Make the most of it. Way things are going it might not be up for long. Original version got me a strike and a warning. I'm on the naughty list. One more transgression and I'm UA-cam history. Have a great day! T.
Thank you Tony sorry I haven't been around lately but it's good to be back watching a reviews never saw this movie I heard very good things there's also two TV series one from the late '80s that was the best one there's a second one but it's watered down it's from the mid-90s thank you again.
Great content as always Tony. I remember seeing this film upon its release in a very decrepit West London cinema. Even back then I got the sense that it had been severely messed with. With the posters and the trailers, the sex content of the film was heavily emphasised over the thriller element. Desperation by the distributors?
Yes, the BBFC were not exactly gentle with this one. If you're going to make cuts, at least find someone who can edit to make them. Thanks for commenting, Peter. T.
Mickey Spillane is, as far as I know, the only author to have played his own fictional creation, appearing as Mike Hammer in "The Girl Hunters", a 1964 UK film adaptation of his novel. It's a pity that Armand Assante never became a major star; he was quite a magnetic screen presence and just as good an actor as Al Pacino.
Like most of David Lean's work it's beautifully shot and mounted. I think it might be over three hours long, so best get some snacks and drinks in. I can't say it ever held all that much appeal for me and I've only sat through it once when I was very young, so recollections are hazy, but I'd be interested in your findings, Streed. T.
@@tonybush555 if you've noticed my latest post, I think you'll be assured that I'm covered on nibbles😂 I've seen one Lean film so far, it was about 1 year ago, I watched The Bridge on the River Kwai (1957) absolute masterpiece that film is, brilliant transformation of a colonel corrupted by his own ego and obsession with reverence to the point he betrayed the very country he was trying to immortalize, it was his hubris that ultimately led to his downfall. that's definitely due for a rewatch, I still remember getting a chill when Colonel Nicholson's moment of clarity arrives saying "what have I done?.." anyways, whenever I review it, I'll notify you, could be a lovely chance to refresh yourself with the film, cheers T. ✌
Thank you for the shout out I remember seeing this movie in the theaters with a double feature a horror exorcism movie with Clint Howard . At a military school last time I saw this movie was on video disc
Another great review. Years since I seen this movie and fully intend to price check this blu ray Assante was always the nearly star who never quite managed it as a solo star. Great review thanks t
@@tonybush555 I recently introduced my best friend to the film and he thankfully loved it, so great to know this generation isn't entirely doomed but that's Jordie for ya, he's pure, uncorrupted by the ills of modernity
Review would have been better if I didn't have to censor every other thing, but still, at least YT have allowed this one to run. So far. Thanks, Renee. T.
Now I know why I turned out so Bad!(I didn’t have the Protection of Fracking Busybodies to save me from Video Violence and nudity 😮)Great Review! Thanks and cheers 🍷🍺🥃🍹
Ironically, considering the subject of the video, I'm getting "hammered" at the moment. Even more ironic when you consider that if it wasn't for sex and nudity we wouldn't exist as a species. Funny they're so taboo these days. T.
80ies genre fodder at its best. Saw the movie back then in an uncut German VHS version. Liked it then, still like it today. Not a good film per se, but en entertaining one … if you’re among the target audience. Almost everything about it would be an absolute no-go in today political climate. BTW: The film already won me over with its cool main credit sequence with Conti’s superbly 80ies main theme. Great review, Tony, thanks a bundle.
a brand cracking new Tony Bush review on my birthday too?! what a morning it's turned out to be

Another impeccable review, Tony. Now do Sidney Lumet's Prince of the City (1981), the best cop flick ever made.
Thanks, Ricardo. Prince Of The City is on my list. T.
Thanks!🍺🍺🍺
Grateful thanks for your generosity, oilergreg. Very much appreciated. T.

The only other I can think of off the top of my head is Stephen King in an adaptation of his short story "Weeds" in Creepshow (1982). T.
@tonybush555 Good catch. I forgot about that one. Mind you he's done it so often it probably shouldn't count. 😊🤔
I bought Doctor Zhivago (1965) on VHS today at the flea market at the cost of 2 dollars, I've heard great things about the film✌
