tbh without a machine to build frames its better to buy them. the materials are far cheaper if you build them, but your time is valuable and at 60 cents a frame to buy in bulk from us, its the better way to go.
@@FunnyBugBeesandWoodWorks i dont use frame but if i would i'd certainly buy em.(at low price like you say of course) on ebay and amazon i see alot of scammer selling 10 frames kit for 59 bucks lol
i don't use wax foundation nor cell rite, i use a wooden wedge, i put the wedge down in the grove under the top bar what it is a wooden starter strip with brush on bees wax, Make a bunch of 17 " long 1"wide, thick as the grove 1/8"> I FOUND OUT that bees will drawl this out, just as fast, if not faster, than wax foundation or cell rite! So i save all them green backs : ) from wax foundation, cell rite Also i had luck with just putting bees wax down into the grove of the top bar as well> but this take more wax ! Either way they make beautiful natural comb > This is what bees suppose to do> Do what bees suppose to do NATURAL they do it FASTER > they question wax foundation and cell rite, THEY DON'T know what its for! Cell rite is plastic ! It confuse them, they may or may not touch it " GOT TO HAVE CONSTRUCTION BEES TO MAKE COMB " loose your construction bees and the hive will not grow! POINT IS KEEP THEM WORKING! drop some empty frame in there with starter strips to make them work. Lots of time i just make them make comb for other hives and things like honey brood ect. every 2 yrs i change out the brood comb, now my bees got smart and fill the old brood comb with honey. They know i will pull it out > THIS WILL STOP AFB AND EFB from materializing , IT ATTACKS OLD BROOD COMB
I use wax coated Rightcell and have never had a problem with them not taking to it. Not saying you dont have different results but its always worked for me and once purchased you never have to buy it again, you just scrape the wax off and put it right back in...
Got that rite> i will never buy it again. i tried cell rite dry, wax coated. They still want touch it. My bees drawls out natural comb faster Saves my pocket book too
Excellent videos and great ideas. By the way greetings from Puerto Rico. Please let me know if you shipp these frames and for how much do you sell them.
We can ship to Puerto Rico, however when we ship out of the United States payment is by money order only as the risk of fraud is very high. The price of our frames when ordered in case quantities is $1.02 per frame and a case is 100 frames. So $102.00 per case + shipping. If you give me your address I can give you a shipping quote as well. Request a shipping quote to us via email at sales@funnybugbees.com
So just out of curiosity, have you ever tried using oak scraps or anything other than pine to build these? I'm just thinking I can get thin stock oak for free but wasnt sure other than weight if there was a reason not to use it
which is why we sell both assembled and unassembled frames. I think your missing the point of the video, and that is "how to" make frames, its not a video about which is a better method of procurement purchasing vs. building. The viewers probably already thought about this, but thanks for the tip.....
I have access to a lot of wood for free and my table saw. I do not have access to a bunch of extra money. I can make these frames better now because of this video, almost entirely free, and hundreds of them, before they would arrive if I had them shipped. To me making them is both quicker and much more economical. Thank you for the video.
i do have employees that work in the shop and in the office, but as far as making videos, i do that in my spare time and so usually am alone. It's a hobby project this channel, so videos tend to get better as i learn. Im not sure anyone on youtube started with a media arts degree and had WOW factor videos from the first episode.
Well done man! simple and straight forward for real
Thank you!! A table saw is about all I have So this video rocked!
Thanks Adam! I appreciate it.
i just use flat top bars.... wow you guys are skilled and patient

Frames are a pain to build without dados! Great video very informative. Any chance you have a pdf with instructions?
No PDF, but you can find the plans in the book titled "Building Beehives for Dummies".

for us here, pine is the cheapest lumber, so its what we use. Any wood will work, if you have access to cheap oak, I say use it :)
What is the name of your miter sled
That one is the Kreg Precision Miter Guage. Here is a link: www.rockler.com/power-tool-accessories/saw-accessories/miter-gauges-and-sleds
Would love if you could send me a pdf on deep and medium thanks
