Wondering why the price are no longer mentioned, it helps tremendously when planning a trip and wanting to eat on a budget. Do these Owners tell Mark not to list any prices? It sucks to have to pause, rewind, and try to see what the food price is if a shot is captured. Maybe by featuring the foods now He doesn't pay for the meals so, doesn't even think of posting it?
Check out the description box, prices are included there. I didn't include them in the video because it was hard for me to figure out what we ate, that was shown in the video (as I bought more food for my wife and son, but not featured in the video). There were definitely some owners who wouldn't take payment, despite me trying to pay. Please check out the description box. Thanks for the feedback, I can try my best to keep adding prices in the video itself. Thanks!
If you are just saying this video I might help .. All of the dishes change mostly between 150-500 tl in turkey . If you eat lhigh quality amb or steak based meal its around 300-500 liras. approx 10-20 euros per plate.Chicken is cheaper((5-10 euros). pastry is even cheaper of course. I recommend stick to the street food and avoid ''fancy'' restaurants because they dont exactly resemble turkish food they more french italian cuisine than us. Fruits are cheaper than Asian countries we buy them in kilos not by one. It's still not so expensive if you won't go to tourist spots and find good quality hidden gems. And if we are talking about turkey, I bet most of the places wont charge Mark for making free ad(for them its not a vlog it is advertisement for free), so they want to give you food for free. even if he wants to pay, Turkish mindset thinks it would be a shame and greedy to charge someone putting you on youtube for free, they mostly wouldn't except your money :)

Been watching so much Turkish series lately and I've always been watching their food. I'm so glad Mark is giving us such an in depth tour of Turkey and their cuisine.
The diversity of Turkish cuisine is truly remarkable, reflecting a rich tapestry of cultural influences. From the traditional Turkic elements like yogurt and ayran to the Mediterranean, Balkan, Middle Eastern, Central Asian, and Eastern European flavors, Turkish food offers an astonishing variety. Each region of Turkey contributes its own unique dishes and cooking styles, from the Ottoman court-inspired flavors of Istanbul to the fish-rich dishes of the Black Sea Region and the famous kebabs of the southeast.
As someone who despises North Eastern cousine of Turkey, I have to admit even that area provides the pide, kuymak with a lot of styles of pide Bafra and all. I do not like Turkish/Greek yoghurt. I like the Scandinavian type. But otherwise Turkish cuisine is amazing. I have not been to Turkey much. Just 3 days in Ankara 15 years ago (where we were taken to a small town in the mountains on the evening that Ramadan ended, to have a feast. And that was something). My experience of Turkish food is limited with Turkish Airlines and hotels in Istanbul where Turkish Airlines have accommodated us. And these experiences alone have taken me ta heaven. I would really like to experience street food and the Turkish fast food.
Turks consider breakfast really important. We have a saying in estonia- "Leave the supper to your enemy, share your dinner/lunch with a friend and keep breakfast for yourself" Turks truly are hospitable. It is a matter of honour for them - being able to provide for the guest, make the guest happy and safe. Guests are considered God's messengers and being hospitable is almost a religious thing for them. The guest in not only served the food he is paying for. The host also goes out of his way to make sure the guest gets home safely, whatever that means. In my case, it meant negotiating taxi prices for me after they saw that I am very bad at that type of negotiations and willing to get robbed really. Later I learned to do that on my own. But they would make up plans for you as to what to visit based on your interests, give you advice about staying in Turkey: in short they will do anything to make sure your entire stay in Turkey will be safe and enjoyable. A man whose client left hungry and payed too much to the taxi driver on the way home, is not a man really. This is my experience. Thats because Lebanese immigrants brought Ottoman/Turkish dishes over to Mexico in the 1800s. But there are also some really basic dishes like tortillas that are shared between both.
I thought the same thing about Turkish pluss Italian cuisine - melt them into one, I would love it. The Italians and the Turks probably would hate the idea though
Yes, you said it all when you said Turkish cuisine is one of the best cuisines in the world. On the other day, I was watching a habitual cooking vlog from Refika, Istanbul, making Tantuni. Fabulous. I have also made a mini döner at home.
Of course it is. Capital of the Roman Empire, then Ottoman Empire. Two of the greatest empires ever. I am talking about the way they evolved Mankind, in terms of science, poetry, architecture, infrastructure, medicine. Empire as a thing is not a good thing but they have certain aspects that are good. And Istanbul used to be at the core of it all. And things like that show, millenniums later and in every aspect of life. For so long Istanbul has been a place where people knew how to live, how to have a good time. Because they had the financial means, they had the melting of so many cultures and people from so many different social groups. So what you get in Istanbul today is there for you to enjoy from long long ago in history
Is pilaf not Ukranian or Russian or sth like that? I was prepared pilaff by a Ukrainian lady once and I fortunately managed to smuggle it to the dog under the table because it was terrible food. So meaty and greasy in a boring way, a very different food than Turkish food. But maybe it was just this one experience. However, Russians and Russified people eat pilaf a lot. It is like hamburgers for Americans, in terms of the amounts eaten per one person.
Hi Mark - I love your videos and very much appreciated your friendliness when we crossed paths while you were filming in the Grand Bazaar eating kokorec. I apologize for my interruption, but I was just so surprised to see you and said "hi" before I realized you might be in the middle of filming.

