THE REEL TEST why not see if the bushings from the bass rise will fit in the z. If they do, repeat this test but after casting the z with the 13 bushings, swap it out with the bass rises bushings and do it again without changing the brakes or spool tension. This way you eliminate every variable because you’re using the same spool, line, rod, reel, brakes, and weight. If you can try to do it indoors with no wind. I personally don’t like 13 but curiosity got the best of me and it would be best to see the results if there is no variables other than the bushings
I’m a Shimano guy but the idea that the Z isn’t far, far superior to this $50 reel is laughable. Setting aside the fact that tightening the spool tension to be equal literally, by the laws of physics, guarantees the result you see in the video, it’s only one of a dozen things that makes a good reel.
I believe your theory about the bushings may be correct. During the excessive RPMs achieved in the longer casts, the spool shafts are moving with more force in the bushings that if you were casting a normal lure. I could hear both reels but the Concept Z was exceptionally loud.
@@THEREELTEST Thank you! Ball bearings get too beaten up in the surf, the rest of the internals are holding up pretty well with some extra grease but hopefully this can eliminate a few variables.
just heard a live facebook feed of a well known reel repair/supertuned guy who suggested if you disengage your spool tension knob and turn on all or most of your internal brakes you will get more distance with hardly any birds nest.
who would this person be? Ive measured both ways, loose spool tension/high brake, tighter tension/less brake. Some lures cast better one way, some the other way. I use a loose spool tension in my field tests for most of the reels because if I equalize that factor its saves me alot of setup time and pre measure casts.
Hey, just wondering if you are ever planning on testing any of the 13 reels like the concept c and e. I have a wide variety of reels ranging from daiwa, shimano, lews, 13 and abu. Among the 13 reels the e and c are my favorites and perform well for me, not saying they are better than any of the other brands but I will say I have been disappointed by the z but 13's other reels have impressed me maybe a 13 vs 13 video?
The shaft sliding and scratching the bushing on every cast and badly on retrieve. Definitenely the bushing hole will getting bigger and bigger and tolorance getting worse overtime. And louder sound too. Saltwater friendly but quickly killed by spinning shaft. I suggest to oil the bushing everytime before your fishing trips. Or swap with hedgehog bearing.
czb = a lot less maintenance, especially in salt conditions. some lathe operator could easily replace it by making and polishing bushings out of ABS plastics. no surprise, no spaceship materials and technology developed many and many years ago / brass bushings/
try put bearing in concept z vs the bushing in concept z. see cast distance. and also to check if the noise from bushing or from centrifugal. then do another test with bushing in shimano daiwa abu reel.
THE REEL TEST do u think its still noisy with bearings? so cld it be the noise from centrifugal not the bushing. though nvr recommended but probably can put oil on bushing what u think?
You can swap spool and side plate on Bass Rise with Caius and Salty One. I swapped my Caius with Salty One spool and side plate so it has centrifugal brake now lol
You said on one of your first tests of the Z that if the spool was 34mm it would cast a lot further. Have you considered putting those bushings into a different concept to see how well it would cast with the bushings compared to bearings? I got a Z and C for Christmas and I’m not impressed.
No one has pointed out that the bushing kit sold for these reels separately range from $50 to $100 for a full kit. So basically the reel is $100 plus $100 junk bushings 😂
Blahahahaaaa No wonder non-Shimano guys hate us so much. We had to dig down into the $50 range to find something this reel would beat out, distance wise (by a margin of about 2 percent) In fairness, distance isn’t everything...I’m sure that reel is super controllable and easy to fish with.
I’ll count that as a win for shimano considering the price difference and the terrible quality of the 13 fishing and outdated technology that they say is revolutionary....
ouch! didn't know u were gonna be offended sorry, we all know its all jokes laugh a little, guess u thought it wasn't reel funny (this is the part were he tells me he is not offended and try say somethin smart)
Oil the concept bushings. It helps it out a bit... I bought one after two trips it sounded horrible, so I traded it. The guy who got my reel, right in front of me out a few drops of oil on the bushings and it casted like new. Disappointed me.... they aren’t meant to be dry.
I’d also like to point out that every positive review of the z is done by someone working with 13 fishing... reminds me of kast king. All talk and crazy advertisements from people working for the company
did u see the 8.46 score tackle tour gave this reel, lol!? and it got the innovation reel award. there was also talk about it outcasting the curado K by 8 to 15 feet. I still stand by your reviews, basically saying its a JOKE.
kevin henderson Tackletour is about the only review site I respect. I will say that the reviewer is right, people have different casting styles and abilities. That plays a factor. So if he says that he can outcast the K with the Z I respect that because thats his experience. But its not my experience, and you can see the brake settings I used for both reels. So I wish he went into more detail about that. He is absolutely right though about the bushings losing the lubrication after I pulled them out. Everytime I pulled the bushings to handle them, the louder the vibration/noise got. So before the next cast test ill be oiling them... with Shimano oil
THE REEL TEST The only site I'm apart of and respect also, great people. maybe I shouldn't bash this reel til I actually fish one, which will never happen. still enjoying your reviews though
If you painted a turd bright orange could I sell it for a larger profit than rolling it in glitter? People don't like my turds now but I know I'm not marketing them right. I might see if I can pay a pro turd handler to say my turds are the best....hopefully it works, wish me luck!
Finally the test that the entire universe has been waiting for!
You must be getting paid by 13Fishing 😂😂😂
THE REEL TEST why not see if the bushings from the bass rise will fit in the z. because that would have been boring lol and I have way too many tests and vids to make and way to little time :(
THE REEL TEST didn’t the concept z cast over 200 ft when put against the Curado k
Concept Z costs 4 times as much and only out casts it by 4.8 feet. Congratulations 13 fishing you should be proud.
The concept z is just all hype and a cool paint job. Shimano all the way
Best quote "a victory is a victory" I know this is an old video but man i died laughing
The Z price is high it probably cast as good as some of my affordable kastking baitcaster but I'm still gonna buy one just cause it looks cool👍
its not a bad reel, but not a great reel either
How would bushings perform on a BFS reel?
I believe your theory about the bushings may be correct. During the excessive RPMs achieved in the longer casts, the spool shafts are moving with more force in the bushings that if you were casting a normal lure. I could hear both reels but the Concept Z was exceptionally loud.
Do you know if these bushings will fit in place of any other shimano baitcasters? Specifically an SLX?
if you order the same bushings on the side plate because the slx doesnt have a spool bearing
@@THEREELTEST Thank you! Ball bearings get too beaten up in the surf, the rest of the internals are holding up pretty well with some extra grease but hopefully this can eliminate a few variables.
I have both concept z and curado k. I like the z better.

