Awesome u r the only one that made it so simple to put 2 apps on the screen at the same time 🙏🏾. Thank u so much ☺️ I’ve been trying for a long time. I’m so happy 😀
Thank you, thank you, thank you for that last gesture! I have an iphone 6s and i use the power grip or whatever it’s called to move through text, super hany, and i couldn’t find out how to do it on this device... NOT UNTIL NOW!!!
I’m an Apple Sheep, but even I didn’t know the last one about using two fingers to move the hilighted bar! That’s awesome! Thanks for your awesome content!
Make sure to try it with one hand on iPhone with 3D Touch, and then you can press in again to select the whole word. Also a little weird, but it’s doable!
Stumbled across this video and am so happy I did. Remarkably clear and helpful. Subscribed and look forward to watching more. Thank you very, very much for producing such useful videos.
Would be nice if you could make a new video with iOS 13 gestures. Unfortunately none of the multitasking gestures work anymore (spotlight app dragging, picking 2 apps to add to multitask)
DEFINITELY starting to get a clearer picture of what folks like you and Federico are on about... it's been a peev topic of mine recently but if Apple cared about their customer experience as much as they think they do, they would be back in your inbox begging you to make videos for them. because most of us are just now beginning to grasp the concept of the iPad as a tool for work, it sounds corny to say so, but I see real discipline in those movememts. while Apple's refusal to usefully invest in demonstration/documentation beyond initial product demos is *really* starting to smell like used car salesman tactics. HOWEVER, this video is pure joy hehe.
I’ve been using iPad Pro since its birth. I loved it so much that I may soon prove the world that the fruit of productivity I can bring back into the world: it is nearing the end of making a game.
I really enjoy your digestible approach when explaining Shortcuts. I like to call the “workflows,” “shortcut-workflows.” Appreciate your contributions to the several podcasts you have appeared on. Keep it up!! :)
Thanks! Nice video, detailing more gestures than most videos. I just discovered this week that when you swipe between apps, the floating top app will remain, while the app in the background will change. One more tip (again something I just discovered), is that you can drag folders to your dock so you can fit more apps in the dock :P
How do I get rid of the split screen permanently - I mean how do i get it off of my screen. I play sky and I swipe the side a lot and UA-cam shows up plz halp!
Ashlyn Paige Studios It’s in the Settings app under Home Screen & Dock > Multitasking, toggle “Allow Multiple Apps” off - plus, I just put together this shortcut that opens to that page for you! Here you go: www.icloud.com/shortcuts/c4aac46f4724422fa989e89d9ddd7d84 Apps like Sky should account for extra touches too so maybe they have a setting in their app. I’ll be sure to include this in my next gestures video, thank you!
I said this on Twitter already but I'm going to repeat it here: the tip that starts at about 3m30s actually made me mad because I hadn't thought of it. I literally exclaimed out loud when I saw what you did: "WAIT! WHAT? I… DAMN, that's genius."
How did you get your keyboard to have a separate top row of numbers? The only settings I can find are flick or no flick (where you can either flick to get the alternate symbols and numbers, or you have to go into the numbers and symbols only view).
Matthew, I am from the UK and I want to use short cuts, a lot. The problem is I’m not sure where to start. Could you do a “Short cuts for dummies “ so that us old people can get our heads around it. I would like to do something like.....check the weather, check my route to work, traffic wise, check my emails and other stuff all in one go, if that is understandable. But as I’m not sure about what order to follow its been hard for me to work out. Can you help for us dummies!!!!!
I came for iOS 15.x.x screenshot and "always reclaim a full sized keyboard when I've been using Apple Pencil" gestures and stumbled across this. I had no idea something like some of these exist. I wonder what else is out there for iPad Pro 12.9 5th Gen I don't know about‽ I stay on top of things usually but, correct me if I’m wrong, there’s a lot since this is my first iPad, going from PC, iPhone, long ago Mac- (loved it). Off to hunt down what I want.
So many cool gestures! One not mentioned is getting a video app, such as Netflix or Amazon Prime Video to minimize to PIP. I am still wrestling with consistency. Slide up from bottom, app minimizes under finger, drag to upper screen corner and release. Sometimes I get it right and sometimes It closes the app. Any suggestions welcome.
Hi nice video learn some cool tricks. You show how you select an app on on the main screen and move it and choose another app to go on the side but when I try to move the app the cross on each app come on and you can’t do what you show is it because it’s iOS 13.4 we can’t move the icon like before you show that on the middle of your video thanks
