This was the very best video you fine gentleman have ever produced. Really could have been on Discovery,PBS you name it, so looking forward to seeing the rest of your experience in Ireland.
I think what Waterford are doing is absolutely fascinating. I can almost start to feel the excitement brewing from the tribe and the rest of the whisky fabric world. Greatly made video and really shows Waterford in a great light. Bravo guys bravo!
Maybe the most important aspect of this video is from 4:25 to 5:15... This should apply to the mindset of all those that enjoy whiskey,,, that being no two batches are the same, and the differences are intrinsic, and to be embraced...
I've been a part of this community a while, but mostly as a lurker. This video is one of the best one I've seen them do. This video made me so motivated and inspired by how much science, creativity, and money people are willing to put into basically one giant creative science fair project. Even though the video came out 2 days ago I've already watched this video 10 separate times. It makes me really want to commit more into the community and learn so much more about the craft and the industry. Also makes me want to move to Ireland, but that's beside the point. Love this video, can't stress this enough. If y'all boys see this comment you made a nerd... *cough cough* whiskey nerd overjoyed.
Welp. Now I want to go to Ireland. I love the accents, and it was fun to hear Daniel slowly slip into the Irish accent here and there throughout the episode. It's also great to see the good work that Waterford do to truly understand the whisky process and how they ruthlessly examine the grain from each and every farm they use for fermentation. I want a dram of Waterford!
As much work as I know this was, I felt like I was walking along with you, and learning what you were learning. It also makes me want to go back to Ireland so bad I can taste it. Well done, Rex. Great job both of you. Proud to be an MB.
My Dad studied in Ireland at Dublin's Trinity college. I spent a week touring Ireland with him when I was 11 years old (over 40 years ago), but just seeing the green fields and stone walls I feel homesick for Ireland. Falling in love with Ireland and it's people is easy.
First, fantastic video all around. Second, is there anything more attractive than a lady who works in the whiskey business, drives stick, and isn't shy about using strong language?
Almost no one in Ireland is shy about using strong language. You can't visit there and talk with the locals if you're prudish about words, that's for sure.
Honestly the amount of detail in the whiskey making process is overwhelming, but the structure and editing of this episode really broke it down and made it much simpler to follow. Kudos, Rex!
Wow. Amazing video! I grew up on a family farm in Arkansas, and my name is Sullivan, so I know I have ancestors from Ireland. This brought it all home. It's not often that you get to see what you've produced in final form, but this shows it. I've been to the motherland a couple of times, and this makes me want to go back!
I am a relatively new MB that is going thru all of the past videos; I finally got around to this one and can echo the community comments. What a wonderful piece of information and true to the spirit commentary.
Waterford Whiskey just released their first batch of their whiskey. The lads and Ned at the Distillery did a cracking job! Fantastic stuff!!!! Doing Ireland proud with this much attention to detail.
I love seeing updates from Waterford! They are doing some great things with grain and terroir. Did they talk about how last year's drought affected grain production?
This is the best episode you guys have done! Holy shit..... what an amazing distillery with even better values & ambitions. Visiting Waterfords is now on my bucket list
Very informative very warm and open. But that doesn't even describe he feels the episode hits. The community inspires, or is inspired by, the magnificence of the people involved here. The level of access you guys had is beyond anything i would have expected and i am unsure if this is because you are spearheading the tribe or not. It's overwhelming to see how open friendly and generous with knowledge and information these people were and until now i did not realize that Waterford actually sponsored your trip in part bonus magnificence right there. Neil Conway and Ned Gahan were fantastic on camera, opening doors that many of us would dream about and showcasing so much knowledge that i understand why Rex had trouble condensing it (Good job btw, i am scared about the amounts that ended up on the cutting room floor). This was then followed by the trip with Grace O'Reilly adding on to that knowledge hearing from Philly himself, making the whole process from seed to glass even more intricate and complex. And yes i think Grace can be rightfully called The Barley Queen. There is a reason to be proud to be a tribe member and this video is a showcase of that honor, respect knowledge and humor, it was all there.
