LBF522 I agree, they took a strong female character and made her dependent on Clayton Farlow, possibly my least favorite character on the series. She didn't need to be sheltered and protected. She was the rock of that family.

She can stop the fighting if she wins, but can't take away their ownership stakes and place herself in charge. She was not given any special rights to re-organize ownership shares by Jock in his will. Her ownership did not extend beyond the land that was in her family and Jock saved.

Back in the 70's during the oil crisis wealthier gas stations and companies would drop their prices low enough and for long enough to force competition out of business. Usually it was the smaller stations that would fold first, giving the bigger ones more of the pie, until the wealth was more evenly split among the smaller group.

Miss Ellie was a tough lady but why did the show always dress her in what always looks like hospital gowns? She didn’t look like a we’ll to do type at all throughout the whole show. The person who subbed for her one season dressed way more like a wealthy type.
I don't see what the problem was. J.R. is well within his rights to sell his product as cheaply as he sees fit. If other people are losing business as a result, well that's their tough shit.