At 2.47 you pick up an app from home screen. Not sure what I’m doing wrong with this. I keep getting the rearrange and remove apps wobbly app icons thing when I try and move the first app. Please help. 👍
I am using Microsoft One Note on a new iPad with the magic keyboard. When I am on a page attempting to type, typing works fine, but when I hit the space bar, the cursor jumps to the search window and does not put a space into my text! What am I doing incorrectly?
Very helpful thankyou. I originally came to find out how to disable double-tapping-to-select-text, which ipad mistakes for the super-fast comma/spacebar execution. This always results in deleting the last word before a comma. Kind of infuriating. I can't find the solution to this in settings. Can anyone help!?
Yes, that’s a good point - I was pausing that long for demonstration purposes, but I should have mentioned it’s not that laborious. You can also do more of an upside down L shape up and to the right, I’ve found that works well. But honestly, for the reasons I mentioned, I almost never use it - I use Spotlight, the gestures, or Recents (plus Command + Tab), especially since it doesn’t work as well with split view.
Matthew Cassinelli Exactly, it’s almost instant, really good, and you get the small vibration (at least in the iPhone) pointing out that it’s finished. But the L shape gesture is great so isolate it from the home gesture, after you do it few times it feels really natural and independent
I’m afraid I disagree. I have a lot of trouble with these gestures, where as I had no trouble with the iPad Pro gestures iOS 11. Most of the time when I try to swipe up to go home it just goes back to the app that I was in. I realize that this was done because of the disappearance of the home button but it is not intuitive and it is not always easy.
Sarah Sugimoto Well I don’t have the keyboard yet... shooting for next week, though I know better than to promise release dates :) I will try my hardest to make it as detailed yet simple as possible too, I want you walking away knowing for sure how to use it all
Doesn’t relate to the new iPad/OS, but I am baffled by the obscure zoom out gesture on the print screen that produces a PDF. Super useful, hardly anybody seems to know about it and it was hidden behind 3D-Touch on some devices
So glad I came back to Apple after I sold my iPad 2 years ago. Apple have definitely upped their game since then. I’m now tempted to switch my Android phone to the next iPhone.
I wouldn’t lie that I enjoy hearing this - I honestly think that Shortcuts gives iOS and Apple’s other products a very interesting future that I don’t see easily matched
The best shortcut videos I have seen after looking at 100’s of useless gestures videos. Precise, short and clear. Thank you Matthew
I’ve watched dozens of iPad videos and I literally only knew about two of these. Thats why this channel is becoming one of my favorite for shortcuts.
Thanks Adrian! Appreciate that - always try to be thorough, and even I've missed some tips
Arguably the most useful video on iPad I have ever seen. Yes I have subscribed and hope to learn more
Wow. I’ve seen a LOT of gesture videos - most of them just rehash the same basic stuff. This is BY FAR THE MOST helpful. THANK YOU!
Ah nice, I’ll take that compliment - thanks Lance!
Lance Gallup I feel the same
It’s actually the same shit man
Nice clear info..thanks
Awesome u r the only one that made it so simple to put 2 apps on the screen at the same time 🙏🏾. Thank u so much ☺️ I’ve been trying for a long time. I’m so happy 😀
This video should be required watching for iPad users. Very useful, and well presented. Thanks for the post.
Thank you kindly, Mike!
Thanks, holding on to the while using your thumb to open other apps is a games changer
@Mattew Cassinelli
Guinness brother you were knew about this gestures for a long time!!! 🥰🥰🥰
Excellent & very stylish handling of the device through gestures
Now I know I missed so much on my iPad Pro!! Thanks for sharing!
The multitouch gestures to open multiple apps are great and I had no idea how handy text selection was. Thanks for demystifying 👏👏🌈
Thank you, thank you, thank you for that last gesture! I have an iphone 6s and i use the power grip or whatever it’s called to move through text, super hany, and i couldn’t find out how to do it on this device... NOT UNTIL NOW!!!
Glad it helped!
Best gesture vid I’ve seen, speedy , clear , informative. I learned some new secrets for my new iPad Pro. Well done. Do more please.
Excellent! Fast and to the point. Thanks!
Wow. I will have to watch this again. And I thought I had seen everything that I had to on Gestures.
I’m actually making a new video cause there’s more too! Glad it helped though 👍
@@MatthewCassinelli Awesome. Will wait for that one.
3:46 MIND BLOWN!! I didn’t know about this at all.
Holey moley! You’re doing things I never even knew were possible. Now I need to go search your videos to start from the beginning!
I’m an Apple Sheep, but even I didn’t know the last one about using two fingers to move the hilighted bar! That’s awesome! Thanks for your awesome content!

