I've had Dr Dan as a personal vocal coach in the past and can 100% recommend him and his teaching method. I have gradually increased my ability to sing over the years and am getting to a point that I am satisfied with my abilities as a singer (With still, much more growth to go!), and, I attribute much of this growth to the early practice I did with Dr Dan in our one on one coaching, and the knowledge he shares online. To this day, EVERY day, I practice Dan's vocal warmup exercises. I highly recommend him as a person and as a teacher!
It's singing, so you'd think the full benefit might come from just listening to the audio But there's something being able to watch the practice that is very helpful. Especially in the lip bubbles and sirens. Many thanks for this.
Dr. Dan, I love your earthiness and straight forward style of vocal coaching. You even admit to a mistake and for me that made me an instant and lifelong fan of you, your videos and your voice lessons. Please keep up the good work and thank you so for sharing your knowledge of singing and your love of music with the rest of the world:)
Hi Dr. Dan, thank you so much for these videos. Wow! What a need not just in my life but for so many. I'm a career Evangelical missionary serving in Japan. I lead worship and use music a lot in my ministry to make Him known among an unreached people. What a blessing you are to me and so many!!
That is great. I am glad you are learning from this. I think preachers and church singers in general traditionally don't know how to practice proper care of their voices.
Hi, Iggy Popović. You may find my online singing course helpful - drdan.co/onlinesinginglessons. Feel free to check it out sometime. The first module is free to preview!
Hey Dr Dan 🙂 thanks for this excellent video..these are my favourite exercises! They do a great job warming up the voice. 15 minutes well spent- guaranteed👍👍👍
@@mariosaucedo6234 vocal warm ups are now my absolute must do before undertaking any lengthy period of singing ( before a vocal workout or a gig).. cool downs afterwards too BTW! They just gently stretch and warm up the cords, and it feels significantly easier to 'work' with a variety of songs. Helps prevent sudden strains too. As for recommendations, as Dr Dan said in this video you're best doing your own self customised warm up according to your own voice and how it feels. What he has done in this video is demonstrate how the exercises should be approached..but it is not a case of just copying what he does here..i would either download the exercises from VE 1 or ( you're lucky!!)... Checkout his pinned comment above which is his ten minutes warm ups in entirety. That'd be a great place to start! Good luck!
This is really helpful to see how a regular warm up is put together, but this would definitely be too stressful for my voice right now. I always struggle in understanding how to arrange these warm ups, so I love this video. Gonna start using it when I am healthier.
this helps so so much. i appreciate this video so much !!! u have a gift, it’s honestly unbelievable. just by watching this one video u have inspired me to be like u r and i really appreciate that :)!
I appreciate the friendly, laid back (yet still professional) approach. It does not matter "if you're a bit... how's your Mother" so funny, so Australian.
Dr Dan--now that my voice is coming back and getting stronger, I use this video exclusively to warm up for my classes. I can't go very high, so I start at my comfortable range and go as high as I easily can, then drop back down again. But it helps so much! I hope that you will make a Cool Down video in this format, too. Right now, I just start at the end and go backwards, but it can be hard to find the right spot. A Cool down video like this would be awesome.
Something about this arrangement of exercises I find particularly effective. I use this video all the time. Even when my pitch is a little… you know, “how’s your mother”..? LOL.:) Thx Doc! 💥😎💥
Again thanks so much for ur videos! I've watched many of them multiple times. I'm just a beginner singing for fun. Couldnt sing a note 6 months ago now I can actually sing thru a whole song without calling in all the neighborhood cats. Lol
Truly Awesome lessons and love the teaching and the teacher! What I liked is that we could be loose on technicals and still be able to accomplish the goal here!! Many thanks 🙏🙏
I think I've already posted a similar comment here awhile ago, but it's well worth repeating. I still use this video for my warm-ups. For anyone that doesn't know Dr. Dan, I bought his Voice Essentials, CD 1 and Cd 2 about two years ago. Priced the way they are, they are a steal; well worth the money!!!

Thank you for sharing that and admitting it. Hopefully it will encourage others to start warming up. I don't think a lot of choir practices have proper warm-ups to start with either. I know we didn't at the little family church nor at the very large church I attended years ago
