My wife had watched the your unboxing from afar and she said,"I'll never see you for 5 years and the Grandkids will be out of college don't do it!". I couldn't do. What a great build, your so amazing, the craftsman is just mind blowing!.Keep it up!. Mikie T...Tucson,AZ.
I don't comment too often, but this video warrants the highest praise for model making. Having watched all 29 installments during the build, this cliff notes version truly demonstrates the magnitude of this project and the incredible skill and talent to pull it off. Congrats and looking forward to further Titanic videos.
Never in my life have I seen a model built with such painstaking attention to detail. What a beauty she is. I served with her aboard the USS Jack Williams (FFG-24) during the first Gulf War. She was a sight to see in battle as she launched her Tomahawks toward downtown Baghdad. I'll never forget that. Anyway, the Mighty Mo holds a special place in my heart and I loved watching you bring her to life right before my eyes. Thanks for that.
I ( Tony not Kathy) am writing this from Oahu. We just visited the Mighty Mo yesterday. Your model is breath taking, and does that beautiful shop proud. I know how much work and skill goes into these super detailed ship models , and the dedication to take on this project is admirable . I especially like your oil canning technique.. looks really great . A year and half seems like a short time for such a masterpiece. Great job! Tony
Nice build man. I say this every time I see one of these, my Dad was a huge time model builder. If you aren’t wearing breathing protection while using most of these chemicals, please start. He was diagnosed with AML (it’s a type of leukemia) largely caused by the benzenes found in a lot of modeling chemicals
I am a beginner modeller. Your work is admirable to say the least. I wonder if there is anyone that had watched this and not assembled a model before? This work is beyond difficult. You have great skill and a true craftsman.
I built the USS Missouri from a Sterling balsa kit, put R/C controls and engine, made the turrets go up and down and side by side, even a radar that rotated.
Oops, I forgot to add. Outstanding build. I particularly like the very convincing grey weathered wooden deck planking. Much more convincing than the Tamiya 'Deck Tan' look often seen on builds.
O.M.G.! 25 minutes Shorter than the 1/700 metal build that I just sat thru a got sick of watching after 30mins! Thanks for building the OLD Version of the Mo, my home for 8 yrs. Ret. OSC, PLANK OWNER & Golden Shellback. Now, If only someone would build a Post WWII Missouri BB63, " VIS AD LIBERTATEM " but we said "Strength for FREEDOM! Thanks MWMS for your time ( going thru 29 videos) and doing her justice down to the Hull damage when she ran aground in 1950 as well as the fantail kamikaze damage!
Great model I've never made a model of a battleship before but watching this has made me think I may give it a try one day. I admire your patience and perseverance, you've paid true respect to this icon of American naval history. God Bless you and best wishes from NZ.😉 Happy Christmas!
Saw this exact kit in store and almost bought it because of this series. Never built a boat before so that stopped me because I know I would have used your series as a guide. The amount of work you put into this thing would overwhelm me at my current skill level so I put it off. Maybe one day I'll take a stab at it, but for now I'll hone my craft until I'm able to take something like this on! Excellent work, keep making these videos as they inspire all of us to strive to do better!
Mad skills. 100% perfection. Missouri has always been my most favorite ship arguably only the USS Constitution is more historically relevant. Your build is simply incredible and totally does justice to this incredible warship. Bravo. Your skill and perseverance is unmatched.
Nice, clean work, as good as one can expect! Congratulations! I do not have the means to afford projects such as this, so I take great enjoyment in watching videos of genuinely delightful excellence, were technicality and artistry blend into true mastery. I can do some of this, though not to the extraordinary level you exemplify. Moreover, I have so many ideas for such projects, though even were I able to afford them, I could not accomplish a fraction of them. I wish I could hire hundreds (thousands?) of people like you to do them, and make videos detailing (and super-detailing) such build projects, and explaining how you accomplish each step. I personally would fully crew the ship, with all the defensive gunnery busily striking down air raid violators!
This was such a fantastic build. It was this series that made me finally start my own build, and taught me so much about working with photo etch that I actually now enjoy the process. Great recap video, too!