Hi mark- love your videos. This is a great way to learn about food history & culture. When i was in 7 th grade my social studies teacher would take about 2 weeks & teach us about a certain country. When we were finished w/ that country he would make an authentic meal from that country. He would play music from that country & decorate his classroom w/ flags, posters etc. alot of fun & it got me trying new foods. Keep up the good work.
I was thinking the same thing. usually that kind of thing irritates me. I think "Please decide which do you want to do at any given moment: eat or speak. they are mutually exclusive." Another thing is drinking: taking a zip and making a lot of noise doing it. How do people even do that, or why? Do they draw the drink in the mouth with air somehow. I was taught pour the drink into the mouth, and that makes no sound. He did the same thing here, with noise. Being probably the only person on the whole whose noise while drinking did not bother me, might even have fit the context

That egg and tomato dish looked like heaven. Yum! And I couldn't believe the chef grabbed that bread out of the oven with his bare hands. You can tell he's worked in a kitchen along time.
It is super simple to make as well to be fair. You can search for refika menemen. You will be very suprised how easy it is to make, it is pretty similar to shakshuka. I eat that pretty much every day. Keto friendly option as well.
Turkey is a beautiful country
Mark spreads positive vibes always smiling and being kind to everyone.🌞
True
I'm leaving for Istanbul tomorrow, thank you for this, I will visit all these places!
Have a great trip!

Welcome my country, hope you have nice time
I think Turkey is my best mouth watering food……..Turkey is a special country……bless you Mark and your family🥰🥰
This food immediately makes me want to go to Türkiye just to try all of it! Everything looks sooooooooooooo good!
great video. The places this man goes to are completely local and businesses that local people enjoy going to. It is pleasing that there are no touristic or artificial places.
Turkish food is my next one in the list. Mark we are watching and enjoying all kind of foods that you introduced to us from all over the world 🌎 here from NJ. By the way I love watching you in the videos always with your beautiful family ❤
The fact that we get free videos on UA-cam by Mark is truly a gift; keeping the education and knowledge alive. 👏
I always wonder what people think the advertising on You Tube is for when they exclaim it’s free to watch. Bloggers get paid… some more than others. There are ad free channels, usually they have Patreon as well.
I love manti with yogurt sauce, and it really seems like an art to do this very small "raviolis". Thanks Mark for getting us into the kitchen, where we can see how those small dumplings are prepared.
by far the best cuisine in the world and the best food in the world is available in this country no other country can compete with Turkish cuisine they value hygiene and presentation very much in some countries while in some countries food is cooked in dirty streets I have not come across such a thing in Turkey I better understood why these men did not lose wars in history thanks turkey
Buddy don’t be delusional, Italian food is by far the best… you just know the popular dishes like pasta and pizza
Oh man I'm excited to go there next month...can't wait!
Don't forget the sunscreen.
Great to hear that, you will have an amazing time!
Turkish?
@@MarkWiens hi Mark if you had a chance try Afghan food at Zayton borno Istanbul I bet you will love it
Wow a 1 hour Turkish food crawl! Time to grab my snack! This is awesome Mark!
When you came in 2016, there was a coup attempt, I was unfortunate, you couldn't taste the flavors of Istanbul with enough pleasure. You were with your wife then, now you are with your family. I'm so glad you came again. I hope you travel all over Turkey.☺
I am so glad you exist, Mark. Honestly. You have consistently been enthusiastic, encouraging, respectful, passionate, cheerful, friendly. Your videos make me feel better when work and life and bills feel overwhelming. Even if just vicariously, it reminds me there are fun things to do, see and eat.
Ayyyy, welcome back Mark, you were the first Food Tubers I started to watch.

Same for me, I was a "UA-cam Virgin :-)" before I started to watch Marks channel
A Turkish-Mexican Restaurant would be amazing. The food style is so similar but so different it’s amazing.
Love your videos Mr. Wiens. Turkey 🇹🇷 ✋🏽 down got some of the best food in the world!! Love döner, kaymak, so many. Istanbul is a world class city!!
Yes definitely, thank you!