Well done boys, what an experience. Envious and proud, only the two of you could bring out a comfort level in your host that allowed such a great experience. Cheers!
My brain froze up when he started going through the books in the tasting room. *makes mind blown noise* What an awesome opportunity. You guys are getting a tour that most won't get, and sharing it with the MBs of the world. Cheers Boys.
So, fortuitously, I stumbled across you guys page in the last couple of days, while you're reporting from my home country of Ireland. If you guys hit Cork then you gotta let me know and say hi. I think I've binge watched about 30 of your videos in 2 days, keep up the fabulous work 👍🏼 a new magnificent bastard
Something about a guy with an irish accent makes u never question what he says about whiskey. He could have said we age old gym shoes to give it a extra layer of flavor and you would believe it
visited the Waterford distillery recently with a group of fellow Waterford bartenders, I was very much impressed. Great to see that you guys visited our city, keep a look out for WD whiskeys they are sure to be fantastic
It requires absolute love for a craft to do what these guys did. They went far and wide to make this real! While the work hasn't finished, yet, they are really on the goal!
That was astounding! Interesting, fun, well-paced and I think I learned something in spite of myself. The complexity of the operation at that place is head-spinning, and quite exquisitely beautiful. Loved the farm tour. That color of green is so vivid. Thanks for sharing this guys. That made my day.
Absolutely the best video! I loved every single second, so much knowledge and information going into how whiskey is made. This makes me want to go to Ireland and go through the same tour.
I work for a company that tracks soybeans like they track there grain and this is absolutely a ton of work, that will make them a number one distillery. This is an amazing attention to detail and the art of whiskey making.
Nicely done guys. For the record, in wine making, different portions of the SAME FIELD can have different appellations (i.e. terroir) since soil and exposition could be different at the bottom and top of the hill.
This is Daniel and Rex at their best! The bear is grounded in his approach, while Rex sours above with astute overview....and is not incapable of swooping down and getting his talons around certain gems of wisdom. Can’t wait for the total of this trip’s content!
Hey guys, this is one of the most amazing episodes you've ever come out with. So glad you were able to go to Ireland and experience this. Amazing people and amazing Whiskey. I have become more and more interested in Irish Whiskey beyond Jameson in the last two years, and I am so happy that the Irish Whiskey Renaissance is in full swing. Thanks for bringing this to us. Cheers!
This is one of the best videos of any kind I've ever viewed on UA-cam. Great job guys. All the folks at Waterford Distillery were great. Do you know when will the Waterford Distillery products be available in Central Texas?
From what the STD's said from their visit they are looking at limited releases next year, as in 2020.. where they will be releasing single farm blends between the different casks from the same farm. But unfortunately in very limited numbers and markets.. :-(
One of the very best vids I have seen on this channel -- the education stuff is simply fantastic. That aside, she is a Goddess and one of two women I have ever met that I would marry just to listen to her voice all the time.
Amazing episode fellas. It really felt like a deep dive into culture, travel-type channel ala the late great Anthony Bourdain. Ireland is such a beautiful country making some amazing whiskey.
I think Rex and Daniel have said multiple times that if you want to make money, then setting up a distillery business is not the way to go... yet Waterfords have at least four warehouses, two more coming, with over 7000 casks in each and still no output... how the hell is all that tied up capital afforded??!! Wow. Fantastic video guys! Looking forward to seeing more!
Educational. Entertaining. Awesome job. As a cigar guy also, this relates directly to that industry. 'Same' cigar, same face, different experience. Thanks.
The temptation to want to write A 45 paragraph comment on how great this video was was immense.... I'll Whittle it down to just saying it made me evaluate my life choices because I wish I was a wealthy and influential man so that I could bring this movement and this community to the Forefront of the internet.
I’m hoping to go to Ireland in 2023 with my 70 year old mother and we hope to stop at the distilleries we’ve seen in these videos. I wish I could give the videos a thumbs up for every time I’ve watch them.
