      Got this machine for Christmas and if Aluminum ever goes up in price Trump will call me for a Loan ! I always hunt in Disc and use all metal for pinpointing only if you get the dreaded ring to coin pong bounce it's Aluminum 99% of the time I just move on now !

    Fellow Floridian here up in Jax. I've got a Minelab Explorer with a 15" WOT coil that I use on the beach and recently scored an Excal after seeing another Excal user come out of the surf with two rings and an anklet... which is what brought me to your channel while looking for Excal tips. Thanks for the great videos, you're like, totally awesome !

    Another excellent review video. You go into great detail in these reviews. This is a must watch for anyone considering buying this excellent detector. Whites is still made in Oregon USA. That I like as any problems can be sent back without huge charges with shipping. Looking at Whites detectors, that coil looks standard on most of their machines. It must work really well to be offered on so many detectors. I like the colour light identifications. If you were snorkeling with a mask on, that would be easier to see. They really put a lot of thought into this design. I would think that it takes time to get used to all the pros, cons and quirks, but in time would appreciate the value in this detector. looking forward to watching you do more hunts with this Beach Hunter 300.

    • @SheDetector
      @SheDetector  7 років тому

      Thank you! And thanks for watching! I try to answer all the questions someone might have about the machine. :D That's a very good point! Yea, this is the first machine I've seen with color ID. It's interesting. :) And your right, snorkeling would be a great place for this machine. Especially in murky water possibly. :) I'm looking forward to hunting with it some more also. :)

  • @MylesNicholas
    @MylesNicholas 7 років тому +3

    I suggest you make some common targets, just epoxy a coin, nail, pull tab, ring, washer etc. in plastic caps or lids.
    Throw them on the sand and see where a coil's hot spot will be located.
    The various shapes also affect detection.

      I know what you mean. In the last hunt I did, I did some hunting in the water and I did start noticing the coil floating a bit. I'll need to try it in deeper water but I'm expecting the floating to get more noticeable the deeper I go. Thank you! And thanks for watching.

    I have a Beach Hunter 300 Id...Works great on the beach and ok in wet sand, not so great in the water. But I do like it and planning on keeping it. This is the one I take when I go to the Beach for vacation. It loves to find gold rings, and hates pull tabs, but you dig all green and yellow color with this detector. This is no pi machine...sandollar....!

      Hahahaha! Tell me about it! I have no idea. Well thank you! And thank you for watching! It can be a bit confusing. There are so many to pick from and they do so many different things. The best thing is to figure out what you really want in terms of "bells and whistles". Once you figure that out, it's a tiny bit easier. :)

    I see you don't have a digital I.D readout screen on the 300--and I know you are really good at figuring out the identity of a target without it and you must be good at knowing the depth of a target by the sound issued by the detector,and it's great--I am still a newbie at this detecting hobby so I think I would need a digital readout that indicates by number the identity of a target and depth ---like the mx5 or AT Pro--and I just like to look at numbers anyhow--lol--,so I got to think you are pretty good at this sport,which I admire --I appreciate you, taking the time to demonstrate the abilities of the different detectors,and someday hope to get to your level of experience -- I will be looking for your next video,thanks HH and GL

    • @SheDetector
      @SheDetector  7 років тому

      That is correct, no screen read out with this machine. Well thank you but I assure you, I'm no expert at determining what I'm about to dig. Only with the Excal can I guess 2 possible items. Bottle caps and foil. Hahaha! Neither are helpful of course. oh well! :D Thank you! And thanks for watching!

    The Beach Hunter ID is deepest when set close to max sensitivity in all metal. There is a significant jump in sensnofnthe LED disc system in AM when you push sens near max. you will go much deeper with LED id. GB is not so important in FL soil due to low mineral content. I have mine with 9.5" coil and it is quite deep in close to MAX sens in AM. Disc modr sucks and the coil floats, only cons with this unit. It is good at micro jewelry hunting in wet and dry sand when set like above. It is an inherintly noisy MD at max sens but you will hear targets through the noise. In the water preset or slightly below works well.

    • @SheDetector
      @SheDetector  7 років тому +1

      Oh that's good to know. I'll have to try increasing the sens on my next hunt. :) It floats huh? Good to know as well. I've not gone very far into the water with it yet but I will. :) Thanks for the tips and info. I'll keep them in mind on my next hunt. Thank you!

    Good job I know what the first time out with a new machine is a challenge. I think this may be a good one but it is also not for the beginner. May I suggest you do a comparison the same as you did with the last one and at lease this way you have a fighting chance on identifying what you have before you dig it.
    Also I wanted to suggest to you and your viewers that if you have a problem with screws and nuts loosening. Before you tighten them up a drop on the thread so when tightened and the glue dries it will stay till you put a wrench or screw driver to it to loosen. GL&HH

      Thank you! You're right about that, using new machines takes some time to figure them out. I'll be doing a few more hunts with the 300 and I'm looking forward to learning more about the machine. :)That's a great tip! Thanks!

    I think she is just learning. One video the sand scoop handle was on the bottom side, but now it is on the top side correctly. And yes tie the first 8-10 inches straight from the coil with some play, and then wrap starting over the top around the detector stem until you get to where you connect it to the brains of the detectors. This is almost standard practice. I don't think she is really watching other youtubers like aquachigger or relic recoverists and learning from them about how to really find things. She could especially watch and listen to Ed the beach hunter's videos and learn a ton of stuff and increase her good find rate. Maybe that would increase her subscriber base because I think all serious metal detectorists take these things seriously as well as entertainment. Please take this a helpful comment.

