Slight spoilers for stuff near his base..... There's actually a double geode in the cave closest to his starter house, about 50 blocks from each other on the same Y level. I discovered this while playing along in my own world using this seed and it's fantastic. One of the two is a HUGE geode. Unfortunately this geode he found doesn't seem to be the same one.
Only creator I know can make a MC survival guide from day one and keep me entertained! I been playing for 10 years at least but I still look forward to his episodes😂
Definitely good to get new perspectives on things as well. My early game differs greatly in many ways, but refreshing to see a new take. Pix has also made more houses in these few videos than I have the entire time I've played Minecraft. I usually just dig out a hobbit hole for early game and branch mine from it until geared up enough to feel confident caving.
@@RedisFun2 I need to work on smaller scale ideas because everything I think of to build is always massive, which doesn't work well early game plus I don't even get to most of them at any point even though I'll go grind out a ton of resources for them.
While I didn’t learn a single thing, I’m always blessed to be entertained by Pixelriffs. I really enjoy the style of narration, the explanations (even for the stuff I already know). I also like that even though the death could have been edited out and glossed over, it was left in. This shows us mere casual MC players that even the top level pros get killed every now and then. Another excellent Pixelriffs video!
I get severe motion sickness playing MC. The survival guide is the closest I can get to vicariously playing the game in a realistic manner. 30 mins every day of pure bliss. Thank you for that.
Minecraft is actually the only first person game I can play that Doesn’t give me motion sickness. I have to play it in a small window, maybe 7x5, but I’ve found that helps a lot
@@LeslieHarvey607 my comment gathered a lot more replies than I expected. I find that if I play on a small screen, with the Quake FOV and I position my head just right without moving I can play for a bit. However, the next few days I get massive headaches and dizzy spells. As to what's giving it... How do I explain this, I feel like I am moving slower than I ought to. Does this make sense? I have not tried changing the mouse/turn speed as someone suggested. I love this series so much. Even though I know almost everything covered, every once in a while I do still learn something I didn't know. Plus I just live listening to this stuff in the background while I work
I like how Pixl uses things like an unexpected death for a lesson. I have seen so many Minecraft UA-camrs that freak out when they die. Now I can see if there were playing Hardcore and the put several hours in to play it would feel bad but I have seen many on just a survival that freak out. Thanks Pixlriffs.
I typically start with villagers. I can't be bothered with caving to mine ores unless it's to light caves up. Usually that supplies enough recourses for first tools and armor and with the first iron farm set up and villager trading you're basically set for the rest of the game.
I’d be tempted to start that way too, but for the survival guide I figured it was best to save them for later. It’s one of those “teach a man to fish” situations
If anything I think the death is fortunate. Anyone watching this survival guide to actually learn from is likely going to be able to learn from it because they're not unlikely to die a time or two
This might sound odd, but I'm so glad you died accidentally very early in the series. I remember when I was a fresh player I was very risk adverse because I felt the penalty for dying was high, but after playing a lot more and dying several times, I learned how to deal with it and not feel so punished. Seeing you handle it should be a good encouragement and reassurance
After playing endgame for a long time it always comes as a bit of a shock how squishy you are if you don’t even have enchants yet. Full iron armor is a huge leap, but by no means reason enough to get complacent.
I've played this game for years and never realized subtitles pointed you to the direction the noise is coming from. Thanks Pix, I'm still learning stuff from your survival videos.