Thank you Glenn! I really appreciate that
Wow thxs so much this video really helps me enjoy my ipadpro more
I learned a lot from this video! Thanks for the very clear instructions and great content!
Best video I've watched this month
Many thanks for you sir for this informative video
Hi mate, I was thinking to but IPAD this week and this video helped me to like it even more 👍really appreciated your good work...
Thank you for much for this!
Would be nice if you could make a new video with iOS 13 gestures. Unfortunately none of the multitasking gestures work anymore (spotlight app dragging, picking 2 apps to add to multitask)
Awesome video! 👏🏻
Okay, almost all of these I didn’t know! SHAME!!.. I’ve struggled so much with text selection! Thank you!

Great tutorial!
Great video! Looking forward to more
Best gestures bro! Very good! Thanks for putting lots of effort!
Love this! I wish you could do it just a lil quicker
What an incredibly useful video. You helped me learn a lot. Thank you!
Glad to help!
Enjoyed that! Very helpful for my workflow
Thanks Matt, this video is really useful and informative. Looking forward to more. Cheers!
I have an air 3. I think that most, if not all, of these gestures are useful for it also.
Best gestures video 👍👍 ...
This video is amazing just got the new iPad and helps so much
Nice.to learn more about iPad Pro.👍
Good quality! Ur underrated
Awesome video 👊🏾🤟🏾
This video is so useful!
It helps me a lot thank you so much

Thank you for the kind words! I have my show Supercomputer too if you hadn’t listened

Yes that's a great tip! The slide-over app is independent of the split view apps

This was so awesome! I totally forgot about some of these shortcuts! Keep up the great work and thank you for all the insight
Thanks! Glad it could help.
Also calling them shortcuts might be confusing with the Shortcuts app now :)
Thanks very much. Looking forward to more videos. Thanks
Fabulous and succinct ! Thank you!
Thanks that was helpful.
Not easy to learn, but fun to watch
2:44 How do I do this?? The app shakes & the delete icon appears
So much good stuff here Matthew! It’s awesome how smoothly integrating Shortcuts into any workflow can be.
Excellent point. The difference between building complicated shortcuts and using them once you’re done is huge, I should highlight that more.
Very helpful, thank you
Very informative! Thanks for sharing these tips! :)
Very helpful!
Excellent!
supercool! thank you!
Thank you bro
Awesome Matthew. Keep it up
Are you using default settings for this? Using ipad pro 2020
Thanks. This is great.
How did you get your keyboard to have a separate top row of numbers? The only settings I can find are flick or no flick (where you can either flick to get the alternate symbols and numbers, or you have to go into the numbers and symbols only view).
So much more helpful than apple support’s videos
Thank you! This video was super helpful, and I learned so much during the last half!
very good!
Wow..thnx for sharing though..i subscribed
Some of the se gestures are really cool.
Thanks !
Matthew, I am from the UK and I want to use short cuts, a lot. The problem is I’m not sure where to start. Could you do a “Short cuts for dummies “ so that us old people can get our heads around it. That’s on my list! Daily routine stuff like that is coming soon 👍
Great video

5 Finger close gesture puts Netflix into Miniplayer mode.
All of these are so helpful, esp. I have an Ipad Pro. But sadly my Ipad broke, I hope I should’ve knew this earlier
Hi nice video learn some cool tricks. There’s definitely some reaching going on......priceless
3:46 How do you drag those 4 pictures at the same time . I can not make it. Please can you explain better how to do it .
LESLI RODRIGUEZ B it looks like he’s dragging but he’s not. You have to pull the first pic like you’re moving it then just tap the rest.
Do You know how to have a right mausclick without Maus?
I think the bigger 12 iPad is too big, I prefer the 11 inch. If I am tired of the split view, how do I close it?
At 2.47 you pick up an app from home screen. Not sure what I’m doing wrong with this. I keep getting the rearrange and remove apps wobbly app icons thing when I try and move the first app. Please help. 👍
Andy Thomas They’ve changed it since I published this, it always goes into rearrange mode now. I’m working on an update
Matthew Cassinelli thanks for the really quick reply. Shame they changed it!
Wow these are amazinf
Thanks a lot

Ahh, couple of new gestures that I didn’t know about. Thanks Matt!

To go to multitasking screen you don’t need to to hold up. Just swipe up and then swipe right. You will get there faster.
Cheers!

Useful!

I have an update to this video coming soon for the 2020 iPad, the new keyboard, and the new iOS 13 gestures!
(And way better production quality 😇)
When will you be sharing this one Matt?
Sarah Sugimoto Well I don’t have the keyboard yet... shooting for next week, though I know better than to promise release dates :) I will try my hardest to make it as detailed yet simple as possible too, I want you walking away knowing for sure how to use it all
