    I have this gen2 solar panel. It’s currently deep in the timber without any direct sunlight, powering my RidgeTec cellular camera. It remains at 100%. I’m so proud that my panel has the name Herd360 on it. Thank you Mike!

    I just ordered mine off of Amazon, along with the moultrie edge, my 1st time using a cellular camera, after watching a few videos on the 1025, I seen it was a no brainer on the money I will save from buying lithium batteries. So I'm anxious to get them in and set them up. Great video, thank you.

    I don't know if you've had others inquire about using full time streaming security cameras with your panel, but I'm trying to work out a solution. I'm using a Unifi Protect G4 Instant camera that is wifi and is powered by USB-C. They say it draws 5W of power and 5V using the USB port. My math says that it would draw roughly 12,000 mAh per day which would have to be on the high side of what your panels would see. I made the mistake of buying one of the clone products (spypoint) that only has a 15,000 mAh battery and no swivel mount so it's hard to dial it in for sun exposure. Even so it ran all day and all night, and then a cloudy day just couldn't keep up and it powered down. I plan to buy the real deal today with an SPP1025 unit and am hoping that the additional battery will help it sustain long term continuous use even with the occasional cloudy day.
    I wondered, however, if it's possible to daisy chain your panels to accomplish even greater capacity. It seems like theoretically it should work, and I'll give it a try but if you have any suggestions I would appreciate it. It would make for a MUCH simpler solution to run these UNIFI cameras if stacking 2 panels would make it happen. If you ever explore a "jumbo" version with maybe 25-30w of solar panel and 40-50 mAh I think it would open up an even broader market for offgrid home security cameras that are better than the toys made by blink, arlo, etc.

    • @herd360
      @herd360  Рік тому

      Unfortunately, while our battery pack is larger, the Spypoint is using our panel, so a camera with the load you describe is probably not going to work out. Once the battery is drained on a cloudy or several cloudy days, I don't believe the 10w panel would be able to replenish the battery while also running the camera. We are exploring other models.

    • @carlrichey1
      @carlrichey1 Рік тому

      @@herd360 Thanks so much for the lightning fast response! What do you think about my "daisy chain" idea with multiple panels? Can the 12V output on one panel provide enough power to charge the battery in a second panel? That would give a combined 20w of solar and deeper battery reserves if it would work..

    • @herd360
      @herd360  Рік тому

      @Carl Richey I would not recommend that. The input charge is 5v not 12v.

    • @carlrichey1
      @carlrichey1 Рік тому

      @@herd360 Ah - I see. USB output is 5V though so wouldn't one panel charge a second panel using the USB output on one and the 5V input on the other? Maybe I'm trying too hard to fit a square peg into a round hole. I see you've shipped the 2 panels that I ordered so I'll mess around with them and report back. Thanks!!

    Hey, just wanted to ask, does Amazon have a beef with you? I ordered another one of your solar panels on July 10th and even though it shows in stock they didn't ship it until yesterday. Your panels don't even show up in a search. I had to have some panels ASAP and ordered 2 of their China knockoffs of yours and they shipped the next day. If they are squelching your products from visibility that's wrong! Love your panels!

      @Herd 360 Not to be nit-picking here but when I received both units they both appeared to be factory sealed but one unit had a clear piece of plastic over the solar panel and the other one didn't, also the one with the clear plastic sheet on the panel is a lot more sensitive to light than the other one. Do you see differences like this from panel to panel. The reason I ask is I want to make sure the less sensitive one is not defective.

    • @herd360
      @herd360  Рік тому

      @buckbuster6213 the green light has nothing to do with sensitivity of the panel. The factory just started adding those protective films. Some in each case have them and some don't.

    Hello I am using the same solar panel together with a reolink security camera. My problem is that the solar panel only charges my camera after I connect the USB connector to the camera. once this camera is fully charged, the solar panel will stop charging and the camera will discharge. the solar panel only charges when I unplug it and plug it back in again. what am I doing wrong? does anything else have to be pressed on the solar pandel?
