@CabinFeverLures1 there are also bearings located under the star drag but again it was just to show how to replace spool bearing and the different types of spool bearings
You also didn't mention anything about cleaning and lubing the bearing. Boca Orange seals come dry. They should be flushed and lubed before being installed. You should trying running a pair of Orange Seals open. You gotta clean them more often, but it improves performance. Also, thank you for holding the reel to the camera long enough for it to focus. I hate it when people go, "you can see this here," then taking the object away before the camera focuses on it.
@castawayXL Yea lighter fluid sounds like an awful idea, prob just stick with lub. The reel is brand new never b4 used. I got it for christmas so wouldn't have any grass or dried mat in it
got my first bass today, on a spro rattle trap, retention pond, yo yo style reallllllly slow, hit it on the drop, he didn't even fight he was so cold, only about a 10" bass, nothing huge, also had some crappie flashing on the same lure, cant wait until the middle of this week, i heard it can get up too 60 degrees.
Not a bad video, but a couple corrections. Most, if not all, decent casting reels have two spool bearings. Both magnetic and centrifugal brake reels have a bearing in the side plate. Mag reels like Daiwas (the best! =D) have the other spool bearing on the spool shaft while reels like the Shimano Curado have their other spool bearing inside the frame.
I was supposed to get these for my Revo STX but i got robbed from someone in a forum. But i am getting a set for my Revo and my Viento for sure.. Just havent had time to order them
lol, orange seal bocas are $50 bro. i found a place that does full ceramic bearings for $100, bocas are hybrid like most reel bearings (steel inner and outer race with ceramic balls).
Awesome video. I just got my Curado 201e7 from USA today (I live in Sweden) and I really wanna try to change by bearings the way you did. Would be so kind if you could mayby give me a private message and guide me what size of the bearings I should buy etc. Saw eBay had some but was lots of different sizes etc. Thanks
Help me out here.. So, after installing the ABEC 7, do you need to oil it? Or, can you run it dry out of the bag? I fear that running dry might damage it.. or will it not? Thanks!
I've read some some forum that the ABEC 7 is an overkill. While casting a lure, the spin of the spool doesn't even go as fast as how much the ABEC 7 can handle, so they mention to go with the ABEC 5. Do you see any differences in distance between the stock and ABEC 7? Have you tried the ABEC 5 also?
Can someone explain why you really need these ceramic bearings in a freshwater reel. You have to put on the mechanical brake in order to cast without backlash right? So, it seems that you put in smoother bearings, now you will just have to increase your mechanical brake pressure or centrifugal cast control to get good casts. Seems like a big waste of time and effort. Seems like a marketing scam. How about a before and after casting distance test.
@j0j0barz33 i have a curado, maybe i should buy some of these, would you wait until maybe the shimano bearing wear out a little because aren't shimano bearings pretty high quality
umm can you pm me how to order them? cuz i think i found them but it says a kit, and it comes with like 2 different types and its $50, would be greatly appreciated
@j0j0barz33 I can see wanting to keep the vid short. I think people need to know that to make that much of a difference casting, both spool bearings need to be changed, thats why they're sold w/ one for the spool shaft, and one for the side plate. Also, you should check out my fishing forum. It's fairly new and we're still trying to recruit members. We've got a chat room and full forum. I'd like it if you'd post your some info or some of your vids there. basschat.yuku.com
so the bearing help your free spool time and smoothness and probably casting right? it doesnt like change the gear ratio right? cuz man id love to get a little edge on performance with these lol
@Jplicit Yes, it won't necessarily damage it but it relieves a lot of friction and brings out the performance in the bearings.

@CabinFeverLures1 true, but I wanted to keep the rod short and sweet. Thanks for watching and good fishing
Ive always been intrigued by the inner parts of a reel that make it work. Its really cool stuff. Cool demonstration!

@LittleRedCyclingHood you don't need to unscrew anything

does it make that big of a difference?
What about the bearing on the reel handle side?
I was supposed to get these for my Revo STX but i got robbed from someone in a forum. But i am getting a set for my Revo and my Viento for sure.. Just havent had time to order them

Damn, that intro though
Do you know what size or number bearings for a shimano citica svd100
Hey do u know if it will work for wright & McGill reels? ........ I think it will

@j0j0barz33 yeah. are these pretty much one size fits all?
@bassmaster21001100 He said he got some from the revenue of the videos he posts (advertising rev, plus alot of people see these vids)
