clear plastic as that will not only give you the glass look on the outside but it will diffuse the lighting evenly - making it look even more realistic. I'm glad you went with warm white instead of cool white - so many people choose cool white and it looks terrible.

That’s a great idea! Thanks for the tip. I will do that next time.

This is such an education to watch. Really respect your attention to detail and high standards, though I gotta say I'd have been happy enough with that wood deck. But you've given me plenty to think about!

Thanks for the nice comment. The details that come in this kit are really good, and honestly there are no aftermarket products required to have a highly detailed model. This has not been the case in the past which is why I went ahead and got the aftermarket deck before looking at the kit closer. I think I will still use the metal gun barrels, but we will take a closer look at those when we get to building the guns.

Great job so far! I've enjoyed the detailed explanations and your work with the photoetch pieces. The LED lighting looks fantastic. As for the wooden deck seams, next time you could cut planks from extra pieces or even from the central areas of decks and use those planks to cross over the gap. Remove the planks that were on both sides of the seams and use them to fill the holes left where you removed the long planks. Here's an example of what I mean: 3:52 ua-cam.com/video/60oBRwihUaY/v-deo.html

Thanks so much! I’m glad you are enjoying the videos. Thanks for the tip I will try it next time I find myself in that situation. I don’t build ships very often, but like to tackle these kind of projects because it gets me out of my comfort zone. It’s exactly those kinds of tips like you provided that I learn from to get better so thanks again.

On the kure 1/10 model, there is a little hole instead of a small raised stud found on the tip of the bow on the 1/200 right below the golden chrysanthemum. Is it covered up, or is there actually not a hole there? Im not well vested in ships, so I'm wondering if it is supposed to be a pipe or not.

On this one you are right there is a round raised thing, but honestly I’m not sure what it is. I will have to look in the Anatomy of the ship book that I am using for reference when I get a chance. If I find out what it is I will let you know.
