So you say opple/opple cider? Or is a phone app an opp? Isn’t it Apple? Thus Apricot? 🤪😜 accents are fun, not to shame. It’d be fun to hear your accent and how all the words play together.
Jameson Stout is my favorite whiskey outside of Scotland, and y'all did it dirty. I recently met another university student at a student event, who happened to have Jameson Stout in his hip flask. I was so goddamn tempted to drink his entire flask when he offered me a sip and I told him it's my favorite.
Thanks guys...nothing like waiting to find out the best Jameson whiskey, only to find out you can't get it anymore. Just kidding, I actually learned a lot about comparing whiskey by watching that. I am going to A to B compare what I have in my bar just to see how different it comes out compared to my assumptions on them individually.
Regular Jameson is soooo good! I recently poured a little just because it was in the front and didn't feel like digging around. Then I did some things and made some food etc... and finally sat down and by the time I had a sniff and a sip, I had forgotten what I had poured. And it was great!! Perfect, in the sense that there is nothing wrong with it. And I was like "Wait... what did I pour?!! This is great!" Was pleasantly surprised when I had remembered what I had poured 😊
@philip863 Still haven't tried/opened/figured out if I have it. I'll look through my bottles shortly and if I have it, I will try it tonight in an A/B comparison and let you know 👍
I have a bottle of uncracked Gold Reserve. Picked it up years ago with by best friend who has since passed away. The mind won't let me sell or drink it... Enjoyed this video.
THANK YOU!! I find it so helpful when you guys blindly rank the core line up of big brands. I was watching the channel before I turned 21. Once I finally became of age, I couldn’t tell a difference in the bottles that I was buying. I was about to stop drinking whiskey entirely until I noticed a dramatic difference between Jameson Black Barrel and Jack Daniel’s.
This has blown my mind a little. I’m a huge Jameson stout fan, and for ages you guys have too. But now lined it up last. Am going to have to try some others now to see what I’m missing. Fun vid!
Blinds are always entertaining. I've done them many times with my stock. In fact, last year my wife and I set up daily two bottle blinds for each other as an advent calendar. It was so fun and educational that we plan to do it again this year. 🥃
I'm still mad they discontinued the Jameson Gold Reserve. It was easily the best, and at the time it was discontinued ~5 years ago, it was only like $80, which seems like a steal today.
Love the format, the secrets to comparing that you share with viewers is invaluable. My Journey into the crazy whisky world started over 15 years ago (when I became whisky insane) One of the first 5 bottles that myself and friends had and fell in love with was "Gold". We all called it our gateway drug... I mean whisky. We would tell everyone about how if you did not 'get' whisky, you would after trying Gold. Then there was a brief period where it became scarce so 4 of us ordered a case, and shared the cost. This was a big deal back then, as only a nut job would ever buy 3 bottles of the same spirit. Keep in mind that this was before I could drive around my city and find multi-hundreds of bottle choices that we have today. I don't return to it as often as I should, but was both sad and happy when I you mentioned the 'no more' status as I have one uncorked bottle still. My number one Jameson is Black. It is good enough that I will always have a bottle, and usually buy several a year. It stands on its own in a glass like few can and makes the best cocktail, as it still stands taller than all its co conspirators in the drink, it shines and makes them shine. Fav "Irish Old" or "Coffee cube Irish Old". I have been lucky to try and or own all those bottles in your lineup. The cask strength I bottled in the distillery is a top 5 today out of many hundreds. For my 50th we did tours of 27 distilleries around the regions and the Cork tour was the best for cool learning, and 2nd in food. (Ardbeg was first for food). Love your team and channel. Thanks for being a positive proponent for our passion in all things spirits.
Well, I'm pleased to see my favourite - Cooper's Croze - was liked by all. I haven't tried the Black Barrel, so that is now on my 'to do' list. I did try the Gold Reserve before it was discontinued... but I honestly can't remember anything about it, so it can't have made much of an impression!
GAH! I had to add Jameson Gold to my vault list JUST when I get back from TX 🥲 A sincere thank you to Rex for taking on Betterhelp as a sponsor. I once used alcohol to cope with my mental illness through my 20's and 30's. I consider myself lucky that I didn't get myself killed during those days. I found whiskey, learned to appreciate it, and stopped using alcohol as a crutch. I finally found medication that helps me manage my mental illness, so I use my past challenging experiences to encourage people to seek help. 🖖😎🥃
Loved this video. I just love Jameson. Crested is my favourite. They have a new pot still here in Ireland that is part of their core range. It is amazing
Black barrel was the first Irish whiskey that I found the shortbread cookie note in. Granted it was also like only my third bottle of Irish but I like it a lot
unfortunately better help are a really bad service, they got into huge controversy a few years back and essentially exploit those with nowhere else to turn. i wish you luck with your future counselling, you can do some real good in the world
I had Jameson for the first time in decades back in May. Jameson was my best friend's favorite whiskey back in gradschool I the early 90s. I was not a fan. My mom, now in her late 70s, buy Jameson by the handle. So, anyway, turns out I was surprised at how much I liked it.
I drank it in shots in college and loathed it, aside from its effects. Seemed to get one drunker than other alcohols. Have yet to revisit it since I learned to sip and enjoy whiskey. Maybe soon.
My local museum that calls itself a liquor store actually had a bottle of Jameson Gold Reserve in there case when I went by there a few weeks ago. I think they were asking like $1,000 for it. I will have to go by and see if it is there still even though I would not be buying it.
Excellent episode. I used to get the classic Jameson quite often and have it on the rocks. Haven't explored many of their other options besides the stout which I wasn't a huge fan of.
Love Jameson. The 18 cask strength is fantastic. Wish they would bring back the Gold. It is expensive at auctions but was not when is was a core release.
What I love about your videos is your overall love of a wide variety of whiskies! I also enjoy all kinds of different whiskies - been drinking them since my prep school days in Scotland. I also love sampling different tequilas, mezcales, sotoles, rums and to a lesser extent, brandies.
I have had only two styles of Jameson. The first was the plain Jane Jameson, which I bought when I was fairly new to whiskey. Even then, I kind of shrugged it off. A little while back, I decided to give the brand another try, but with a different version. I randomly picked the Black Barrel. That might have subconsciously been influenced by my liking Mount Gay Black Barrel rum, but I can't say for sure. After tasting the Jameson Black Barrel, I quickly decided that it was a whiskey I would buy again. It is far superior to the regular version. Now I will have to give the Gold Reserve a try, and maybe the Cooper's Croze as well. Edit: Well, shit! I just saw what the Gold Reserve costs. I'm going to need a good lottery ticket first.
Saw the video of you to on your Middleton tour - one of your best videos. Now hear you went to dinner with the cooper??!! Can you do a video on your visit to Ireland as a hole and give us the behind-the-scene stuff you experienced - other great people you met, pub/places you visited. We just went in August and had a blast! Wanna go back.
The big surprise here is that the IPA edition beat the stout editon. Considering how good most stout tastes, and how bad most IPA tastes, I didn’t see that coming. Also, the panel described the IPA Jameson’s as tasting “metallic” and like a piece of paper in the mouth. Well, there’s no accounting for taste, when all’s said and done.
Nice, maybe do the same with a bunch of buffalo trace products, or all weller bottles? would be fun to see if the price matches your perception of quality, etc.
Not gonna lie I didn't know know there are multiple varieties of Jameson so I kinda expected the whole video to just be them trying the exact same Jameson and struggling to point out the differences between the same fucking bottle or better yet making up differences that aren't there 😂
I had never seen a bottle of the Black Barrel Select Reserve before, so it kinda tripped me out to see a green bottle with small letters for my beloved Jamie Black! Weirdest Mandela Effect experience, I was even running back and forth between my liquor cabinet and computer to figure it out! LMAO!
So the question is, what did they do with the whiskey they used to make the Jimmy Gold from? Is it now the Crested, Croze, Stout, and IPA? Or is it over in the Midleton brand? They also brew Powers, Paddy, Method & Madness, and Redbreast, but would they dare put it in those? Or are they saving it up for Jimmy 21, 24, 30, 40, and so on?
Maybe it wouldn't have been a fair comparison due to the higher abv, but Jameson black barrel proof would have been number 1 if it was on here. Also very suprising how poorly Stout Cask did.
Gold Reserve was great! And of course discontinued. And Crested isn't available in the states. Y'all are killing me. Why don't you just dig up a Jameson 12 to review and add insult to injury? Seriously, though, love the blind tastings.
The 18 yr cask strength and Black Barrel cask let you know that Irish whiskey is actually really REALLY good - they just water it down too much for the majority of everything they sell. And "regular Jameson" is what 16 yr old high schoolers drink - pure trash. Try the Redbreast (yes I know, same distillery) ones next time; the 21 is probably a top 10 of all Whiskey's for me.
I love these blinds! Please do more!!
The next video has to be Jack daniels ranked. Oh and btw i say oprahcot

