🇸🇾 Street Food in Damascus: • First Time in Syria!! ...
ALEPPO, SYRIA - It’s been said that Aleppo is one of the original food capitals of the world - people came from all over to learn about new recipes and ingredients that passed through this ancient city. Today we’re going on an ultimate Syrian food tour in Aleppo!
► Thank you to Rami from Syrian Guides: syrianguides.com/
Aleppo Bab Al Ahmar - Located on the outside of Aleppo Citadel you’ll find this traditional Syrian restaurant that specializes in breakfast dishes. Rami and I had a breakfast feast to begin our day with some of the Levantine food classics like hummus and foul, and a special dish called Maamounieh. Total price - 250,000 SYP ($16.66) for everything
After breakfast we continued to visit the Aleppo Citadel and Al-Madina Souq. Although so much was destroyed, it’s amazing to see that Aleppo is coming back to life, and people are rebuilding. Within the winding alleys of the market we tried a simple falafel, which was fantastic, but just a start to the next falafel we’d be trying later in the afternoon. We also visited an 800 year old soup factory at Jebeili Soap Factory and ate local Aleppo Syrian kebabs at Abu Dibo Kebab.
Cordoba Restaurant (maps.app.goo.g...) - One of the greatest restaurants in Aleppo, Syria is Cordoba, famous for their Aleppo cuisine, and especially for serving of the best versions of Kebab karaz - Aleppo sour cherry kebab. Total price - 470,000 SYP ($31.33) for everything
Amo Hamido Falafel (maps.app.goo.g...) - Next up we went to what is probably the most famous and popular Syrian street food spot in Aleppo, known for their giant falafel sandwiches! Price - 15,000 SYP ($1) per sandwich
Sujuk Sandwich (maps.app.goo.g...) - We continued on this Syrian street food tour in Aleppo to eat an Armenian sujuk sandwich, which was extremely tasty. Price - 17,000 SYP ($1.13) per sandwich
Abu Hagob Restaurant - Finally we had a dinner at a legendary Armenian Syrian restaurant where they made a meal of many small plates to eat with arak. The kibbeh nayyeh, raw minced lamb and bulgur, was especially delicious. Total price - 250,000 SYP ($16.66) for everything
Aleppo, Syria is and always has been a food capital of the world!

What touched me deeply is that the last falafel shop has this sign, which says „please, if you are in need your order is already paid“ which means that people who can’t afford to buy something to eat they can eat here for free.
May god bless the restaurant owner for his kindness ❤❤

Forget the food, the restaurants, the stalls - Mark is performing an incredibly human act - restoring dignity to the Syrian people. This is how you begin paving the way towards peace and prosperity. Well done Mark. 🙌
I thought exactly the same. Thanks for your comment Pawel!
I really liked it too
Yeah but people also need to return home. Not running out of their country
I m sure that Marc had been paid by a PR firm for reputation laundering. If not, why his first scene is under the propadanda photo of Bashar al-Assad? He clearly could avoid this "plan", but his intention to put the dictator ahead is clear. He could go there by avoiding ANY reference to politics, but I m aacusing him and you _because of your wierd comment - of being part of this malicious campaign
i want to eat
I cried a lot watching this, u literally took us 13 years back where we gather with our beloved people that we already lost😭. Food blogging takes a meaningful shape when every bite carries a memorable moments.

my country 🇸🇾 thank you mark for doing videos in my country , Syrian people they are the salt of this earth.
Thank you for this!🙏🙏🙏🙏 The Syrian cuisine is one of the best and oldest cuisines! I love your integrity and enthusiasm! You are doing a much better job than many other Arab "chefs" who are stealing our recipes and pretending it is theirs without acknowledging Syria and the Syrian cuisine!
Don’t forget the Turks too, they appropriated all Syrian cuisine. It’s really sad…
Oh, man! I can barely imagine what these people might have gone through during a decade or so of war and subsequent devastating earthquake...it is beyond comprehension. I see how these people are eager to communicate with the outside world. It was a severe crime to tear down that castle citadel and 800 years old zuk(bazar). I was thinking how many people have been died on those streets😢
It takes a fraction of a second to tear down an entire town, while it won't be enough even a lifetime to rebuild😢
I could sense his stupor, oh, man, Syria has been at a crossroads for over 5,000 years. One of the crossroads of the world's first civilization.
These people deserve all my admiration, empathy and sincere encouragement.
genuinely my most favourite food guide Mark's had in all of his episodes, the only guide too that is matching Mark's enthusiasm and appreciation for food, sometimes even surpassing Mark, from such an authentic place too. Such a breath of air to watch these two humans.

When do you plan to take back your citizens from Turkey?
@@tinabioWhy are you racist ?? Is it fun for you?
@@Amir-gu4gz I am not racist. 15 million people came here because there was a war, but now there is no war in Syria, so why aren't they going back to their countries? They have been in our country for years, and our economy can no longer bear it, and their numbers keep increasing. In some cities, we have become a minority.
@@tinabioBut its as simple as you think, Assad government did not fall down and its the biggest reason why syrians are not going back, every syrian that fled to turkey is marked by Assad government as soon as they put step there they will get arrested to nowhere and I'm not joking to you about that, Assad normally has lost the war if Russia didn't help him and every Syrian would have went back Voluntarily. The economy there is fucked up, Syrian pound used to be 60 SYP for 1 USD and now its 15000 SYP for 1 USD. The maximum salary is around 100-150 dollars per month!! Of course there is many reasons, me as Syrian living in Germany, I would agree to you there is alot of bad Syrians who did not respect your country as gusts but not all of us like this, many want to work and build their own businesses. The Turkish economic is down not only because of the Syrians but the whole conflicts that happning around the world, the wars. The only thing I want you to understand that not everyone is the same and if Assad wasn't rule the country, 95% of Syrians would definitely go back, but if you know you are going to die, you won't kill yourself, will you?
Syrian food looks so delicious! Thank you Mark for sharing Syrian food and culture with us! I learn so much from you. I also respect emmensely the respect YOU show all the people you meet throughout the world. My heart goes out to the Syrian people.
