DO IT!!! If that's what you want to do of course and that wasn't just joking, lol! If it makes you feel more confident, I had a friend who went to prom in a Renaissance dress. Not Renaissance inspired, like a real costume. How many opportunities are you going to get to do this? :D
You'll have a lot of people calling you Marie Antoinette, and then you'll have to correct them and then it'll be a big mess of historical inaccuracies.
the history of the development of the pocket is interesting to. I love costume history, so fascinating, I studied bits of it when I did my degree in set and costume design at Central in London. Illuminating and fascinating about life and culture.
I truly love how excited Kate got at seeing herself! I love the reveal! This should be a serious channel on T.V. All us nerdy chics can start dishing it out against Top Models and those Kardashians. I would be definitely invested in such a show. Also, I would love to see the brother video of this subject. Do the men!! Do the MEN! WEEEEE!!
Absolutely stunning! I really love the devotion to executing the historic styles so accurately. The artist's voice is so soothing, her talents exquisite, the model so beautiful. My favorite channel on youtube.
I didn't think after being interested and studying fashion history for 22 years I could learn something new! Mouse fur eyebrow wigs, how delightfully bizarre....
Speaking of mice, don't forget about wig cages! Since men and women styled their hair w/animal fat and then powdered white w/starch (flour), mice and rats would often start chewing away thinking they found a tasty snack left out for them overnight.
What I find very enjoyable is the model's humanity behind the trappings of 18th century costume and makeup. As she moves, reacts and speaks, I can see/hear the real women of that day who probably did the same. Today we only see them in portraits, posed, forever motionless, and silent.
It's actually funny that they saw being paler as being more beautiful back then than tanned. It was a sign that you didn't have to spend a lot of time outdoors like farming women had to.
Absolutely beautiful. It's amazing to see people's standards of beauty back then compared to now, and how every little detail had some manner of importance to it.
I love her reaction to seeing herself it was priceless!..I liked the natural brown hair color before you sprayed it with white but by the time you finished her face itmartied well together..great job on her lips..she looked like a porcelain foll..the reveal at the e d was beautiful..she looked like she stepped out of a book!
Would people have to do touch-ups of their makeup throughout the day? And how portable was the makeup?? It's not like they had lipstick tubes or compacts! So interesting, and another amazing video!
Kira Vaughan this is a total guess, so take it with a grain of salt! But tiny pots of makeup were around since Egyptian times, so they totally could have had a “compact”. I’m also guessing your lady’s maid or your host’s maid would have all that at the ready too.
@@screetchycello Thanks for the reminder! I've even seen those pots in museums but totally blanked for some reason on their existance haha. Thank goodness for those voluminous pockets! Now I want to look up historical makeup containers...
It was common for lovers in Versailles to gift their ladies makeup compacts made of gold with special inscriptions, hidden pictures, and precious jewels! There are docs on UA-cam showing some of these amazing compacts!
They had ladies in waiting and ladies' maids to do the porting around of makeup and other items of necessity. They carried nothing but their tiaras and fans.
Thank you for all your work, Liv Free. Every makeup and hairdo you've done is so breathtaking! Please continue in making this style of videos. I took art history major while in college, so this is very fascinating to watch. I'm a big fan!! 🙌🙌🙌
I really like the way this was done. Not the make up, mind you. I actually don't really give two figs about make up in general, but the historical aspect is enough to peak my interest. More than that, it's the quiet narration and voices with no music that really gives this video a subtle and very pleasant ASMR vibe without being pointless. One thing, however, I think it rather obvious that Priors' poem was more satirical than a description of what "fashionable ladies" would actually do.
Omg! That’s so great! Thanks!! I’ll send you our make up from this 2023 Halloween! You were an inspiration! 👌🏻♥️🫶🏻😍did you watched Barry Lyndon by the way? Marisa Berenson? Wow. Like a painting by Watteau 👍🏻♥️Thanks!!!
For a light coat of mascara I like swiping the brush onto a clean spoolie and then using that. It’s still the same feeling of the regular mascara wand, but just way less product on there, and you can ick a shape you want ( a straight, tapered, curved spoolie, etc), depending on what product distribution you want and what feels comfiest. Just for those who want to play along ago home, if the fan brush thing doesn’t work out!
Liv you are such a lovely soul, I love your voice, it gives me peace and tranquillity. And you also have magic hands! It is a beautiful look on a beautiful model :)
There are many things I didn't know about in this video, very cool to learn them! I didn't know about mouse eyebrows, and the fact that the spots were actually patches instead of drawn on and also that they conveyed a message. I've been watching Harlots on Hulu and this reminds of that show. Did they also wear heart shaped blush back then or is that a modern take? I also didn't know they drew on veins, that's a bit macabre and I love it! Thanks!
I loved the little details too! I’m extremely pale (I have a chronic condition that makes being in the sun uncomfortable and sometimes painful and sometimes dangerous, so since about age 11 I’ve been inside whenever possible, even my curtains drawn. The vein thing is right on! They’re not super obvious on my face, legs, and stomach, but they’re really apparent in good lighting! It helps for drawing blood, especially since I have kinda tricky small veins. It’s such a smart idea! Even on a very pale girl like me, the makeup would have covered the veins, so adding them back in my case would increase the realism. For someone who isn’t as pale to begin with it would *really* give it a boost. So clever!
nicole laudenslager It highlighted how pale their skin was, almost translucent. The reason being that pale skin signified that you were rich, and didn’t have to go outside and work in the sun, as you had servants to do that for you. It meant you were nobility.
Beautiful!! Back in those days I wondered how long it took them to get ready! Seems like a lot work I would like to think half the day is gone by than lol
I would like to see you do a black woman period-themed makeover. I really enjoyed your Dido video but would also appreciate seeing a vid maybe about a free black woman from the Americas? I'm sure they had variations in style when given the opportunity.
This is definitely unintentional ASMR, so calming
Anna McCormack
My thoughts exactly~ :)
I keep coming back here, it’s so relaxing....