21:11 I kinda agree with you there Pix, it’s one of the reasons why playing Minecraft is something I am not as passionate as before. Sure, the rework of the Caves gives new biomes to it and a whole new type of adventure, but the desire to find diamonds is one of the few things that makes someone go down there, and strip mining is more of a “grind” rather than exploration. Sure it’s true to the name of “Mine”craft, but since I can still have the tools and armour to villagers, it’s becoming less and less desirable to go there myself. I hope Mojang could find a compromise with that as it feels like a waste reworking the bottom of the world and neglecting it to have a “dark, gloomy city that is protected by one of the strongest monsters in the game” to have the people feel excited and thrilled to go to the bottom of the world. Anyways, great video Pix! I haven’t played Minecraft for so long, and these guides helps me have a general knowledge about the game after all these years
Soooooo, funny story, Pix. Way back in Season One you told us about subtitles and how they can indicate the direction of sounds. And since that day I've insisted on using subtitles despite the confusion of those who watch me. But I remember clearly saying over and over 'But how? How does it tell you which direction?!' I could never figure it out and I was terribly confused. It wasn't until somewhere in the middle of Season Two that you mentioned it again and something clicked in the back of my mind. I looked at the subtitles again and realised, with a colossal screech that the little angled brackets were indicating direction. ... I spent almost the entirety of Season One raging that somehow you must have had some secret, magical way of knowing which direction the subtitles were indicating, until I realised, in fact, I'm just a bit of a derp who wasn't paying enough attention. To hear you say it this time around and mention the angled brackets, made me throw back my head and laugh so very hard that my kids think I'm nuts. I have no idea if you mentioned the brackets in the last two guides, but if anybody out there is remotely like me, I'm sure they're VERY grateful that you mentioned it this time. Much love, Pix. This, as ever, is a wonderful episode.
This cave is too big! I haven't found any of the stuff you found, but found tons of different things like a different skeleton spawner, a mine shaft, some area that looks like its covered in some kind of algae or something. What an adventure!

Caving can be exciting, but I'm still a fan of picking a spot and just digging down to the X-16 level for iron, and X-54 or so for diamonds, if just because sometimes I don't want to get lost in the new, ridiculously large and complex cave systems that invariably pop up. I like a bit of control and safety until I'm a little better established...
I've been playing Minecraft for quite a while now, but if I would have found a series so in depth like this it would have made my journey into Minecraft an easier one
A little late to the party but really enjoying this series. As someone that's only been playing a year, I always learn something new when I watch these "guide" series. I don't see watching multiple as a repetition, I see it as reinforcement. I quite enjoy branch mining, it's just a way to chill with the possibility of some nice bonuses.
I've been playing since the beginning and you have taught me things that I didn't realize. Also why didn't you take the diamond horse armor by the skeleton spawner?
You could mirror the right/left side of the house, so that the door is on the right side and the stair goes down to the left. That way the stair would be a lot smaller. : )
I know this is old but just in case it can help, when caving you can use glow lichen instead of torches to light your way. it can be placed even easier because you can put it on top, sides or even beneath a block, it's not removed by flowing water like torches, in fact it stops the water from flowing. You need more ? use bonemeal and shears to make more on the spot. You can bring some with you or just use the bones of the skeletons you'll kill during your journey and some iron you'll have mined. Only drawback it lights only half as much as torched to and it's not great to mark the way because you can find it at random in caves already and it's also not as noticeable. So I would still grab some torches but use them only at intersections to mark the way.
I Always light up a spawner the second you find even if it means taking damage and taking out last surrounding bros, fabulous playthrough tho dude, love thisssss
I am loving this series! I love the review of the basics and the way you present the information is entertaining as well as very relaxing and fun to watch! I even loved watching you rack up your first “despawn” It’s refreshing to see players that aren’t always perfect and nice to pick up tips on how to get back to your items when that inevitably happens. Love the content, keep up the great work!
This channel has helped me in more ways than one…not only I’m I being entertained, I’m also gaining a ton of Minecraft knowledge… - Most importantly, it has brought my kids & I together. Even though we already have a solid relationship, being able to play a game that they love has strengthened our relationship tenfold!!
These types of videos from you are always great, Pix! you're very verbose in a clear and informative way; i've been playing minecraft since the wii u and yet there's still lots of stuff i don't know that you've shown off and explained. This series is seriously helpful and entertaining for both new and old players, thankyou for the great videos as always : )
One of the things I really like about the last hardcore and the current one is the way GemminiTay interacts with the villages and golem. In brings a whole new level of of story telling to the series. Mega trading halls of locked in villagers is for Hermitcraft mega builds.
2:34 Mobs are not more likely to spawn lower down in the world. The higher rates of farms built low in the world is caused by their lower total height, not their lower position itself. That's why it's recommended to remove the terrain on top of a slime chunk, as that decreases the total height of the farm and makes the mob spawning algorithm run a lot faster.
