I know there have been millions of "how to release music" videos out there that walk you through either the entire process of how to put out music to streaming services. Instead, in this video I thought I would instead highlight the different "TYPES" of distribution services that exist, what features come with the, and the advantages and disadvantages of each so that you as artists can get a better idea of which service(s) you should be considering when you're ready to release a project. Some offer creative tools for the music production process, some offer promotional ones, others with publishing for your music, and of course ones that are completely free to use. Here are my top 4 types of music distribution. Which is right for you?

Thank you for this video. I am new at all this and your vid is educating me BIG TIME!
You're really good at what you're doing, thanks because it is really hard to find that good of a quality content
Bro, your content format is dope 🔥
Thanks for this bro❤
best ones are the smaller distributors as they care about you. I mainly used revelator distributors like laydistribution or viable
Good info thanks!
Thank you so much. This gave me direction 🙏🏽
You’re most welcome
Thank you I’ll be building on koji!!

Thanks for helping other artists cross this door 😂 informative and encouraging 👍🏿🌻
No problem at all
Nice music video distribution Koji
Thank you this fr fr
This is helping sir thanks.
Can I use Landr to distribute my music then use Tunecore for publishing?
i used soundcloud repost for a year now which was always a great distributor. theyre support was a bit whack but it was easy to use. ive just found out that all my music was taken down including songs ive uploaded for other artists. idk if it was because of a specific song or anything or maybe because ive used some youtube beats which i didnt buy the lease for. i know thats not right on my side but hey i‘m an 18 year old artist that still goes to school and not anyone can afford 30$ or more for a beat, and i wasnt making that much profit of it anyways. that shit really makes me think about quitting music cus theres quite literally nothing i can do. the same problems will occur on other distributors and i dont know if i could upload the songs or if i even still got them all. lets pray for me because i really dont wanna quit making music but that shit just demotivates me.
Don't quit, research and find odd jobs for your money.
Don't quit bro I'm in the Feds and they just did the same thing to me and banned me from using distrokid so now I'm tryna figure out which distribution site I'm finna use now and ts suck but it's happened to be biggest artist so just keep pushing the same way you been pushing when you get enough money to buy the best just hit them up and try to pay them 💯 don't quit bro you gone be straight just comeback harder - 7400Des
Please don't quit, there's always a way.
That was the best!
Good video bro thank you
Thanks grateful information
Yerp Tune cores the move, I'm sold lol
Excellent video. Thank you. I tried your koji link but it was not secure. The SSL certificate has expired.
top of da morning SiR, had a question about sampling, how much of a sample could you use without having to worrying bout legal action, is it base on second or minutes to determine its to long of a sample to use? if you could plz answer thankz BiG-_-FeRD
I would say try Tune Vortex once
Easy to watch
Thank for this. I didn’t know tune core did publishing. I have been breaking my head looking for something like them
I'm dropping a new vid like this soon, there's another option that doesn't charge annually to keep your releases up and they also have publishing. (CD Baby). Very nice pricing structure.
Maybe song trust? It’s a 100$ one time fee
@@streetbanditz5929I’m with Songtrust as my publishing admin and their customer service is trash. Still waiting months for a response to an email about an issue. This isn’t a solo occurrence. If you need an answer in less than a couple of months avoid them! Also two years of a song they supposedly registered to ASCAP still not showing and no response. Crickets! By the time they respond you forget what the heck the issue was. Terrible customer service is an understatement.
Very informative 🔥🔥🔥
🙏🏾 even I got some insight making this lol
Hay man I gotta question if I leave a distribution and sign with a different one would my accounts still be the same or still have my account
What accounts idk what ur talking about
Amuse #1
Be careful with United Masters and their 'right of first refusal' in their Terms and Conditions.
Yea that’s why you read the terms on any of these.
What is that
@@dufdutdallas8687 Basically, if you get offered a record deal with a major label, United Masters have the right to hold you back from the offer.. they would have to offer you a deal themselves and it won't be as good as the major label deal. On top of that, they can put a 'release from contract' fee on whatever label is interested in you, which could actually put the label off from offering you that deal.
Essentially, they can make it hard for you to get snapped up by a major label .
@@MattRichardsEsq appreciate the knowledge
Is distro kid the same way ?
You’re a clean ❤❤❤❤guy
i-need-a-distribution
Amuse is good, track is out in 1 month. Everything worked...but there was a problem to verify my phone number and I couldn't get paid, kinda bad
Any updates on this?
Hey do you know any distributor that you have infinite primary artists with
I don’t know of any
how about vydia company ?????
