The comment of the lady talking about her memories, and how these people lived happily and friendly, was heartwarming to hear. I am a Sinhalese, and even though I am not very familiar with Jaffna, I remember one of my uncles saying that when he was working in Jaffna before the conflict, Tamil people were very kind to him and honest. He didn't understand why this war began, etc. And when I was watching this video, the feeling that I felt was like one of kinship and belonging. I think what some divisive people don't understand or people like politicians don't want people to understand is that diversity is the beauty; it's what makes us keep going and it is what bonds us together, so we must respect and accept it. Sheneller, thank you for making this video and you are making a precious and positive impact on society. Keep it up.♥
Absolutely,i would not have been able to survive in london without my tamil colleagues and friends.
💯💯💯💯 true. Thank you for your honest points. ❤
The conflict begun when Tamils were denied equal rights in education and various discriminatory policies introduced by then Sinhalese govt resulting in marginalization of Tamil community.
I respect your courtesy.
The ugly truth for your query, why the conflicts developed because the majority of Sri Lankans believed in fake statements of political leaders and yet.
Well said " Diversity is the beauty " Sheneller & Shehan are experts in expressing it. Even today with the outfits 🥰

Thank you very much for showing my hometown Nallur, our Tamil culture so beautifully, speaking some beautiful Tamil words and giving me the opportunity to see my Nallur home.
Om Muruga.
Thank you again for your post so that our Tamil culture can reach our brother (Sinhalese) people and international people very nicely. 🙏🙏🙏
Watching from Kolkata. Tamil Nadu is my favorite state in the country. Love the Tamil culture and the music. This one will be in my bucket list. Nandri!
But this festival held in Sri Lanka 🇱🇰

Bad thing is that they consider themselves only tamil and not Hiindus. They hate Brahman s
@@santoshdeshpande4742some of them do ....last year I was in madurai .I have experienced that ,.....i tried my best to not bring Hindi..but as I was talking on phn to my sister..I had to speak so, some random guy said don't speak in Hindi here .I said ,Im not talking to sir . He said this Tamil country ..Tamil temple ..you cannot talk in that...I said but it's a Shakti temple...he randomly said it ain't hindu..it's only Tamil...I mean I didn't said it ain't Tamil...but idk..it was a really bad experience.
@@santoshdeshpande4742 santosh bhai, they are Tamil Hindus religions wise. Country wise, they are Sri Lankan Tamils. Like here, there are Indian Tamils, similarly there are Singapore Tamils & Malaysian Tamils.
Beautiful to see Sinhalese and Tamils having a great time in Jaffna, for younger generation in the North this is something new and the right direction to go. Make beautiful Jaffna great again.
Well my friend, Tamii never ever hate any race including our Sinhala bros & sis from Neighbouring Sinhala Nation called SriLanka but the Sinhala BUDDHIST FUNDAMENTALIST TERRORISTS run SriLankan barbaric regime Not only carried out GENOCIDE of Tamils and have been occupying our Eelam Tamil Nation with 87% Sinhala terrorists called military with 1000s of spies since 2009 till today even after severe economic crisis to steal Tamil lands, build many unnecessary Buddhist temples in Tamil Nation, suppress Tamils, allow Narcotics to destroy young Tamils, etc.
First CORRECT your Sinhala people to condemn the racist SriLankan regime than indirectly acxusing Tamils .
NO SINHALA TERRORISM NO LTTE.
Indeed ❤
I have been to Jaffna 13 years ago. I really missed Jaffna. Next time i will go to Jaffna. Tamils are very heartwarming people 🩷🌹😘.
They are very welcoming and kind people ♥️🙏🏽
I'm from Kerala and I have been dreaming about visiting Sri Lanka so long to see it's natural beauty, Sinhalese Buddhist traditions and the Tamil Hindu temples and culture. Now the Nallur temple and festival have added another reason to it. Tamil Nadu is the place where you can see the most number of huge temples of cultural, historical significance built by chola, pandya and other notable rulers. I'm very happy to see the thriving Tamil culture in Jaffna and Sri Lanka. This harmonious coexistence of Sinhala and Tamil cultures is the best part of Sri Lanka which will make it one of the beautiful places to visit. Thank you Shenelle for the amazing video on Nallur temple festival. Keep giving us more from beautiful Sri Lanka ❤
Sinhalese are just a invader so they cover with their Religion, so that way Invader never became a tradition or cultural heritage. 😂
Jaffna has a rich culture, and thank you for highlighting the festivities.
Yes indeed!
The banana leaf for eating has to be kept the other way!
Yes, being rich is caste discrimination as well. Do you know the caste system in the Tamil community? Panjamars( Dalits) were not allowed into this very nallur temple for many many years.
@seshadrir2057 so sad😢
But sinhalish also have some caste syste I hate caste systems
I love the colors of India and Sri Lanka. Those are countries with life.
Being a non Hindu and appreciating Hindu traditions is really appreciable! Thanks!!
But your name is Ganesh 😮??
@@hvv001 I am telling about you
My great great great grandfather and five of his friends helped to build the Nallur temple. We had a pooja day during the Nallur festival and I can remember that I went into a special place where the statue is with my father. It was amazing. As we are in Australia now and my father has passed away this pooja has been handed down to me but unfortunately I am not able to attend. That celebration is now done by the priest on behalf of my family. Thanks for showing this festival. Great memories.

