    Welcome to 2 wheeling . Ride safe , ride again ! Bought the same bike 3 months ago , been riding over 30 years only Hondas . My first H.D. always wanted one but they are to damn expensive over-seas . Finaly a Harley . Best thing you could do is keep up with services on oils and it should take you where you want .

    Nice, beautiful sportster, only thing different I would do with it is put mini apes on it but that’s just my preference, you didn’t mention it’s got a high flow air filter also to go along with those pipes, sounds great, enjoy, and don’t let assholes tell you that sportsters are girls bikes, that’s a load of bullshit!
    I’m 60 years old now, back when I was younger most bikes were a lot smaller displacement than this, and those weren’t considered girly bikes, as old age has creeped up on me and giving me arthritis and muscle loss I have myself returned to the sportster, pure fun!
    2008 1200 sportster custom in the solid pewter color like on yours.

    Was just thinking how your Dyna is like a bigger version of this Sporty.. I realize this video has a few days on it but I just totally redid a 2009 XL1200L for my wife.. It has the cycle shack muffs on it. I added the DK Customs 606 Stage 1 aircleaner with the EBS and a Bobber cover and fuelpack tuner. Got it from a fellow on our Harley Forum a month ago. Got everything done for fresh bike that fits her perfect.. You know, I 1st saw you on the Harbor Freight Jack mods for your Dyna. I did the same exact thing for my Dyna.. We traded in the wife's 2020 Iron 883 for the bike that she had to have. A 2021 Softail Streetbob. After only 2 months and 253 miles, she was missing her Sporty. So, rather than more payments, I put together a bike she really digs now. My channel has my Dyna, that I bought totally stock, with 7k on it to now, my ride.. Also a video of her 2009 XL1200L and a video of Streetbob were selling.. Come take a look and drop a few words.. Thanks

    Nice, but one year too new. I have an '06 1200C in almost that same color. No crash bar, no luggage rack, and still has the stock air cleaner. Also has slip ons, I don't know the brand, they were on it when I bought it. Big difference is mine is carbureted. Much simpler than EFI, and it can idle much slower, so you really get that Harley sound at idle.

    A great ride until that specific year starts getting gremlins in the electronics. literally the next year and then the year after that (2008 then 2009), the wiring harness' number of wires is literally cut in half each year. 2009 is the same exact thing you have sitting there but a quarter of the wires and fuses!

    • @bluesriderDF
      @bluesriderDF  Рік тому +1

      Wow really? I never knew that. Usually they make them more complicated. What s simple machine the XL Sporty was, compared to now.
      I ended up getting a Dyna Low Rider in 2018 which I still have.

    • @YouGoneMad
      @YouGoneMad Рік тому

      @@bluesriderDF I also was saw the Dyna's as a big boy Sportster. It's literally the exact same frame design, but bigger, and a slightly bigger engine. When you really think about a Sportster 1200 they aren't really much smaller than the biggest of bike in the HD lineup. I mean the big V-Twins run a 1340cc which is literally only 140cc more than a sporty. Where everything changes is that the build is compartmentalized instead of being built as one piece and so you can spread things out a little further and give the bike frame a bigger and longer look which allows more comfort for the rider and more room for the passenger. The biggest upgrade isn't the engine because tuning and weight adjustments can put the XL1200 and the 1340 on the same speeds, no, where the biggest separation and honestly a thing of comfort as well is the transmissions. Getting that 6 speed transmission just makes life so much nicer to just hop on and cruise forever and truly just enjoy becoming one with nature. 5 speeds suck on bikes.

    • @bluesriderDF
      @bluesriderDF  Рік тому

      @WorldIn2Madness Good explanation. I agree, the 6th gear is huge. I have a Dyna Low Rider now, which I love. Doing 70mph on the Sporty on the interstate was very buzzy. Much more enjoyable on the Dyna.

    • @YouGoneMad
      @YouGoneMad Рік тому

      @@bluesriderDF Yeah, not comfortable at all at higher more normal highway speeds, but then again they aren't really made for that. No matter how they dress it up, those Sporty Motors have and always were dirt track racer designed, and they really haven't changed too much in the grand scheme of things, since those days. Sure some modern changes to pistons, air intakes, electrical systems, but overall they are still those little dirt track racers, Cafe Racers i believe they were called?