How's landr experience?I checked other review and some people complain about the delay release date for month, is it true? Thx!!!!
That’s never been true for me. If you follow the directions on their website, your release will go out in time. I literally always upload my stuff last minute and it’s always up when I need it to be. Never had to wait longer than a week. I love LANDR. And I don’t say that just because they’ve sponsored a few of my videos. I genuinely love the company.
@@IAMLXGEND thank you so much! I do make a lot of research about all distributions even use Trustpliot 🤣 that make more confusing! But thx for you feedback I’m considering try Landr . Distrokid never give a feedback. Thank you so much again!
what do you think about onerpm?
Never used em
I have released 2 instrumental albums through onerpm, those two didnt have any major hiccups, just mistakes on my end. However recently, I sent them my newest album, got denied and they linked to a page that had 12+ reasons as to why it could've been denied. None of the reasons clearly match up to why it was denied, So I send them a support ticket asking for the specific reasons the album was denied and they gave me an even longer list of potential reasons????? The most definitive thing said was "upload higher quality music" which Is confusing because this is objectively my most high quality release to date. The mixing/mastering on the other two albums they distributed for me were dogwater and still got accepted, but somehow this one isn't of quality...
TLDR. They don't seem to have good user support from my experience. If you have any problems you will have to play guessing games to figure it out. I otherwise like it, but I have not used other distributors so I have no comparisons.
Distrokid seems to be dope
So distrokid is the way to go right ? Better than anything else
Does Distrokid remove the songs from different platforms, say if we don't subscribe for the next year ??
I would say try Tune Vortex once
@@killflynn2010 landr ?
i stopped paying for distro for 2 years now, the music still on getting streams .
So what distro do u use now ?
@@mayowamobolade2355 I got music on distro, but I have not payed the membership for more than 2 year .. I just withdraw my earnings a few days ago.. but I will start paying for the membership next month, going to release more music with them . They actually good.
U mean distrokid right? So u mean even after u stopped paying for two years thet never took down ur music?
@@mayowamobolade2355 right. They have never took them down. And still earning money.. they keep sending me emails about fail to pay and so.. but the music still on..
Did you select “leave a legacy” when you distributed?
What do you think about Level Music? i kinda wanna try it out
I Have no idea who or what that is
@@IAMLXGEND Its nother distribution service, apparently they work with or its made by warner music group, i just wanted to try and find someone who has maybe used it before
Ive been using them for a couple years, no real complaints
@@bsilentmusic Would you recommend them?
Does Koji accomodate artists outside the US?
Koji doesn’t exist anymore unfortunately. The company got sold to linktree
Can you use 2 music distribution company at the same time.
That’s what I’m tryna see
Yes
can i use two distributors or more? and still have the same spotify page artist etc?
There's a certain way to switch over but you have to look up how to do it
yes you can you can upload every other song to other distributors if you want, all on same artist page
😊
nice vid, thank u for landr
hey~Do you ues Landr?
@@superamimo4653 yes, solid experience so far, only thing left is to see if they will pay my roylaties
What’s the best platform in your opinion
Mahla Sangeet Distribution
Is the best, 😱
free unlimited releases, approval time 1 hour 😍
What do you think about CD baby ?
There is no “best music distribution company” necessarily because each company has unique features that may be super important to some artists and not at all to others.
Every artist’s situation is different. Some musicians said about CD B :
"BEST: Open to all
Distributes to China
Distributes to TikTok
Reports are clear and intelligible
WORST:
Takes commission
Some upfront fees
Some hidden fees
No payment splitting
No lyrics distribution
No (producer) credits distribution" .. I am looking for good distributor tooo. :) so, if you found something ok please share with us ;)
@@aagora I’m actually using ditto and it’s quite good for original songs and covers. I tried cd baby for one release and it’s not bad. I want to find one with an upfront fee instead of every year so that’s why I’m considering switching to cd baby and they also have lots of deals with other brands too which is great!
Either one majority of artists will just have music sitting there without listeners. I call these companies warehouse companies. Might as well keep your songs on your computer
you’re essentially telling people to never put out the music they make. If people have no listeners that’s the fault of the musicians for not marketing themselves or finding a fanbase. Hell, this goes for any art form. Painters. Cinematographers. Photographers. They should make art and keep it locked away somewhere to never see the light of day?
I disagree.
@@IAMLXGEND no your right it just feels frustrating when you create something and nobody cares. Meanwhile if a big label backs you all they have to do is make one phone call and your music is everywhere on all blogs, playlists front page radio etc. it's just sucks doing it on your own. I would rather bribe an A&R person $100k to manage me