I appreciate the correction, but at this stage in the series I'm mostly trying to encourage beginner players to be cautious, not explain precise game mechanics. You're more likely to encounter large groups of mobs in lower regions of the world because there's less exposure to sky light, a higher proportion of large unlit areas where pack spawning can take place, higher chance of spawner dungeons generating... plus it's harder to escape dangerous situations because you have further to travel to reach the surface. But while we're here, I'm pretty sure regular mob spawning is generally understood to have increased rates lower down in the world. When 1.18 was in its experimental snapshot phase, the developers briefly changed spawn rates to be consistent across all altitudes. The stated reason was to prevent mob spawns from clustering in the lower areas of the world, and evenly distribute mobs across caves. It wasn't very successful, because other aspects like pack spawning and the hostile mob cap got in the way - and the technical community pointed out that it removed any opportunity to optimize farms - but I'm still pretty sure the developers still knew what they were talking about with regards to mob spawning altitude. Yes, it's most noticeable in farms with a lower maximum height, but it's still plausible that it affects hostile mob encounters while caving to a reasonable degree.
I don't like the idea of a creeper blast going through shield, but maybe a compromise would be the strongest hitbox of the explosion breaks the shield in one hit
I haven’t played Minecraft since 1.14 maybe? I think the bees update was the newest or about to drop. Man, it’s been so long. One day I’ll get back into it.
Hi pix, I have watched you since your first episode of season one 4 years ago and because of that my you tube channel has finally hit 100 subs thank you because you have taught me all I know about Minecraft. And pix it would make my day if you replied on this comment
30 Minutes of calming and relaxing fun, taking my mind off the real world to build a world that really does revolve around me. Thank You for the wonderful Survival Guide.
Good to note when breaking a block with a skeleton arrow stuck in it the arrow makes a sound like it is being shot. Can be confusing when you think you've already cleared out skeletons. Also, I think you take damage when it happens if you are too close to an arrow-laden block when mining it.
I finally went caving and went HARDCORE. I found diamonds and made a pikeaxe and made a enchanting and got fortune 3 efficiently mending unbreakable and been going ham since. I found 4 spawners very close to my home base literally like walking distance to each of the little huts I built over the holes. Two zombies gonna make on a automatic XP farm like you make and a skeleton and spider one. Pretty useful tbh just need to find one for a several more if there is and I have ways to farm many of the mobs lol and right next to the spider one is an ancient city? I think it's called lol my first time period so I'm figuring it out. Warden came out and shreked me
You are right about caving. I tried strip mining, but it wasn’t fun and yielded less diamonds. Going through caves and not knowing what you will come across is much cooler!
Yea I find it more fun too. But in my experience caving is way worse if you want to get Diamonds. Maybe I just hit the wrong caves, but 5 hours of caving gave me only like 8 Diamonds. Meanwhile I got 35 Diamonds from 30 min strip farming
This is true, but that means digging in a line at Y:-59 will uncover bedrock at floor level, meaning there are many blocks you can guarantee will not be diamond ore, because ore veins will not replace bedrock blocks. That’s why I recommend digging at -58 :)
Build a stray spawner from the skeleton spawner. You just need a bucket of powder snow and a cobweb. They drop arrows of slowness. I did mine without the bubble column elevator. It relies on increased fall damage from the mob dropping on to pointed dripstone. I like to leave chests in the tunnels to stash valuables. If I get killed, all of my eggs are not in one basket. Sometimes I also drop furnaces to smelt while I continue to mine. I empty the chests on the way out of the mine and leave them in place for later trips. A jack-o-lantern is great for marking key points when exploring. Glow lichen is great for lighting up a Nether fortress to farm Wither Skulls. Max 7 light level lets you see where you are going without preventing spawn. I like to go into deep caving expeditions well equipped. Two buckets of water, a bucket of lava, two stacks of arrows, a stack of scaffolding, two stacks of torches, a stack of good food, a boat, and a quarter stack of wood blocks get me through most situations.
