    The male leads get top billing in this show but the vocal talents of Laura Michelle Kelly, Carolee Carmello and Teal Wicks are astonishing. This show is an absolute audience pleaser.

      GHGillen Though from what I've heard, Matt Morrison holds his own vocally too.

    • @capscoach
      @capscoach 9 років тому +6

      Sara McKinney He definitely does...he does not have the most ppowerful voice (esp. compared to Jeremy Jordan) but he sings really well with this nice velvet like sound that suits the character really nicely.
      But Laura Michelle does not get enough credit...she is super talented

    • @Saranoh2009
      @Saranoh2009 9 років тому +3

      I think his voice is powerful. It's not quite at Jeremy's level, but it's definitely not weak either. JMO of course.

    • @capscoach
      @capscoach 9 років тому +6

      Sara McKinney I agree...his voice is not weak at all...some people wanted the more powerful Jeremy Jordan but I think Matthew took the character in a different direction that really worked. Also, Jeremy Jordan sang the score in a higher key in Cambridge...I don't know if their raised the key for Jeremy or lowered it for Matthew...but it worked for both guys IMO. I think Matthew is a better fit for this role vocally than Jeremy. For a belting role I would definitely want JJ but MM really pulls off the introspective and quiet moments beautifully in the show and has more than enough power for songs like Stronger

    • @Saranoh2009
      @Saranoh2009 9 років тому +4

      Did you see the show in Cambridge too? I've only seen clips and heard audio from both. For me at least, Matt and Jeremy are apples and oranges. Matt has a more traditional Broadway voice and style. Jeremy is a modern " belty" singer, which works well for a lot of current musicals.

I highly recommend the show! It has the perfect amount of comedy and drama. The show is very special and I found myself laughing, smiling, crying and overjoyed!

      that and stronger.
      I heard "Neverland" as sung by the guy but I hate to say it...Jennifer Hudson did it better.
      His version lacked power.

      +tara thelen I know ultra-fans don't want to hear this, but truthfully, compared to some other shows, it was basic and formulaic and about 1/4 of the show seemed ripped out of Mary Poppins. Don't get me wrong, it was professionally formulaic and very well performed, but just not life-changing. It was also clearly designed to entertain kids with a few of the break-up-the-mood songs.
      I saw Fun Home 2 nights before this and there was no comparison on the level. Oddly both shows had 3 kids, who all performed very well too, but none as well as Sydney Lucas, who possibly outperformed Matthew Morrison.

    • @jiphoto2
      @jiphoto2 8 років тому +3

      +tara thelen The movie producer who made the show pissed everyone off as a Broadway producer and they stuck it to him. This is not the first time a show did poorly with either awards or bad reviews and went on to thrive. Les Miz got killed and how do that work out?

      @nondescript2892 9 років тому

      Chris Smart couldn't agree more...seems like every musical and lyrical cliché piled on top of eachother...whatever happened to believable characters ? Did J.M. Barrie do a lot of cartwheels ? They probably would have Henry Higgins do summersaults and sing a cheesy love song these days ....yuck!

    • @therealameliabedelia7821
      @therealameliabedelia7821 9 років тому +4

      Chris Smart Couldn't disagree more. It was one of the most emotional performances I've ever seen.
      Nondescipt- Um, not sure if anyone has told you but Henry Higgins and J.M. Barrie really have nothing in common other than both being British. So I'm not really understanding your snark there. The whole point of the show is keeping the child inside alive even as you grow up- thus the cartwheels.
