Saw this play last Saturday in NYC with Matthew and Kelsey. When this scene came on, all I could think of was "Sideshow Bob as Captain Hook!" It was one of the best musicals I've ever seen in my life!
If you didn't see it in Cambridge just wait till you see it live. Diane Paulis is a genius. It's such a powerful moment and is right up next to (slightly behind) defying gravity.
I saw this when it was in MA and I am crying because I am remembering how beautiful this production is. I now want to see it again when it comes to Broadway.
I saw this live and honestly it is amazing. Every time the pirates stomp you can feel it move all the way up the rows of seats and it is honestly amazing
I just saw this yesterday afternoon, and it was amazing. The production was very good, and it had a very good story!!! Aidan Gemme remember that name because he is going to be a big star, bigger than what is already is. He had me almost in tears towards the end of the play!!!
This gives me really strong Confrontation from Jekyll and Hyde vibes with the way that Hook enters. It's so cool. Kelsey Grammer is incredible in this. He's just having so much fun.
I just saw this play yesterday, honestly the entire cast was outstanding, it was a great play. I only wish I could find a soundtrack or something online so I can listen to these songs more, like "circus of your mind" and "When Your Feet Don't Touch the Ground"
There is a soundtrack coming out soon... With many famous singers... jessie j is singing stronger and Rita ora is singing play... plus the cast also sings some of them.
I love Kelsey Grammer but by far my favourite part of this were the Pirates, namely that one guy in the plaid shirt. He seemed to be really into it? Idk.
everybody saying Jeremy Jordan was better is gonna have to deal with the fact that Matthew was cast as J.M. Barrie for a reason and Jeremy was sort of a fill-in until Matt finished Glee. it's true that Matt maybe does need a little more practise , but he's not used to singing eight shows a week anymore. I believe that Matt will be just as great as Jeremy, if not a little better. but that's just a matter of opinion.
I agree that once he gets into the show 8 days a week and performs for audiences he will definitely improve. Even Jeremy improved over time in this show. But if you have heard Jeremy sing this song (which it is on tumblr) you will see that Matt is struggling a bit with the riffs here, which over time will improve I'm sure (but warning, once you here the stronger riff perfected you will have to readjust to Matts version, which i have become accustomed to it now so its not as strange for me after seeing Jeremy sing it live 7 times. The show is amazing and Matthew will serve well to help it live on.) Kelsey I think will also be more active on stage, this was just for the press.
Doobee Doo i didn't say he was going to be better, but i do believe he was cast because he's a good actor, not because he's a name. because he was on Broadway long before Glee
They are allowed to have an opinion about who they prefer in the role. I have a problem if they start being rude to either actor. Both Matthew and Jeremy are extremely talented in their own ways.
i have not heard jeremy sing many of the songs i wish i had because i know he has a very strong voice but i feel here that mathew is holding back as he doesn't want to over do it before it goes to broadway!
You can find obtained audio recordings on tumblr. search finding neverland. they have the ART cast for a good portion, just keep scrolling. I saw it in Cambridge 7 times, its beautiful and has potential to last up their with Wicked and The Lion King. The last few songs and visuals will break your heart. And Stronger, when you see it live, the visuals and the orchestra just blow your mind.
I have to say that even though this cast won't beat my Cambridge cast, I am pleasantly surprised. Hopefully he can work on singer the word stronger though, if he can get that riff right like Jeremy did, it will make the song so much stronger (pun not intended, okay, maybe it was idc) Can't wait to see them give it their all on stage too, because lets be honest, Kelsey was holding back a little on some parts (compared to Michael McGrath anyways)
I do like Jeremy’s version better, but wow I am actually kinda impressed with Matthew. I was not expecting such a good performance!!! There were some parts that didn’t seem as real on his part , but it’s ok. I also think the ropes on the bench were just getting in the way of the actor’s and even if they weren’t I liked it better without them. I fricking love this show sm anyway lol
100% agree I think Jeremy is the better choice, but Matthew isn’t as bad as I was expecting. He was pretty good but Jeremy’s vocals and acting are just next level they should have never let him go.
I love Jeremy Jordan, but while he sings stronger a lot better, most songs in this musical do (in my opinion) actually fit Matthews voice better. This seems to be the part most people judge the performances by, but stronger is kind of the "odd one out" in this musical.
Unfortunately most people wouldn't go to the Broadway play without recognizable stars like Morrison and Grammar playing two of the leads. Would love it if the songwriter for the play @GaryBarlow did a short stint playing Barrie. His voice is exquisite and much stronger. Maybe it will be like Spamalot where it started off with well known actors but as time went by they got in less well known talented people. Jeremy might get his chance once the show is established.
I'm sure this will be great, but the ART production left these new videos in the dust. Kelsey Grammer should go back and watch video of Michael McGrath. That last note at the end of Stronger in Cambridge left me breathless and in tears. Matthew Morrison cannot bring that power to the song - his voice is beautiful but lacks the strength of Jeremy Jordan's. I do wish they had stuck with Jeremy Jordan.
I am kind of in the same boat. Cambridge was amazing, I saw it 7 times. But remember that this was for the press, I think Kelsey will be more energetic once they play for audiences, and Matthew will improve over time. But yes, Jeremy had a beautiful perfect riff in stronger that Matthew just can't hit yet. But to those that haven't heard Jeremy's version it will suffice. I hope Jeremy will have a chance at the roll after the first cast change.
I agree that Jeremy did a fantastic job and the way he sang Stronger left me absolutely breathless as well! I hope he will get to play the part on Broadway in the future!
reader2012 Jeremy is probably a little better for the song Stronger...but I think most of the songs benefit from Matthew's smooth voice...and I am a HUGE Jeremy Jordan fan
I'm trying to not compare him to jeremy who I saw in Cambridge but that end note was just not impressive...and to close act I it just has to be on point
udelgrl I saw the show and when you consider that he is not Mic'd for this rehearsal it makes sense he is a little drowned out as there is a large ensemble backing him...I go to the theater all the time...Stronger left me with my mouth open...it was incredible
I want Kelsey Grammar to play Captain Hook in a official Peter Pan movie or a play or a revival of the musical he’s to good not to play him he matches hook to a tee and side show bob is just basically Captain Hook if he wasn’t a pirate and had both hands he has his life ruined by a child and he will do anything to kill him but all of his plans failed someone please do Peter Pan but with Simpson Characters please
what the show loses in AMAZING vocals and (in my opinion) better characterization from Jeremy it gains in a ticket selling, pantie dropping, leading man celebrity by the name of Matthew Morrison who will add some much needed kick ass choreo and dancing skill.
Kelsey Grammer was born to play Hook. He is fabulous!
Saw this play last Saturday in NYC with Matthew and Kelsey. When this scene came on, all I could think of was "Sideshow Bob as Captain Hook!" It was one of the best musicals I've ever seen in my life!
Amazing play! Matthew Morrison is awesome! I would love to see it again!
THIS STAGING IS SO GOOD! I love it.
If you didn't see it in Cambridge just wait till you see it live. Diane Paulis is a genius. It's such a powerful moment and is right up next to (slightly behind) defying gravity.