How is Ditto music
Another option. My experience with them has been good.
I wanted to upload a song in ALL UPPERCASE but they put it in Lower Case, also can't upload collabs until payed more
Just don't use route note, for a indie artist , symphonic or label engine, Emubands.. TOP 3
Huh??? Dont use what???? What about MAGROOVE??
@@honeynicolereign5804 Never heard of that distribution service.. but to be honest big labels have the best tools and resources..
im going with landr
How is Lando going ..I'm thinking about it
@@GaryGaryMusic I have landr bundle Studio best thing I love is that you keep 100% from Content ID and Streaming Platforms and your music stays up forever if u don’t pay they just take 15% and what’s cool they built in future where they help you fill out your tax information with before you get paid they use Tipalti to do ur tax information so you don’t gotta do all the work all u gotta do is fill in ur information then they do the rest super cool 🔥🔥🔥
@@GaryGaryMusic i would say go with them they cost more but they way better then rest all the others take % don’t keep ur music up forever and plus if ur beat maker or engineer the stuff they have to mix n master ur song is pretty helpful 🔥🔥

Just wanna say I don't believe non of them care about you personally they care about the bottom line cash generated yes there happy to have a customer/user but that's really all it is.
The smaller ones are lowkey forced to care about you like Vibeable
@iAM1inaKRILLION I appreciate the info will have a look 👌
Amuse does not do anything, in fact they away your songs and redirect your earnings to their artists
Mahla Sangeet Distribution

united masters is the biggest scam music distro ever to exist
Amuse today removed the ability to publish for free

not surprised tbh, their free version was almost useless since an update back in late 2020 or early 2021 😂 they only improved their paid plans, which seem decent but who knows
Amuse is bad
none. build your own platform
Great advice with lots of reasons why.
@@IAMLXGEND the sarcasm tho! ps. some people dont seek advice. they just wanna hear Their own stuff out of other peoples mouths (or channels). these people are called followers, not leaders. who is leading the Deaf? if you are a Innovator, then innovate. thats Why, young man.
I know why, I already have one. you’re not talking to me lol.
@@IAMLXGEND i like your stuff. the existing Platforms out there are Not working. keep your eyes open for new web3 music playback systems. crazy good. its all about immersion. bless
On the real though, ya comment was obviously not informative. Building ya own platform from the ground up? Like real deal Wordpress ya own webpage and etc? Bc how would you upload directly to Spotify or Apple Music without a “aggregator” / middle man? Obviously some are Better than others but I ain’t seen a direct upload since Spotify stopped it a few years ago
TuneCore is worst they don't even release songs