If you like regular Jameson, I wholeheartedly recommend Black Barrel, it's like if you turned Jameson up to 11
@xander1052 oooohhhh, really? I think I have that already... just haven't opened it yet. Now I gotta lol

You needed the Jameson Orange in there.
It is truly orange…. Bitter Orange.
Their Black Barrel is my standard.

You guys need to take Breanna to Ireland and Scotland and do a tour of blind tastings across the distilleries! It would make a great few episodes 🤘🏻
Pub crawl of Irish cocktails
13:20 that pretty much summarizes the channel's motto. So long you like what you are drinking, there are no rules.
I'm still mad they discontinued the Jameson Gold Reserve. It was easily the best, and at the time it was discontinued ~5 years ago, it was only like $80, which seems like a steal today.
I am team Stout, but that's ok. We love what we love.
Try this with the laphroaig line up

My favorite is the 18 year Bow Street Cask Strength. It is the regular 18 year without the watered down pallet.

Fortunately I do have a bottle of that Gold Reserve and I love it. Very sad that it’s the last one I will have.
So, the $600 bottle you can’t buy is the best.
Good. To. Know.
I feel like one of them just makes up things they taste and then everyone else just agrees to keep the video going.
I used to have gold reserve. Always thought it was similar in ways to Middleton very rare. Or at least the years that I had them to compare

One thing I might try is just assign them points based 1-8 on your ranking. Then just add and reveal the "group" top 8

These are fantastic guys thank you. There are so many releases by distilleries so it's interesting to hear your thoughts on them all.
Black Barrel Jameson is one of the most affordable entry-level irish whiskeys for sure! A great non-offensive crowd pleaser.