This number in the show was mesmerizing! Fantastic performances all around...wish I could have seen it again
"Pirate? Or pansy?"
"I'M A PIRATE! A PIRATE!"
"...I don't believe you! AHAHA!"
"...ahahaa?"
"What was THAT?"
This part kills me, I love it so much.
I saw this live and honestly it is amazing. Every time the pirates stomp you can feel it move all the way up the rows of seats and it is honestly amazing
Matthew Morrison all the way!
I just saw this yesterday afternoon, and it was amazing. The production was very good, and it had a very good story!!! Aidan Gemme remember that name because he is going to be a big star, bigger than what is already is. He had me almost in tears towards the end of the play!!!
When I go to NY I am going to some shows and this is DEFINATLY one of them. So excited
So, how was it?
Now I am hooked on this musical. I remember watching the movie version and loved it very much. This is just brilliant!
Kelsey grammer is so talented. I love him. ❤❤❤♥️♥️♥️♥️ and Matthew sings so beautifully.
Funny how much the show, the lyrics to live by the hook specifically here, has changed before and during previews and before opening night still
He is beautiful
Who? :P
This gives me really strong Confrontation from Jekyll and Hyde vibes with the way that Hook enters. It's so cool. Kelsey Grammer is incredible in this. He's just having so much fun.