A great country. SriLanka should be proud to have diverse & distinct cultures with festivals reflecting the richness of these cultures. I am glad to see young generations appreciating these richness beyond religion, race and language. Politicians should stay away from ruining the unity and mutual respect of cultures.

So nice to see the rich Tamil culture of Jaffna. The video shooting of the Nallur festival is very authentic and a treat to eyes.

Sri Lankan Tamil culture amazes me and I really wanna be part of it. I'm a Sinhalese and all my life I have felt a strong connection to it. I really wanna go to Jaffna to celebrate this with my Tamil brothers. ❤
It's so nice to hear that. Sinhalese also have their own culture which is nice. Cultural diversities but unity makes this country stronger. But actually traditional values of both communities are mostly simar.
And yet lot of others assume we r divided and don't respect SL tamil culture .
@@hellenaoffic2833 That's the way it has been carried out by the Tamil extremists, who are living out of Srilanka in India and other western countries.
@@usharetnaganthan302 yes . We know how much importance we give tamil as a lan: . I mean Sinhala is a very tough lan: itself but we still try to learn Tamil & there culture .
Being a Jaffna brought up, past two years I missed the festival, just by getting busy in Colombo. 😢
Well that's no excuse!
Thanks guys, for bringing the main events with the real colours and liveliness.
When people mix up and start to enjoy and respect each others traditions and culture, no one can keep us apart. Thank you for bridging ethnicities!

Watching this from Chennai, most of the things are so similar to what one can see in small towns in Tamil Nadu during festivals
Sri lankan tamil dont identify with indian tamils. There are south indian tamil in Sri Lanka who came during the british. They are segregated by the native sri lankan tamil whose ancestor are from north and east.

Your video has captured the entirety of the festival that you attended the last important ones out of 25 days of celebration with the divine intents.
I warmly thank you so much 🎉
How beautiful is Sri Lanka when everyone is so united and open to celebrating each others unique differences! Love your videos!

How we all were waiting for that special day....we went to amma temple 🛕 all the time.. for us Buddhist...it was පත්තිනි අමිමා දේවාලය. Tamils called it muththumari amman.... it was it is and will all ways be a place of worship for all of us.
I LOVE SRILANKA and miss my beautiful country and its people... living in canada and now europe for more than 40 years....each and every day i have started to miss my MOTHERS LAND more and more...❤🙏

Thanks for showing a new srilanka, especially northern part

Wow, well covered clip. 👏👍
Jaffna is truly capital of Tamil culture & Saivaism (not hinduism).
Sadly we lost Kathirgamam Murugan temple in the south of Sri Lanka, since 1983 riots.. as Both Nallur & Kathirgamam Murugan temple festivals are the grand and vastly celebrated festivals among all SriLankans. 🙏
This also part of Hinduism. In India Rajastan specially they had a community mainly dirty of Lord Shiva
Thanks for pointing out the significance. By the way if you are referring to Kataragama murugan temple it is still there in Kataragama/ southern part of LK, and also there is a festival in that temple in similar way around July/August. You can search about it as “Kataragama Esela Perahara”.
Saivanism is sadly an overlooked cultural link that both Sinhalese and Tamils can celebrate together. Speaking of unparalleled admiration Sinhalese have for saivanism, the latest blockbuster here in Sri Lanka is based on the life story of murugan in Kataragama.( movie name : Kadira Divyaraja).
Cheers
In India there is no type of saivisam. All are Hinduisum.

This is a really impressive and eye-opening video. I see this is one of the major festivals in Sri Lanka. The important thing is tourism. On the other hand, we see how culturally rich we are. Such a small country we have much deviated cultural spectrum. Why I like your videos, every video you have something special and inspiring. Thank you Sheneller
Did not get time to watch your vedios recently but will find time in weeks to come. I felt the urge to thank you for telling the Sri Lankan story in such a captivating and convincing manner. Your efforts will certainly benifit the tourism industry. You are a true represetation of us. God bless you.
