This song is my dad's favorite...I can remember him putting this record on and us just jamming to many great times..and my dad can't even hear it...he's deaf..but he can most definitely feel it...we can be driving the road..and as long as it's loud enough & he can feel it among many other songs he'll kno what's playing from which record...he knows this song by heart..it always amazed me that he never could listen to it but feel the bass and beats ...this is his anthem and I'll probably play it for him at his funeral so that after he passes maybe he can finally hear what a great song this is..and how much his love for song has influence me to appreciate being able to hear music ....everytime I listen to songs I am so grateful to be able to hear ...never take your senses for granted...and always rock on my friends....🤟🤘😎🎸🥁🎧💿🎼🎵🎹🎛🎚🎙🔣🎺

One of the great underrated classic rock tunes of all time. Perfect guitar and keyboard tones, plus English vocals. Restrained guitar. Gorgeous and heavy hitting at the same time. Proves you don't have to crank a song up to get an emotional response. And that keyboard masterpiece in mid-song is unforgettable. And one of the first 6 minute rock hits on top 40 radio. "Hold your head up. Hold your head high." This song definitely withstands the test of time. In fact today's music is much too simple to compete with this awesome hit. Tip- Play it loud for full effect.

This is timeless perfection. It's like every time I hear it, it's brand new. It's progressive, got a funky groove to it then the keyboards just take over. Just does not get old. Classic masterpiece, arrangement just so with timed breaks all at precise moments. A pick up moment at the right time.

First time I ever heard this song, I was with my brother and a few friends, and I had my car parked on the creek bed with the radio on. Walking around with a brew when it first came on at the very start of it, it touched me in a way and had me hooked. I went right straight and bought it on cassette and finally found it on a cassette with other hits from that era. 😎 Memories man...

This was my Mom's ANTHEM! She'd pop a tape into the RCA Mark-8 miniplayer she kept in the kitchen and jam while she prepared dinner for her husband and seven children. We were generally banned from the kitchen during meal prep, except for me, her dedicated "little helper" and her music is forever etched into my DNA. _"Listen to this, Donovan! Listen closely. It's not just random words. It has meaning. It goes for everyone, not just women."_ It became the song I most closely associate with my relationship with the greatest Mom a little boy could ask for.

@@grahamtrezise1114 My Mom is the greatest. She wasn't without faults -- often impatient, a stickler for the rules, and her draconian punishments, while rare, were meted out with neither mercy nor compunction. Her infamous paddle, "Captain Hineygrinder" was feared up and down the bucolic streets of Palmer Township. But she was intelligent, strong-willed, fair, sensible, had no "favorites" and was the world's greatest listener. She taught us to be disciplined, organized, responsible, conscientious, clean, proud, dignified and let us know that there was _nothing_ we weren't capable of. Her expectations were high and so were the successes of her children. Her six sons learned to respect women not through indoctrination, but by example. Her home and family were her whole world, and still are.

The Zombies Begin Here and Odyssey & Oracle are two of the greatest albums of all time.. I can't say I was there at the time (my mum was and she has NEVER heard of the Zombies) so you may be correct about limited commercial success! Unfortunately popular culture pushes all the rubbish to the front.

Music is art. As such ... it's sometimes interpreted to mean different things depending upon one's point of view. I think you really had to be there growing up in the summer of "72" to be able to relate. It was a magical time to be coming of age after Woodstock and the hippie generation of the 60's. " Hold your head up , hold your head high " could have been an anthem for the next generation of youngers coming up through. There were good times and bad times but we sure had fun and pushed the boundaries. Happy New Year 2024 everyone.
