Those helmets don't give enough full face protection and are not legal in most of the rest of the world, real surprised they are in Canada, in some state in America you don't have to wear a helmet at all so you ARE taking your life in your hands. The Beanie helmet looks kinda cool but it can come off your head so easily in an accident even if it is strapped on fairly tight, with a full face you just can't hear the roar of a Harley and I love that but I wear a full face too.

Hey Wesley, beautiful XL1200C! Your 2005 Sportster is carburated to fuel injected? I see you operate the choke and the engine sounds carburated. I thought HD phased out carburated engines before 2005?
Hello Nicolas, this bike was carburated and was very cold blooded, no matter if it was a hot July day, it still needed the choke open to start. Fuel injection was offered as an option for Harley-Davidson's popular FL-series Touring motorcycles starting with the 1996 model year, but in 2007 became standard equipment on all Twin Cam engine models, which now included all Touring, Dyna and Softail models. Only the Sportster series remained old school and retained the carbureted Evolution engine. For the 2008 model year, that series also lost carburetors in favor of Harley-Davidson's Electronic Sequential Port Fuel-Injection system.
Hey, I have the exact same bike but screaming eagle fuel injection and Vance and Hines short stacks. Just a quick question. This is my first Harley. Got it two years ago this coming November and the battery always dies on me. It is good if I ride at least once every week, but any longer lapse in riding than that battery is dead. Did you experience that problem or has anyone with the Sportster 1200 in this time period? If so what did you do? This problem has been persistent since I have owned the bike. Thanks for all you guys help.
All depends what you want in a bike. A 883 or a 1200, both good motor, never had any problems, it is good for single riding, but personally if you want to have your wife or girlfriend on the back do not expect to go far. The girlfriend and I will go out ridding anywhere's from two to eight hours on my fatboy, providing I have the back rest on and she never complains, only time I have to stop is when she says she is starting to fall asleep. I also own a 2013 streetbob which I love as well but even that is only really meant for one person as she gets uncomfortable. With the sportster she could only ride for an hour then would want to go home from sore back. Like I say it is up to you, what you think you can handle or what your comfortable with, if its an 883 you like then so be it do not let anyone else tell you otherwise, as well this is just my point of view. Another question to ask yourself is if you plan on keeping this bike for a long period of time, look down the road at something you would actually really want, as it may just end up costing you more money going from bike to bike. Anyways that's just my two cents. Good luck with your decision, keep the shinny side up, cheers.
Wesley Moore I get the same thing when I tell people I'm looking at Sportsters, "nah you don't want that, get a Dyna Wide Glide/Street Bob/Switchback/yada yada." I'm looking for a bike to go to/from work, ride around town, and maybe the occasional cruise. The big fully-dressed touring bikes are works of art but are really two-wheeled cars and don't appeal to me.
+Wesley Moore Interesting. I want my first bike to be a sportster 1200, but I have my fiancee. She would most likely only be comfortable for short distance riding then? Like around town or so?
The bike was good for around town, but not long rides. I now have a fatboy & a streetbob, and my wife finds those way more comfortable, not to mention there is more power for 2-up riding. She can sit on the fatboy all day long, the streetbob maybe 2-3 hours then she starts feeling uncomfortable.
So, I ask you: Is that why you're selling it? The same scenario I had to deal with? I have to hear the very bike start, BEFORE I buy it. (read my my post before this one).
Like I said before, nothing was wrong with the starter, battery was completely dead. It had enough juice from all night of charging for one start that was it. I put a new battery in it before I sold it and it work just as it should no pause. At the time I had 3 other motorcycles and that one was being driven the least (two years maybe 100 km on it). No point on keeping it if I never drive it, love my fatboy to much, have 11 000km on it and counting just this summer alone, anyways keep the shinny side up, cheers.
