Ecco. Lei è una cosa bellissima che capita ogni tanto. Musicista straordinaria per talento, espressività, carisma, tecnica, suono, linee, fraseggio, gusto musicale, rispetto della scrittura. Ma ha una dote che pochi musicisti hanno: il racconto della musica e la capacità di trasmettere quello che vedono mentre suonano. Tu non le togli gli occhi di dosso, e lei continua a parlarti. Meravigliosa Leonora Armellini, grandissima pianista italiana piena di luce, dagli occhi vivi e appassionati.
Esattamente così!! Ti accompagna nel suo viaggio,fatto di fraseggio,punti culminati,poesia in ogni nota
I have listened to her playing multiple times since this competition was completed. I think she is by far the best of them. Judges obviously did not agree. She is an exceptional story teller.
Authenticity and originality. I love when pianists are brave and spontaneous with their interpretative choices. Congratulations, Leonora!
It's such a delight to listen to her soulful playing! One of the best third ballades I've ever heard. The fourth ballade was pure magic! Thank you Leonora Armellini! Your performance brightened up my day. I hope we'll see you in the finals! Good luck!
I really like that Armellini's playing is consistently excellent. Plenty of contestants played some pieces much better than others, or played much better in the first round than the second round or vice versa. Not so with Armellini; she can be relied upon to deliver time and time again.

I wouldn't go along with a young child's impressions. A woman's beauty is not in her looks or her body. From the Japanese point of view, most Western women are fat.
Her Ballade in F minor was wonderful.
The third ballade was near perfection! I am not sure if I have ever heard this piece played in such a coherent way.
Beats even Zimerman. Magnificent rendition. Flawless and inspiring!

De belles phrases magnifiquement pensées et écoutées. De l'élégance et une grande justesse, pas de fioriture, pas de cinéma, une interprète sensible et généreuse qui ne cherche pas à se montrer et qui se met au service de la musique, c'est simple et beau ! Pour moi l'esprit de Chopin est ici totalement respecté.

I love her deep tone. Listening to her tone makes me feel very relieved and calm.
There's an authentic and soulful musicality in her playing. So far my favorite pianist of the competition. Bravo !
Oh my God, she is GLORIOUS!
Probably the only competitor who hasn't snubbed the waltz. It seems to me that most of contestants play the waltz just because they have to. Armellini's waltz is elegant, refined, full of dynamics and nuances. In my opinion the highlight of this performance was the change of color between the fourth ballad and the polonaise. It's a completely different kind of "forte".

Methinks the judges have a very difficult task to decide who stays and who goes after round two ... so many great pianists in this competition. I really like this pianist and hope she is a laureate.

Armellini and Fazioli are perfect match. I feel like the piano is a singing soprano in her performance.
I agree! For me FIRST PRIZE! (unless Bruce Liu naturally on Fazioli repeats the Stage One level today!)
Interesting to hear this. For us, the opposite seems true: we think her tone doesn't need the extra richness of the Fazioli. On the contrary, we feel this combination is too much of a good thing and everything becomes too equal and too brilliant. A Steinway would perhaps suit her more.
A mezzo-soprano or an alto I would say:)
@@paulmetdebbie447 "That Fazioli!" is my first thought when hearing her. I don't feel that she needs to balance her unique musicality with anything and make her music less "her".
I remember watching the competition in 2010 and I felt she was robbed when she didn't get to the finale. She was definitely a rising star. There was no doubt that she was exceptionnaly talented.

Didn’t know she competed 11 years ago. Wholeheartedly agree that her third ballade is one of the best; she was in total control, projection of her emotion was just enchanting, if not haunting.

There's a recording of her playing the second when she was 16 and there's a live performance of her when she was 19 playing the first
No cheap tricks, no weird form, no crazy tempos or exposing extreme levels of dynamics, no coquetry - this is what True Art sounds like and I hope that the Honorable Jury of the competition thinks the same!
For me personally, Fazioli is the next step in the history of the development of the piano. Yes, I will listen to a recital on a historical piano, but it is like getting into my old Citroen 2CV, which is of course charming, but that's history ... of course something good for everyone - it's a matter of taste ...

I love her play. Leonora proposes her understanding of Chopin by her play and a suite of pieces. It's persuasive. I think she has strong (and flexible) heart and soul.

That first waltz is the first Chopin piece I ever played and it made me fall in love with his music. I’m so glad someone played it!
I adore Chopin's waltzes and have a collection of sheet music for his waltzes, preludes, and nocturnes. But that is the first time I've heard that waltz. How did I miss it??

Both ballades and waltz are so rich of nuances, lights and shades, consistency, that put her pianism out of the mainstream: the one of the typists.

Leonora è bravissima! Credo però che qui abbia avuto qualche problema con la Polacca op 53. Nella parte iniziale, in particolare, sembrava non avere tutto "sotto controllo". La mia impressione è che questo brano non si sposi bene col suo stile e con la sua sensibilità musicale.
Sono d'accordo, la ballata in la minore è su un altro livello, forse la migliore che ho sentito fin'ora
Non posso che trovarmi d'accordo! Nonostante la chiarezza nei passaggi mancava qualcosa, ma se il voto finale non 10 parliamo di un 9.9999!

i don't liked the polonaise, but this version is awesome
Certainement parmi les favoris, c'est un grand plaisir de l'écouter. Il y a me semble t-il, moins d'énergie et de conviction dans la quatrième ballade, le début lui fait peur, ça s'entend ! Ou alors c'est le caractère intimiste qu'elle a souhaité donner qui n'aurait pas sa place ici, la main gauche qui accompagne le premier thème est d'une tristesse absolue, sans les appuis sur la deuxième croche qui facilitent aussi le jeu de la main droite, tout ça passe un peu inaperçu. Son contact avec le clavier la place néanmoins parmi les meilleurs.

Can you have too much of a good thing? Apparently. Her playing is very good, that's not the point. But I think the combination with the Fazioli is not a happy one. It adds too much to her already rich tone. I found it a strain on the ears to listen the entire program. Perhaps the Steinway would have suited her better. A bit less please, Chopin is not Liszt.