@@Pixlriffs Whattt?! Tbh I do remember that season 1 didn't use it like this, though I didn't find your channel until after the start of season 2, but even though I've seen you use those other blocks I really swore that a lot of them was just copper! 🤣 My mind has been blown today haha.
I find it wild that you you *caved* to reach your mining level instead of directly shafting. Moreso, the fact that you're strip mining below the Lava Level.
I notice with these new cave, we have more chance to found diamond than coal, what a paradoxe XD And generally, i notice we found diamond again from 5 or 10 blocks at the level where you found a diamond ore so it's very interesting to see how now, we can do faster a diamond armor.

Thanks to this video I got 6 stacks of diamonds in like 2 hrs straight of branch mining with a fortune 3 netherite pick. Before I was caving and it was bringing horrible results. Branch mining on -53. Did the same with ancient debris and got 30 all on MC bedrock

I even loved watching you rack up your first “despawn” It’s refreshing to see players that aren’t always perfect and nice to pick up tips on how to get back to your items when that inevitably happens. Love the content, keep up the great work!
This channel has helped me in more ways than one…not only I’m I being entertained, I’m also gaining a ton of Minecraft knowledge…
- Most importantly, it has brought my kids & I together.
This is the video i'm searching for. enjoying the real rules of game no mod. loved it💖💖
One of the things I really like about the last hardcore and the current one is the way GemminiTay interacts with the villages and golem.
Loving this series Pix.
Been playing MC off and on since launch but it's good to be reminded of stuff like this every now and then.
I haven’t played Minecraft since 1.14 maybe? I think the bees update was the newest or about to drop. Man, it’s been so long.
One day I’ll get back into it.
The new format is working out great. This season is better than your earlier ones... which were also great😊
Hi pix, I have watched you since your first episode of season one 4 years ago and because of that my you tube channel has finally hit 100 subs thank you because you have taught me all I know about Minecraft. And pix it would make my day if you replied on this comment
congrats
@@abhiyanshnahar2054 thanks
Congrats on the 100. Keep it up! 💪
what? you acctualy commented. This has made my day and inspired me even more. Simply, Thanks
i have been playing since around 2010 so know most if not everything you show in the videos but am still enjoying watching them for some reason :)
Also, give Skizzleman some love for the skompass you used. 😂
30 Minutes of calming and relaxing fun, taking my mind off the real world to build a world that really does revolve around me. Thank You for the wonderful Survival Guide.
Quick tip you mine all blocks faster at max reach of 5 blocks deepslate included
Good to note when breaking a block with a skeleton arrow stuck in it the arrow makes a sound like it is being shot. Can be confusing when you think you've already cleared out skeletons. Also, I think you take damage when it happens if you are too close to an arrow-laden block when mining it.
when you said that the survival guide would be back, i did not expect daily videos, but i will take it, love all of them! :)
So, about caving I once found a really big vein of diamonds then a creeper blew them all up.
I mine for diamonds on -59 without problems. Is that just me? I love your content😊
12:37 Bedrock spawns on the bottom 5 layers of the world, so Y:-59 will also be clear as it is the SIXTH layer from the bottom.
Three seasons and still hasn't waxed that logo lol
Also definitely glad this series came back now. I always enjoyed watching it.
I’ve only been using the logo for 2 seasons, and people still haven’t realised it’s copper, gold, and diamond, not oxidising copper 😅
@@Pixlriffs Whattt?!
Tbh I do remember that season 1 didn't use it like this, though I didn't find your channel until after the start of season 2, but even though I've seen you use those other blocks I really swore that a lot of them was just copper! 🤣 My mind has been blown today haha.
wait the arrows indicate the direction of the sound??? thats so good to know thank you pix!!
3:17 Pix teaching people how to use a Skumpass.
I find it wild that you you *caved* to reach your mining level instead of directly shafting. Moreso, the fact that you're strip mining below the Lava Level.
Because precious ores spawn in clusters, it can be more efficient to leave a 3 block gap when branch mining.
Man is pumping these out love the videos mate
That block with a torch on it is called a skumpass
I think of the skumpass as a two-block high pillar, and usually in the Nether 😄
True but I've found they help everywhere when you are easily lost like me
I hope for the day skizz can do youtube full time like he is meant 2
I notice with these new cave, we have more chance to found diamond than coal, what a paradoxe XD
And generally, i notice we found diamond again from 5 or 10 blocks at the level where you found a diamond ore so it's very interesting to see how now, we can do faster a diamond armor.
