Thank you so much! I'm in 5th grade and I have a Ukrainian girl in my classroom but she is from the part of the Ukraine where they speak Russian. I have known her since she came to America which was in April maybe May but we are friends and she needs my help so I help her. And I thought it would be easier to learn the language instead of having to use our translator we have. Anyway thank you for helping!

Elias Diakakis I said she does not look like ETHNIC russian. In russia there is difference between nationality and ethnicity. Person with rissian ancestry is русский (russkii), citizen of Russian Federation is россиянин (rossiyanin). All Русские in Russia are RF citizens, but not all Россияне are русские. It is because in russian name of the state Rossiya is not coincide with name of russian nation (russkie).

How do you say 'Sorry i don't speak russian' or 'I am not russian' because in the part of Vietnam that I am currently in (nha trang) there are a lot of Russians (not saying it's a bad thing I love Russians) but they constantly think I am Russian because I am a white Australian and I look a bit Russian and they come up and start talking to me in Russian and it's really awkward 😂 I just want a polite way to say it

Tatiana, I like how you break Russian words down to syllables.
Then please add one more step after - the sound of each Russian alphabet letter to that sound (or combo two Russian letters). That way I can learn the pronunciation of the Russian letters. Thanks.

This is such a good tutorial! You girls could earn a living at this. One thing I'd like, is that when you confirm the word/phrase "now say it with me" - you only show the Cyrillic spelling. This is because I automatically revert to reading the english spelling. I need to see only the Cyrillic spelling in order that it sinks in to my thick skull! Minor point and thanks for all your efforts. Mac