I am mainly a sci-fi modeler but I have built a few ships in my 50 years of model building. First of all I would like to say you did an outstanding job especially with all the hull details you did. We all make our little mistakes now and then but I must say this is the best build I have ever seen. Museum quality perhaps. I decided to change things up a bit as it's been a few years since I built a ship model. I picked up the Academy 400 scale Missouri and 600 scale Enterprise aircraft carrier models from Freetime hobbies as the size of both fit my bill and the price wasn't way out of budget. I did pick up photo etch railing for both as the give the model a more realistic look and not so toy like. Other than that they will be built out of box with whatever needs to be corrected using my own modeling skills. Seeing both kits reviews they seem to be downsized versions of the 350th Tamiya kits. The parts and the parts tree layouts seem to be identical. The Missouri measures 26 and 3/8 inches long and the Enterprise is 22 inches long. Perfect size for my space in my model room. My question for you is I mainly use Tamiya acrylics as the Model Master enamels are no longer available. I want to get the colors close and I mix my own paints many times which is not a problem for me. What Tamiya blue colors would you recommend I start with to get me close. I use the XF acrylics and I'm not worried about being exactly spot on to the measure 22 scheme just so it is somewhat close. I'm looking for getting the darker color on the hull close and the color on the wood decking. Any info would be greatly appreciated. You and your family have a Happy and Healthy New Year and stay safe.
So when I ran out of “Weather Deck Blue” I mixed my own out of other Model Master colors. I started out with a dark blue, I believe or a blue grey. Something along those lines. What surprised me was I needed to add A LOT of red to the blue in order to go the right direction for the weather deck that I had already painted. Looking at my small collection of Tamiya paints on the shelf….. I would start with a purple and add dark blue to it. The purple is “lighter” than the dark blue. But the dark blue should take you very quickly in the right direction. If it seems like it needs some grey or even green, just add them as necessary. I guess what I’m trying to say is start with just blue or something light blue. But don’t be surprised if a lot of red is the next base color.
I served under Capt. Kaiss aboard a Cruiser GG-32 before he went to Command the USS Missouri BB-63, you can see him decommissioning her on U-tube, he was the last Battle Ship sailor, check out the history, also the Marker that says "WW II end here" was removed and on display in General McCarther's tomb in Norfolk Va. while the ship was in commission.
Brilliant modelbuilding and very nice video. Regarding the kit, at first I thought the manufacturer really dropped the ball with their version of the Kingfisher... then I learned that the Mighty Mo operated Seahawks. I learn something new every day.
I am a Navy veteran and retired Army 1SG. I switched from the Navy to the Army and near the end of my career I was being sent to Korea. I PCS’d my family from Ft. Campbell, KY to Ft. Lewis and shipped out to Camp Casey, Korea for a year. Before heading out we went to Bremerton and got great pictures of the Mighty Mo in mothballs. When I returned to Lewis and retired, they were towing her out to sea heading for Hawaii. Many people were there watching and it was sad. During Ocean Safari 85… on an UNREP at 0300hrs., with my destroyer starboard of the USNS refueling ship and all of a sudden we saw something huge on the port side of the oiler. Got bigger and bigger and then a bunch of bright lights popped on and I immediately saw the number 61. I started to weep as I knew the history of the BB’s and to me, “they” were the US NAVY. Best UNREP of my time in the Navy. 🫡
I watched the full build series and its just amazing the next level detail you put into this model I'd be dam proud of myself if that was my build well done a a fantastic job
That's absolutely amazing I really enjoyed watching the video and I am very impressed with the craftsmanship and the exceptional work put in this model. Very well done, hat's off to you. 👍👍👍👍👍👍
This is incredible workmanship & display of skill! (And PATIENCE!!) I would love to have a display model like this, but I would have to purchase a built model as this would take me forever to even attempt building. I love all the detail work. The aircraft catapults are really impressive.
The superb physical skills and thoughtful attention to details are a absolute fact in creating this model. HOWEVER the soundtrack (It is doubtful to even be called music) is distracting enough to spoil the presentation. To say nothing of how unrelated it is. THINGS MATTER . . . in every aspect of life.
I watched the whole series from the beginning, since I was also modelling the Iowa. Great to see how you handle things. It is most interesting to see how we differ in what is important to model. Once you decided to model the kamikaze strike, it would have been hard to not model the tin-canning too. Kudos to you for a great accomplishment.
Congratulations on completion of this kit! It was a lot of fun watching you, and I learned a lot too! Have you ever considered doing a 1/200 of the Yamato?
I can do better than that. Here, hold my beer. 🤣 Levity aside, this is truly an awesome piece of work. The amount of time and efforts put into this. The imagination of the builder. The details is just unbelievable. 👍😊
My wife had watched the your unboxing from afar and she said,"I'll never see you for 5 years and the Grandkids will be out of college don't do it!".

