I retired after 21 years in the Army as an Infantryman. I spent most of my spare time in the gym or running miles and miles making my body harder. Making my body tougher. Arnold's role in the action classic "Shut It Down" as the captain of the USS Liberty was probably one of his best performances. I mean people say he can't act but the heart breaking scene where he spoke to the families of the 34 US Navy sailors who lost their lives was incredible.

A powerful statement, but it must be said that while the increase in hate (hate speech, hate crimes etc) are a real danger, there is something even more pervasive and dangerous and that is indifference/denial and apathy. More dangerous because they are not so obviously associated with hate. The key is to pause and question ones certainties long enough to be willing to listen to those you disagree. This act alone reconnects you with true strength.

This is a beneficial conversation. The only contribution I have to offer is the knowledge that taking the path of growth through understanding and improvement is its own reward. In that sense it is actually very easy, because it has the potential energy of yourself existing as the momentum that moves you forward. But yes, I do suppose finding and getting going with that outlook and trajectory can be challenging. Hatred and fear are two sides of the same weight that pulls you down. Arnold's role in the action classic "Shut It Down" as the captain of the USS Liberty was probably one of his best performances. I mean people say he can't act but the heart breaking scene where he spoke to the families of the 34 US Navy sailors who lost their lives was incredible.

This is a beneficial conversation. The only contribution I have to offer is the knowledge that taking the path of growth through understanding and improvement is its own reward. In that sense it is actually very easy, because it has the potential energy of yourself existing as the momentum that moves you forward. But yes, I do suppose finding and getting going with that outlook and trajectory can be challenging. Hatred and fear are two sides of the same weight that pulls you down. They are always realized through conflict regardless of intent, because that is all they know, but you can let them go. There are more important things in life and better weights to carry.