i share u his link, around the 25:00 mark he begins to talk about it facebook.com/951819708318991/videos/952309071603388/
I never heard of the guy but spool tension from my experience will depend on the braking system

BS. I have a 50+ years old abu ambassadeur 5000 with sintered bronze bushings that looks as good today as when it left the factory, despite heavy use.
How do you take off your bushings/bearings?
Didn’t the concept z cast over 200 ft when put against the Curado k
the bushings look similar in size can the bass rise use the 13 fishing bushings.tight lines D.C.
yes they fit
czb = a lot less maintenance, especially in salt conditions. some lathe operator could easily replace it by making and polishing bushings out of ABS plastics. no surprise, no spaceship materials and technology developed many and many years ago / brass bushings/

I already did it ua-cam.com/video/KELAXRJtd5c/v-deo.html
THE REEL TEST do u think its still noisy with bearings? so cld it be the noise from centrifugal not the bushing. though nvr recommended but probably can put oil on bushing what u think?
alot of noise comes from the braking system. but its a different noise
You can swap spool and side plate on Bass Rise with Caius and Salty One.
I swapped my Caius with Salty One spool and side plate so it has centrifugal brake now lol
I like the Bass Rise brakes actually, it skips really good

Already on the list of vids to make :)
THE REEL TEST Awesome

cool videos, nice guy, lots info, good to be here.
I wonder what city you live in? It seems like every reel test I see its always windy. Lol
Do you think water would get down into those bushings and quiet them
who knows, but im going to oil them as suggested by another commenter.. with Shimano oil of course lol
Test the "bass one"shimano reel if you haven't.
Blahahahaaaa
No wonder non-Shimano guys hate us so much. We had to dig down into the $50 range to find something this reel would beat out, distance wise (by a margin of about 2 percent)

tacklewarehouse started letting people put reviews on the concep z and most of them were bad. its no longer on their top sellers list lol
Ill have to check them out lol
I’ll count that as a win for shimano considering the price difference and the terrible quality of the 13 fishing and outdated technology that they say is revolutionary....
Oh God, here we go again, lol.
Just in case, figure you know what I mean after the last vid with the bright red/orange reel.
Im going to get $200 worth of videos out of this reel!
Lol here comes the post from "them" offering you a refund, or a straight up check and letting you keep it lol.
Bass Nazi a lil butt hurt.. lol
if you play this video and closed your eyes the whole time it becomes a very gay scientific audio log
is that because you are gay? lol
ouch! didn't know u were gonna be offended sorry, we all know its all jokes laugh a little, guess u thought it wasn't reel funny (this is the part were he tells me he is not offended and try say somethin smart)
i wasnt offended at all, just learn to take as well as you give :)
yeah I figured u were gonna say that lol but but for reel sorry lol
I'd get the Concept Z on ebay while it's still worth something :D
Haha what? That makes no sense...
Wouldn’t you wait until they’re being sold barely used for $40?
Oil the concept bushings. It helps it out a bit... I bought one after two trips it sounded horrible, so I traded it. The guy who got my reel, right in front of me out a few drops of oil on the bushings and it casted like new. Disappointed me.... they aren’t meant to be dry.
Oil or grease? the bushings had grease on them at first. But there was no oil in the box
THE REEL TEST Maybe grease will last longer, but they put oil since it’s lighter. Yea they don’t really help much. Just a thank you for spending $200
not even any oil for my $200. Id have to use Shimano or Abu oil
THE REEL TEST I agree, the concept c is a pretty good reel for 1/8jighead+plastic tho. No oil with it either tho. Some things I don’t understand
White Raven 13 fishing should have included that with the reel then. Its going to get Shimano oil lol
I’d also like to point out that every positive review of the z is done by someone working with 13 fishing... reminds me of kast king. All talk and crazy advertisements from people working for the company

Hahaha, a 200$ reel just doesn't compare to a 180$ reel from Shimano
concept z was a horrible fail by 13. $80 reel at best
Is it a DC reel? ah no its just a noisy cheap reel.
why people buy this crappy? come on. or it`s shimano or daiwa. ok, sometimes okuma and abu comes with something. hahahahah
#triggered lol