Gentle (and I use that term lightly) I thoroughly enjoyed this video, because it shows that making whiskey is a labor of love and passion for everyone involved. A farm to glass and down the hatch experience it was. Job well done.
So, I wondered why, all of a sudden, everyone was going to Waterford distillery. Well...now I know. Excellent showing from them. Also *SPOILER* I'd wager Grace has had her nails done for this!
This is my favorite video that you have put out... unbelievably interesting. This is the kind of Whisky production that I am passionate about. Farm to glass traceability, and transparency. What s fantastic distillery. In depth videos like this are amazing. The thought of visiting the field that my Whisky came from gets me a bit teary eyed.
There may be a bit of a challenge with the accents but at 5:01 did he say "we're looking for a mind f*ck of whiskey"? I played it three times and that is what it sounds like. These guys are smart, they have invited two of the best Whiskey Tuber channels (Scotch Test Dummies and The Vault) to visit their distillery and give two great audiences a view of their production facilities.
Just sitting down to watch guys! Great vid! that Leonard Ashmore distillate was being made on the day we were there! Even show his name plate in our vid! Cheers!
Absolutely. My grandfather was a southern grain and cattle farmer all his life. Good whiskey requires good grain that's grown, stored and processed by someone who knows what they're doing.
I’ve always loved the shenanigans on the Tribe channel but that was by far your best episode! Mind blowing stuff from Waterford. It will be interesting to see how this idea of theirs will have an influence in other distilleries around the world. Thanks for all your hard work Daniel and Rex! Great stuff!!
Fucking beautiful. Everything about Waterford and the most true grain to glass and bringing humanity to glass. So radical yet so logical. Just beautiful.
Absolutely loved this video! It combined all the aspects I love seeing. The agricultural beginnings, how things are made, or done and tasting WHISKEY! On a scale of 1 to 5 I'll give it a 7. 😊😁
Phenomenal episode. Could have easily watched 50+ minutes. Rex we need the directors cut for patreon.
There’s just something correct about a guy with an Irish accent talking about whiskey
All he needs is slightly slurred words and it will be perfect.
Scottish guy is better, see Ralfy whisky reviews.
@@samuelmorse784 lol that is incorrect, nothing better than the irish ;)

This was an amazing exploration with amazing people. You guys nailed it going to Waterford!
I don't know exactly why but this video made me really emotional
Am I the only one who teared up at the sight of those beautiful, rolling green fields?
You just gotta love the Irish.
Such a lovely and welcoming culture.

“Mind fuck” in an Irish accent may be my new favorite thing.
Great video! The happiest moment was Daniel running through fields with his fellow hobbits. Brings a tear to my eye.
As much work as I know this was, I felt like I was walking along with you, and learning what you were learning. It also makes me want to go back to Ireland so bad I can taste it. Well done, Rex. Great job both of you. Proud to be an MB.
i came here to learn about whiskey not fall in love with irish goddess grace

First, fantastic video all around. Second, is there anything more attractive than a lady who works in the whiskey business, drives stick, and isn't shy about using strong language?
As an American where stick shifts have become rarer than the rarest whiskeys, yes a woman that can drive a stick is very sexy.
Almost no one in Ireland is shy about using strong language. You can't visit there and talk with the locals if you're prudish about words, that's for sure.
Basically everywhere in Europe being able to drive stick is the standard.
Driving stick and bad language is a requirement for been Irish

Any chance you two could lure Grace away to join the tribe on a more regular basis? I could watch her more often! Fantastic episode!
I'd gladly watch a feature length documentary about this whole process. Well done gents
I love seeing updates from Waterford! They are doing some great things with grain and terroir.
Did they talk about how last year's drought affected grain production?
The Irish of Newfoundland all came from this part of Ireland ( Waterford, Wexford ,Kilkenny and Tipperary ) and sailed out of Waterford port.
Thanks guys! A deep dive into Waterford and glad to see someone pulled it off so well!