    • @SheDetector
      @SheDetector  6 років тому

      I am still learning. I learn something new every time I go out! :D For the Raptor handle, I've mounted it a few different ways to see which way will work best for me. I don't really think there is a set right or wrong way. Same thing with wrapping the cable. I honestly don't see a difference if I wrap it around the shaft or run it straight up and bundle it up top. The machines work the same in my opinion. Plus, having the majority of the cable weight closer to me makes the coil area lighter and thus easier to swing. Tony Eisenhower uses that same practice. He's actually who I learned a ton from. Check him out if you don't already watch him. :)

    I'm a new subscriber, my name is Larry. I've noticed from @ least 2 of your videos that you don't use a metel detector with a digital display. Is there a reason why you prefer the more analog versions over the digital ones. I own a Garrett AT Gold, digital display and I love it!

    • @SheDetector
      @SheDetector  7 років тому

      Hi Larry! Thank you for subbing and watching! Hum, not that you mention it, I don't use machine with displays do I? Hahaha. I never really noticed. It's not something I didn't on purpose I promise. The machines I'm testing out where selected by my viewers several months ago. They are machines people wanted to see in action. I do plan on testing many more machines and several of them will have screens. The ones I've been testing lately are specifically beach machines, made to go underwater so screens aren't really good for that. To much pressure from the water.

    Hey hunters. They say the PI detectors will work Mach better on beach than any multi frequency like the NoX, Makro, Anfíbio, Simplex, Tesoro, etc, but they will pick everything (trash) because they don’t have discrimination. Is that true? If so, what to do? Lose depth or dig up for everything? So hard decide!

  • @TheJoeyboots

    Nice review. Your thoughts on PI vs VLF for beach hunting? I like PI units. That coil looks a bit difficult on pinpointing it did seem to favor the left side. But it seems pretty good machine built solid. What are the 5 machines you are going to test? I am hoping the JW Fisher Pulse 8X. Or the Garrett AT Pro I am thinking about the AT Pro as I dont have a good VLF machine. Can you post the list your going to review? The Whites TDI Pro looks like a winner, also its PI. Thanks for picking up the cup :) I know the feeling with a hard to locate garbage I feel your pain!!! LOL keepa huntin treasure its out there.

    • @SheDetector
      @SheDetector  7 років тому

      Thank you! And thanks for watching! Oh that's a hard one. All machines have their pros and cons. :/ I don't know that I could answer. But, my favorite machine is by far the Excal. It's a VLF. So.... if I had to pick between a VLF and PI, I would go VLF. But ONLY because I love my Excal. :) Yea, the coil was throwing me off a bit. But maybe it was just the wind. Hahaha! I'll see how it behaves on the next hunt. :) I agree, it seems pretty solid so far. Still have more testing to do of course, including underwater. :) The five machines in the order I'm testing them are: 1) Fisher CZ-21, 2) Tesoro Sand Shark, 3) Whites Beach Hunter 300, 4) Detector Pro Underwater, & 5) Viper Hybrid Trident. I'm halfway done with the list. Sadly the 2 you listed aren't on the list. But, I did try out the AT Pro already. I've got about 5 videos with it, make sure to check them out. :) Hahaha!

    She Detector, does not wrapping the coil help with anything?

    • @SheDetector
      @SheDetector  7 років тому +1

      I want to say no, but it could be different on some machines. On the machines I've used, I don't believe any of the directions said not to wrap the cable the way I did mine. So long as it's not interfering with the coil, I don't see a problem to running it straight up. And I don't see a benefit to wrapping it around the shaft. Have you heard or read anything saying otherwise? I'm curious.

    • @the.tricky.outdoorsman
      @the.tricky.outdoorsman 7 років тому

      She Detector I've heard rumors that wrapping in front of the shaft helps with Target ID. But I've also heard that not completely wrapping the coil like you do, helps with less fatigue while swinging.
      Thanks for your reply, it's always nice getting to hear back from you. As always, Good luck and Happy hunting.

    • @SheDetector
      @SheDetector  7 років тому +1

      That's interesting. I've not heard the first one. I have heard the second one though. I agree with that. Adding the weight of the coil closer towards you reduces the weight you have to swing. :) You're very welcome!

    It sometimes helps me recover items better in the quicksand when I dig several or more quick scoops as fast and deep as I can to try and out run the formation of the quicksand. I just throw the piles away from the water and check each pile hoping I got the item in one of the scoops before the quicksand got them. If you check the hole after each scoop you allow more time for it to sink. Sometimes I'll aggressively dig as deep and wide a hole as fast as I can and pile the dirt up in a safe direction away from the water hoping to maximize my chances of getting it before it sinks. I just know the ones I lose got to be those massive diamond and platinum rings lol.

    • @SheDetector
      @SheDetector  7 років тому

      I know what you mean. I've not very quick when it comes to digging several holes super fast. The weight is just to heavy to me. :( But I try! :D But, I can try what you said about digging several scoops and then checking them later. I like that. Lol! That's how I feel when I can't reach the targets!

It was caught in the early stages, so hopefully I won't glow in the dark for nothing. :)..Now that I got that outta the way, I was a bit shocked that the Whites acted up when the waves past over it. Is that common with most beach detectors? I'm sure that machine would probably act better once you had time to work the bugs out. I also noticed that the target I.D. wasn't all that either.Then again until they come up with a way to eliminate Aluminum if it isn't going to get better.. Thank, for sharing the vid