The Minecraft Survival Guide is back! Yes!
Omg I know I’m late as hell to minecraft but I have a 5 yr old son and want him to be into gaming but call of duty is not it atm 😂 I’m fascinated by this game after a week and your videos have been the best I have found! Such great flow to your instructions and awesome tips and tricks! Thank you so much hope you getting paid!!! 😂 see you in the next video
Thanks to this video I got 6 stacks of diamonds in like 2 hrs straight of branch mining with a fortune 3 netherite pick. Before I was caving and it was bringing horrible results. Branch mining on -53. Did the same with ancient debris and got 30 all on MC bedrock
Found an amethyst, skeleton spawner, and an iron vein in your first caving expedition? That's heckin' lucky
Wow, I never knew coal doesn't generate at deepslate levels! That explains a lot...
Love it! Thanks been itching for more of your survival guides!
I just have to say, you do a stupendous job with these Minecraft Giude series, Pix! I enjoy them immensely and learn alot. Very well organized and yet super entertaining. I'm following along with you in this world, though a couple episodes behind. Did you find the igloo with the zombie spawner/zombified villager near the house yet??? Thanks so much for doing these.
Im literally finding myself waiting for pix to upload everyday to brighten up my day😂
Well, that was a good run. Hardcore Season 3 Survival Guide lasted *checks notes* 6 episodes!
You're doing an amazing job, Pix! Thanks for that! If I remember well in season 2 you obtained the diamond tools by trading instead of mining. What's your preference though? Trading or mining + enchanting table in the early game?
It was nice to see the coordinates.
Shine bright like a diamond 💎
I remember in an older version of minecraft I had like 17 diamonds on me and BOOM fell into a lava river and died.
Really enjoying this series even if I’m not a beginner at Minecraft. Keep up the good work 👍
That's fun - I have spent forever trying to find carrots and potatoes!!! LOL Hence, a village. :-) I like the starter home too. I am enjoying this!
This was helpful thank you
Three thumbs up! Great video. Thanks!
A skeletton spawner + a geode !! Cool...
By the way, your first diamonds were _actually_ at 11:20!
Guess that he left the diamond horse armor for storage reasons.
Thanks for the tips, Pix. I didn't know you can make a furnace with deepslate cobblestone. Now, if you excuse me, I going to watch Black Mirror!
3:22 This is called a Skompass, aka Skizzleman Compasss.
The funny thing is im a well seasoned player but still love watching how pixlriffs does early game. I just love his excellent explanational wording. Also i only play bedrock too but dont care he is just a legend...
They're planning to stop shields from fully blocking creepers' explosions!? Nooooo, my Hardcore world!!!! 😧
It might not happen, but I believe that’s one of the changes they were trying out in those combat snapshots Jeb was testing with the Reddit community.
@@Pixlriffs Won't lie, I kind of want it to happen. :P Anyway, keep up the great videos! Loving the return of survival guide!
@@Pixlriffs I don't quite remember that but while it makes sense that a single shied can't block ALL damage, less so explosions, that'd also really discourage using shields. Although the combat snapshots are still very early and seem pretty exciting so can't complain too much!
As stated previously, I'm playing hardcore along with this
I died lol
Your videos are always a pleasure to see after a hard day :)
How did i not know that more monsters spawned in the deepslate before? I guess everyone learns something watching these videos no matter their knowledge of the game
loving the daily episodes omg
Gotta love useing the scumpus
7:35 I take oak saplings and dirt with me so I can grow my own trees for torches.
I'm playing minecrat since the beta version and I thought I would knew anything about it... Pix reminds every so often that that is not true. Thanks for the enlightment.❤
Thanks Boss! Great Help as always! I'm friends with your Sister Sarah she was my Sixthfrom teacher x
Do most of these work in bedrock?
I believe the same tips apply to bedrock edition, but the ores we found in this video might not be in exactly the same places.
@@Pixlriffs thanks