Great video as always mark! Turkey is the only foreign country i have visited and it did not disappoint and of course the food is incredible 😁

@@achmad3105Because your country is very dirty. Don't you understand this?
I love learning how every culture has learned to feed and fill up themselves based on what's available, in their land. And, the fact that so many different cultures have had the same ideas, worlds apart, is inspiring! You going out there to show it to us is FASCINATING!! THANK you!! ❤
Istanbul is a beautiful Baytown kinda reminds me of my hometown with all the diversity & cultures intertwined. The first few dishes look perfect for a social gathering or a quick nibble but I'm like you Mark I don't indulge in sweets really. The vibes are very neutral & the food is definitely not dissatisfying. The eggplant & fish cuisines looks amazing omgoodness Turkey has alot to offer for sure. The ferry ride from Asia to Europe is a phenomenal feature to utilize for business, tourism, & entertainment. I love eggs with cheese so the restaurant you revisit from 2016 caught my hunger lol. Excellent tour overall!! Love what this town has to offer in whole. Thanks again Mark for your constant journey we are so lucky to be apart of... & as always safe travels & blessings for you and your family!! Cheers my friend!! 🥘🍳🥖🍮🍻
Mark you are the food legend of our time! You are a truly amazing and respectful individual. You remain humble despite your fame and fortune.
how grown up Mica already is. From being carried around to now walking side by side with Mark. 😍 been dreaming of visiting Turkiye as well. hopefully soon! 🙏🏽
Mica is probably glued to smartphone / tablet since his parents are while shooting videos
The country looks amazing and the food looks delicious. Right into my list to go ! Wonderful vid as always!!
Thank you very much!
Mr mark always happy to see food and enjoy masah Allah your son is grow up I hope he loves food as you do
OMG OMG OMG that first place Kaymak, I went there twice in my first trip, and have been back ever since. That shop is the reason why I go to instanbul and the owner is so passionate, i have three videos of him on my youtube channel.

A big thank you for reliving the nostalgic memories of the various eatries in Istanbul ! one of the best in the world !
I totally appreciate how well Mark talks with food in his mouth.
My dear friend mark , always love your content , thank you for making this possible , you're always loved and respected 👌🏻 glad you enjoyed 🇹🇷
Mark I’m a Turkish Chef currently living in Florida USA. Iv been watching your videos for a long time and learned lots of things from your videos. Thank you so much for showing our culture by going local places and sharing your experiences and be generous to our community! Best food channel on UA-cam no doubt!

Fantastic compilation of Turkish foods mark, everything looks so awesome. What a wonderful experience to be able to travel the world and eat full time 😍
As soon as you get to Turkey the food becomes the best in the world onwards into Persian food simply the best nothing comes close great content.
I'm soooo glad you went back to Istanbul, last time I felt you didn't get to experience the real wonderful foods of this beautiful country
I’m happy you’re in Istanbul again. Your videos here are my favorites!
Lades Menemen , Huseyin Kofte , Sehzade Cag Kebab, Zubeyir Ocakbasi were our favourites.. some of them we found after watching your earlier videos
There are more than this. Next time ask a local like me :)
Mark well done ✅, this an excellent video, Turkish people are always happy and have good hospitality ❤

Thank you for such a nice video about must-try food in Istanbul 👍
You are very lucky that there is a guide for food and culture who speaks excellent english around you :) Many people do not really understand the details and the meanings of foods but you have a great opportunity to do so.
Turkey is definitely in my bucket list 😋
Uğur was my food walking tour guide last year in september. So good to see you here Uğur :)
Everytime i watch i run to the kitchen to make some sandwiches, pizza, shoarma, fried chicken etc.. getting hungry of it... love the vids btw. Instanbul is awesome
Oh man you’re killing it !!!! The way he savors each bite is truly mesmerizing. His facial expressions while eating are the best I’ve ever seen .. you can almost taste the food through the screen. The passion and love he has for food are evident in every spoonful he puts in his mouth 😂 This love makes him one of the best, if not the best , gourmets I’ve had so much pleasure of watching.
GOD BLESS TURKEY!
Many years ago we relied on food channels and documentaries to see what the world eats. Thanks to people like Mark who showed us the actual food and cultures of many nations, my eyes opened up through UA-cam and with these kind of videos. Thank you Mark, God bless you! ❤
Amazing you had kaymak and sucuk in my one and only childhood time !!!!! Just around the corner is the German private school and I remember going to this place in the morning to skip classes ( 15-17 years ago ) still looks the same ! I’m so flattered and happy to see ❤❤
Were you born in Türkiye and went to a German school there?
"Oh wow" "it melts in your mouth" "so buttery" "so creamy". All the things I wanna hear when I cook. 🥰
I've had a lot of good food here and there in the world. But Turkish cuisine is incredibly extensive. From sucuk to Baklava. Each region has its own specialties. There is nothing better than Turkish food. I'm not saying this because I'm Turkish, but after everything I've tasted so far, I couldn't find anything better than Turkish food!
The Emek Börek section was very nice. The employees are very friendly and good people. The pastries look incredibly beautiful too :)
Was planning a trip to Asia and flight had a long layover in Istanbul(20+ hrs), this type of food tour seems a great way to experience the city.
Dear Mark, you should definitely go to Adana and Gaziantep. You will find the real tastes of Turkey there

manti, is the turkish version of chinese dumplings. the word is from the chinese mantou, though those are steamed buns today, mandu in korean and manju in japan and a lot of variations in central asia
Yeah but it's originally Chinese
