  • Animal Flow is a structured series of animal-style movements that can be linked together to form flows (similar to yoga, calisthenics and capoeira). It's good for building mobility, flexibility, strength and developing motor control.
As an almost 40 year old masters track athlete, strength and speed is not something I lack but I could do with more flexibility and mobility. So, in this video, after a season of hard track training and racing, I try Animal Flow for 30 days to see if I can experience and gain some of the proclaimed benefits.
AS a side challenge I want to see if I can master the lizard crawl.

Nice one. 49 here. Been doing AF for 6.5 years. Fell in love with it after weekend seminar learning.
It’s the core of my entire fitness balanced with GMB calesthenics, rings, rucking and concept 2 rower.
I spent 25 years in the gym, I don’t think I’ll ever go back.

Wow thats amazing! I am still using a lot of AF techniques as part of my warm ups and training sessions. You've inspired me to dust my rings off and give them a go too!

Awesome vid! I started practicing AF last year. I have no athletic background so I experienced huge physical and coordination improvement after 10-20 occasions. You've given me inspiration to continue my AF outdoors.

Been practicing AF for a few weeks and I gotta say, perhaps my favourite aspect of it is getting my hands dirty. You feel this connection to the ground which to you is, unless you're a gardener, pretty much completely foreign. You're 'touching grass' if you will. :)

Very cool vid. Thanks for making it.
Any chance you could make a playlist of the animal flow videos you think are the best ones to follow?

Hey! Thanks for the kind words. I edited the descitption with videos in three categories. I would follow along the first flow and learn some crawling techniques and just practise those for a while until you get used to the movements. Then progress through the rest. Good luck and happy flowing!

Almost 50 year old getting ready to embark on a 30 day animal flow challenge after 35 years of weight lifting. I'm interested to see if I can actually relax into the movement vs tensing up like I'm lifting.

Amazing! I think you’ll learn to ease into the movements pretty quickly if you’re coming from a good level of fitness. Might feel clunky to start though 😄 Let me know how you get on.