Thank you, Sir. For your service and your kind words.
My compliments. You're certainly an expert modelmaster builder, of kit models.
This has got to be the best model I have ever seen, good lord
Thank you, sir!

Thanks Tony! (Not Kathy 😉) I appreciate it! And enjoy the islands! It’s an amazing place!
She’s a beautiful ship. Excellent dedication to your build. The Missouri ship museum would be proud to have your ship on display. Well done!
I cried after I watched this. Amazing. BRAVO, MAESTRO, BRAVO!

You can safely put “detailed oriented” on your resume. 😆
This is one of the best models I've ever seen
I am a beginner modeller. Your work is admirable to say the least. I wonder if there is anyone that had watched this and not assembled a model before? This work is beyond difficult. You have great skill and a true craftsman.
Magnificent build !!! You have to put it under glass to protect it !!
It's amazing. Building the USS Missouri and still able to work; seems like you're holding down two jobs at once. Well Done! Eric...Looks great!
A true master at his craft makes it look easy,a truly outstanding piece of work.

Remember the build well, watched it from start to finish. Great build! Thanks for the review.
That plate scalloping to make the hull look weld plated was genius.

That's museum quality work
The detailed effects for the hull plates is amazing. BZ

i'd have loved to see the deck have a uniform grey paint job but the fact that its already good and done by hand is just so nice
Nice, clean work, as good as one can expect! Congratulations!

Awesome work all round. I have not worked with photo etch but seeing your skill gives me the urge to try. So glad I found your channel
Next level modeling
Excellent synopsis of a fabulous build...I enjoyed each video for this one, you should be proud of your work!

I just started my own large-scale model. Revell's 1/72 Type IXC Uboat.
Brilliant modelbuilding and very nice video.
Regarding the kit, at first I thought the manufacturer really dropped the ball with their version of the Kingfisher... then I learned that the Mighty Mo operated Seahawks. I learn something new every day.
Absolutely amazing! I wish my hands were as steady as the builder’s.
Very impressive.
A fantastic video and a stunning build. Your hard work has paid off in spades
Very skilfully done, enjoyed the viewing, thanks

this is by far the most hyper-realistic model i've ever seen
Amazing!

There I say, superb! Museum Quality Work!
Fantastic video......super helpful
Awesome...watching Titanic, too, and hope you do this for it as well. Thanks!
That's absolutely amazing I really enjoyed watching the video and I am very impressed with the craftsmanship and the exceptional work put in this model. Very well done, hat's off to you. 👍👍👍👍👍👍
Great Job, Mine would not have come out nearly as good with out Your videos Thank You
That awesome! I’m so glad they helped!
This is incredible workmanship & display of skill! (And PATIENCE!!)

THINGS MATTER . . . in every aspect of life.
Ship look different nowadays. But putting the pics of the video next to the real thing it looks great. Luckily I live next door to the real thing.
Can't stress this too much - a true masterpiece. Phenomenal work! Congrats to you and thanks so much for sharing with the rest of us.
WOW! An amazing job.
Bravo, sir! Simply amazing!
WOW...now it just needs a Yamato in the same scale ;-)
love the waterline marker

well done - curtis seahawks look great
Looking good!!!
God dam, that thing is a city on water!
Well done!🤗
I think this model is the best in the world.
a lot of work! so cool video! thanks!
Those are some real skills you have there. I did the 1/350 Tamiya kit back in the late 80s, but it pales in comparison to this!
Thanks!
Excellent
Awesome....congratulations from Brasil...
Pretty ship.
☮
Great video,do the same with Arizona ,please!
Okay! I was thinking about that!
Nice work!
Outstanding!! Thank you for sharing.
Adding some detail , sell detailed kits also , adds to the variety on the shelf 😀😀😈😈😈😉😉
Très beau résultat ...Bravo ...
awesome !!!
fabulous!
Congratulations on completion of this kit! It was a lot of fun watching you, and I learned a lot too! Have you ever considered doing a 1/200 of the Yamato?
Thanks. No, I don’t think Yamato is that great. It just doesn’t speak to me for some reason 🤷🏻♂️
Great work! Find a great spot and give it a little lighting.
I can do better than that. Here, hold my beer. 🤣 Levity aside, this is truly an awesome piece of work. The amount of time and efforts put into this. The imagination of the builder. The details is just unbelievable. 👍😊
👏👏👏 Amasing build! 👍👍👍👍
Que se puede comentar...es para un museo, increible el detalle y amor puesto en este kit
Great video!!!!! I did watch the build before. Love that model and what you did to it! Ever consider building it in 1/87th scale?????
Is it even available in 1/87th scale? How big would it be at that scale?
@@davidlambert3892 no. It would have to be a scratch build…..
Around 9 feet long… I think…
amazing!!!
One day i shall build some model this big
absolutley stunning build, a credit to your patience, one question however why did you paint the deck black and not its original wood colour?
It’s not black. It’s a dark blue. Because it was stained blue in WWII. After the war they removed the stain.
@@TheMidwestModelShop thanks for correcting me. Everyday is a school day as they say.
i wish they did more models at this scale
very nice!
I wish i had the time to learn how to do weathering on my models. Could you put together a "Weathering for Dummies" playlist?
That’s a hard “maybe”. Lots of people have great weathering tutorials out there, already.
Awesome. How long did it take you to finish?
About 9months
I wish I had the dexterity to do the metal work.
Thanks for the info.
Masterpeace.....
Amazing ! What colors have u used for the hull ?
I'm pretty sure the wooden decks were way lighter in color.
magnificent
Love this too but what about the Titanic?
It’s not done, yet.
Please help! I have a 1/350 USS North Carolina and need a display case. The first one I ordered, the person building it passed. TIA
Très très beau modèle bravo
