I think a great singer is all about a great tone and pitch. You can have a huge range or a big voice and still not stand out

So my father used to be a singer back in his life. This was the first time i asked to sing a song and gawd it was sooo fkn good. I asked him if he could teach me. He said just sing freestyle you know like, sing with your speaking voice and aloud. I think you people do the same.plus do 10 minute warm by jacob academy. And also do the Do Re Mi exercise by singing school. I progressed alot in these 2 days.

There not good because people don't really know what exercises they need to do most of the time there doing exercising to help them fix a problem with there voice that they don't have. It's better to go to a vocal coach because they will be able to know the problem but if you do the right exercises UA-cam isn't bad. And this exercise is good this is for just generally improving your voice

Learning to sing well is easy, learning to sing well on demand is the real challenge. Singing is one of those things that we always think we aren't good enough to pursue, but it's completely possible for anyone to sing. Even for a 23 year old chain smoker, in 5 years from the first time I sang off tune to singing on key with decent vibrato

I sound like I have a tracheotomy with the thumb over it to make sound. People look at me strange when they hear me speak. I have hope now that one day I will sound normal, with a pleasant speaking voice. I'm so grateful for your instructions on vocal improvements! I can't believe it.! Can't thank you enough!

My Pastor recommended an interesting exercise for breathing. Take a small, say, 4 inch by 4 inch piece of paper, hold it against the wall, then exhale and keep it held against the wall using only your breath. He told me to aim for 8 seconds.
I often get more positive comments when I resonate with my low voice, because I'm a baritone and it's very natural to me, (now after 3 years of practicing singing), but I would like to have a better high voice resonance.
For newer singers, I used to try the Yawn a lot, and kind of just did it because I was told to in training videos. If you have a hard time hitting your soft pallet, if you're guys, just try to talk like a girl. Then practice vowels with that "girl" voice, then holding notes like Dan was doing in that voice. I just thought that example was easier for me to grasp, but maybe the Yawn works for you.

Matt, your Pastor's advice may lead to an over-pressurisation of the breath flow...be careful.
