This woman is so fortunate to have her family. I got MD at 50 yo with no children nir spouse. I've had 7 eye surgeries and am grateful to have any vision at all. Losing that independance is a challenge and I have had to learn how to ask for help. Appreciate her sharing her story. 😊
losing your ability to drive is very frustrating and to have to depend on others sucks. I had to surrender my driver's permit when my neurologist determined my hydrocephalous made me too much of a risk when driving.
I have macular degeneration in both eyes but get injections from a good Retinal Doctor regularly. I am 83 years old, live alone and I drive everywhere except at night., we don't go blind if under the care of a good Retinal Specialist..I don't wear glasses except for reading & on the computer. This lady & others need proper care so they don't end up blind!
That is wonderful! We are so glad to hear your treatments are working so well. For others, there may be other factors that affect how well they respond to treatment. It is a complex disease!
The device Mary is using is a CCTV. They are very useful, but also costly. You may want to access low vision services in your area so they can best assess what tools would be best for your needs and your budget. Here is a good article about CCTV's www.afb.org/aw/6/5/14585 . Also, use Google (Google Maps if you're familiar) to find services for low vision and the blind in your local area. There are usually associations for the blind, as well as low vision occupational therapists in every state.

The worse part for me would be my inability to read. I love reading everything. Bless these people.

I am 41, headed down this path, already given up 95% of driving. But this is super inspiring ❤
Don't give up. God's mercy definitely can help you to restore your vision.

Wow, the cherry blossom painting.... love it! Thanks, this gives me hope.
It is an inspiring story for me as I watch Mary deal heroically with AMD, which I have too.
We love to hear that.