My favorite kind of ASMR tbh.
just found this and was thinking it's unintentional ASMR from the get go!!
@@NylaVox THANK YOU! I had no idea what it meant!
I should show up to prom like this
DO IT!!! If that's what you want to do of course and that wasn't just joking, lol! If it makes you feel more confident, I had a friend who went to prom in a Renaissance dress. Not Renaissance inspired, like a real costume. How many opportunities are you going to get to do this? :D
Dainty Brighton ya know I do really want to do some historical outfit for prom
Hell yea
I know this is a joke and all, but that is an amazing idea.
You'll have a lot of people calling you Marie Antoinette, and then you'll have to correct them and then it'll be a big mess of historical inaccuracies.
Her freckles are so cute
But completely, it appears, unacceptable by the standards of that era! :-)
The model's immediate reaction of "And it has POCKETS!" is just hilarious - exactly what I would have done hahaha
a girl can never have enough pockets!

i love that kate at the end goes ooh! pretty! but more importantly POCKETS!
The quest is never over! Stay strong in the fight for pockets!
We really should bring these kind of pockets (and big skirts) back. And stays too.
No. Please don't.
I didn't think after being interested and studying fashion history for 22 years I could learn something new! Mouse fur eyebrow wigs, how delightfully bizarre....
The source is a satirical poem, so we should take it with a grain of salt.
I remember a Horrible Histories episode talking about this and the patches but I was sure my memory was playing me tricks until I saw this video.
Uma Pessoa Qualquer I watched that episode today!
Porra tem br aqui. Dahora hehe

Hearts, stars, and horse shoes, clovers and blue moons, pots of gold and rainbows and the red balloon!
That's the Lucky Charms commercial.
Maid: "How pale shall you look today madam?"
18th century lady: "Yes."
Indeed looking rather ravishing this fine day!
“I want to blend in with the snow”

Geisha: yes
Deathly chic please!
The reaction of the thoroughly modern model to her appearance was adorable. 😄 Just loved this. X
I didnt know that they would use the black spots in various shapes to cover blemishes! Very interesting
especially the blemishes that cropped up from covering their faces with lead XD
addie mccloskey and spots from the pox.
And cover the ravages of smallpox scars!
the painting of the veins was amazing, great brush technique on display
Okay, but this is incredible ASMR~
✨🍃🌸🤗🌸🍃✨
This girl has got a beautiful eyes 👍 😍
Right!? They’re gorgeous!
Yes, they matched the color of her wig. Probably hazel???
Looks amazing! The application is pristine. As does the hair.
Always love your studio/channels work!

I love the model! She seems like such a sweet person ❤
Yes🌹🌿🌹
Absolutely beautiful. It's amazing to see people's standards of beauty back then compared to now, and how every little detail had some manner of importance to it.
I'm not huge on regular make up. This style of makeup intrigues me me greatly and I find this video very relaxing
Ah yes
Poisonous lead
All part of beating the face
Literally
What a pretty model; her eyes and freckles are so beautiful.
That dress is stunning. I love the romanticism but that white paint is scary, oy!
Your model is precious! She's pretty, her eyes are beautiful, as well as freckles which also precious! She's adorable!
Her voice is so relaxing. I LOVE this video.
Okay but Kate is honestly such a natural beautiful person.. her face.. so pretty

So interesting and beautiful. Please do many many more - I could watch for hours.
The model has a gorgeous color eyes, the pale makeup really makes them pop
Kate looks lovely as usual. You do great work. More videos please. I would love to see a hair style from about 1843. An evening look perhaps?
This is one of the things that social media is useful fir real and positive to make our life great!🌈

ASMR in a posh accent. Very nice
Wow, historical beauty ASMR.
I'd love to see you recreate some medieval hairstyles. Also I've watched this tutorial series multiple times because they're so calming and relaxing

Very well done. The model is perfect. The precise make up application was wonderful..
Awesome work! I love her freckles so much.
Very stunning and accurate portrayal of a young lady.
Fascinating! I had no idea what these women went through. They were so beautiful and lady-like. I love this, thank you for sharing
Get this makeup artist her own show!
Marvellous! I wouldn't have thought it would suit Kate at the beginning, but she really looked "The Business" by the time you were done!
Her freckles are so cute! She’s so beautiful 💕
STUNNING WORK!!!! ;) THANK YOU VERY MUCH.
Lovely! Would like to see the transformation on an older lady as well.
You did an amazing job. It looks artificial and natural at the same time. It's hard to do that with the eighteenth century styles.
The model is such a sweetheart! So cute and funny 😄
Absolutely loverly!

Glad to live in the 21st century. Lol. Those freckles are perfect!

I'm surprised at how beautiful she is and the fantastical looks.

Annie Idk Asian girls like to be fair but not because they want to show that they had servants to do things for them. I mean it is 2019 right now...
Annie Idk It is more like a cultural thing, just like how nowadays western people would prefer to be tanned
@@ashm2338 Me too. I have the blue veins on the chest already. No blue paint needed!
Learned something new .. did not know they painted veins!!!
I´m positively impress. Great work!
I should really be sleeping, but I regret nothing of the last 5 hrs. Lol binged like crazy.
Extraordinary! Love it!
She is beautiful I love the detail
I want a friend to dress me up and put on makeup for me 😂 historical beauty at that!