when ypur feet doent touch the ground is on you tibe look for it
I saw it, but I couldn't find the one with Broadway cast, its the one with the European cast. Still great, but slightly different.
aquament the cast recording comes out later this month :)
There is a soundtrack coming out soon... With many famous singers... jessie j is singing stronger and Rita ora is singing play... plus the cast also sings some of them.
That's cool, though I think I'd be happy if it just used the stars in the Cast
I’ve watched this an unhealthy amount of times
I got he stronger song stuck in my head...
i remember seeing this musical on broadway. I loved it!
Can't wait for finding neverland
I love Kelsey Grammer but by far my favourite part of this were the Pirates, namely that one guy in the plaid shirt. He seemed to be really into it? Idk.
At the beginning he is like "oh my god, he stabbed him O_O "
He played the dog before they removed the human actor
Colin Conliffe
Just saw this on the Tony Awards; This is just amazingly well done. So sad they didn't get nominated for anything :(

Adam Efimoff yeah i know but i mean that he's not used to it anymore

Need to see this
AMAZING!
When they start saying "woe is me" is that the reference to the creation of the character Smee?
That’s what I was thinking!!!! It sounds like it but I’m not sure
This looks amazing
I would love to see Jeremy do this with Grammer and with this staging!
Keep up the Good work Guys.
I CAN FINALLY WATCH IT UP CLOSE
i have not heard jeremy sing many of the songs i wish i had because i know he has a very strong voice but i feel here that mathew is holding back as he doesn't want to over do it before it goes to broadway!

reader2012 I so agree. The way staged this, and those ropes out over the audience. It was amazing!!
i watched this on a fiels trip and it was awesome and iwas excited because i love glee
LOVELOVELOVELOVELOVE!!!
FRASIER!!!
I'm back a year later and I actually know who some of these people are now
I have to see this show...
I have to say that even though this cast won't beat my Cambridge cast, I am pleasantly surprised. By casting Morrison in a broadway musical more people will get into broadway genius
lovvvvveeee❤😍
2:04 anyone adores the way he says "cucumber sandwiches"?
1:11 AHHH SIDESHOW BOB!
I must say that I much prefer Jeremy as Barrie over Matthew. Not only do I think he sang it better I also think his acting was a lot more convincing.
100% agree I think Jeremy is the better choice, but Matthew isn’t as bad as I was expecting. He was pretty good but Jeremy’s vocals and acting are just next level they should have never let him go.

WTF! Kelsey just talked and sang as Sideshow Bob!

Boots S. I don't even know these two people. I want to see it because of the music. :3

reader2012 Kim Reichelt Michael is in www.broadway.com/shows/on-twentieth-century/ which got a rave in the NEW YORK TIMES agmonst others
I wish they had a cast recording of the cast when it was at the ART.
What's the song with the clocks and all the doors called again?
Circus of Your Mind, I believe?
I'm trying to not compare him to jeremy who I saw in Cambridge but that end note was just not impressive...and to close act I it just has to be on point

What happens when you live in France, and you really really want to see the musical and you can't leave your countryside ?
Captain Hook was Sideshow Bob 100 years before The Simpsons.
Kelsey Grammer needs to return to the stage and stay there. That seems to be where he has the most success. Maybe work with David Hyde Pierce again!
The GREATEST actor that the world has NEVER known, just typed this sentence. YOUR LOSS SUCKERS!!! MUHAHAHAHAHAHA (short break) MUHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!
Chris Dwan is a national treasure
I miss Jeremy Jordan's J.M. Barrie.
I miss him too but Matthew isn't doing to bad. He will improve over time and hopefully Jeremy can come in when they do the cast change.
+Mattbrain thank you👍😄
+Christianna Moestue I prefer Matthew's actually.
Saw this show on Broadway years ago. Kelsey did not perform, his stand in was good, but wanted to see Kelsey.
I want Kelsey Grammar to play Captain Hook in a official Peter Pan movie or a play or a revival of the musical he’s to good not to play him he matches hook to a tee and side show bob is just basically Captain Hook if he wasn’t a pirate and had both hands he has his life ruined by a child and he will do anything to kill him but all of his plans failed someone please do Peter Pan but with Simpson Characters please

i never knew that J.M Barrie was Scottish, thought he was american
He was Irish I think and he lived in England
after watching this video i googled it and apparently he was born and raised in Scotland but lived in London
Mr Schu you're lookin a little green
This comment aged extremely well omg
2:39 and this is what happened in an airplane seat in 9/11
#HazardPay lol
Jeremy Jordan all the way
Sorry but I just saw the show today and Morrison I feel was better than Jordan
This looks way too schmaltzy.
Cringe cringe cringe!!
