Man, I've watched all of your ACL videos and can say they are the most usefull in youtube of all about this problem! I'm currently in 1st day of week 5 and just started my fist steps with the crutches!! Be healthy!!
Thanks Penchi appreciate the feedback. Week 5 is exciting, hope you are back to walking normal in no time!
Been watching your acl videos as benchmarks for myself! The beginning was so helpful. Tomorrow I’m allowed to put weight on mine (6 weeks) maybe I’ll take a dip in a frozen lake to celebrate. See you at the 7 weeks video
Thank you for sharing your recovery experience, it helps a lot to my recovery. The last moment of caring your kid is what I most look for as well, 16 days post-op here.
Glad you liked it. Best of luck on your recovery
I just completed week 4 after surgery today and went off crutches few days back on day 24 after surgery, knee bending is also becoming better. I do miss my regular life, the things that I could do on my own but have been adjusting and accepting to everything. Now targeting to walk again to be sort of alright for my daughter's first birthday
I kept watching your videos right before surgery and the really kept me in check, especially the first two weeks which are physically and mentally challenging. This week six video is inspirational and I just want to thank you for keeping these that help so many of us cope with the stress post surgery.
Hey glad the videos have been helpful. Good luck and happy birthday to your daughter.
Hello your videos are very motivated for me. Thank you.
Awesome video, I fee you.❤
2 days away from week 4. Bend is past 90, and took my first steps yesterday. Didn't have a meniscus tear like you but you did amazing recovery considering that. Thanks for the motivation brother! Watched all your videos
Awesome glad to hear your doing well! Keep up the hard work!
Good to see how you walk during week 6
Your channel is awesome thanks bro 😎
Thanks FamLopez! Thanks for watching!
Awesome! Day 47 for me. Bending is at 105 and knee extension is -5. Started today going to the pool and using jacuzzi as well to do exercises. Leg feels very firm. Still pretty swollen so trying to work on minimizing that as well.
I’ve really like acupuncture for swelling. I plan to go back for another session this week.
@@Famvestor I’m going to try dry needling in a couple of weeks and see how that goes.
Glad I came across your videos, I was going to go for surgery for my left knee with a torn ACL. Then I injured my right knee tearing my ACL,LCL,MCL leaving only my PCL😭. Doing prehab right now and hoping for surgery on my right knee in 2 months
Oh man that sounds rough. Good luck. You are going to do left knee later?
@@Famvestor just got surgery on my right knee, acl and mcl were operated on plus both my meniscus’s. Pain is tolerable with the medication. What day did they recommend you start doing exercises?
Update: 2 weeks past op, have ditched the crutches. I was driving 1 week post op. Only took pain meds for 3 days
@@chesscaricato4478what is your update? do you do any sport? and did use any heat therapy?
Thanks for the video dude it really helps me a lot I'm from Philippines.. we are in the same problem ACL. I hope that I can recover fast. But my leg is cast so ill wait for 28 days before it removes so i can do ur recommrnded exercises.. once again thank you for the inspirational videos☺️
Best of luck on your recovery
I too had acl + miniscus repair surgery. Today is day 15, still a week to go before I start putting some weight on my left foot. I have to go to college in a month so hoping that I will be able to walk without walker by then
Keep icing and elevating and exercising, good luck!
I also facing same problem but doctor suggested me to take rest for 2 months after that surgery will done in your case also same thing happen
Hi Dear, I had acl reconstruction vs meniscus repair surgery in 8 December 2023 and I want to know when I will be able to drive the car and when I supposed to walk normally, I saw your video and my recovery is same like you as you was at 32 day of your recovery so just please let me know when I supposed to drive. A car
2 weeks till my operation..these videos help..I am anxious. But gotta go through it..lost my cycling season..all about summer 2024 now
Aww man yea I know how you feel. I made a goal for Ironman Cozumel 2025! I could do the cycling now, just worried about the run.
@FamVestor man, I live at the bottom of the Adh climb..I literally am where it's at for cyclists in the summer..riding on the flat on the vtt for next ten days to get quads stronger..then it's another lock down.. but next year I am gonna smash it
Did you make a successful recovery?
@85Bow one year and 2 days since operation..no issues..was back on the road bike August..was climbing mountain cols by September. 30000 metres in 2 months...Still need to get more muscle ..but its coming..mentally exhausting ..but we got there..French health care is very good..
@@themountaingoat21 that’s amazing. I just had surgery a week ago. Gonna be a long road
Love your vids man, I’m 10 days in ACL ( hamstring graft ) + medial meniscus repair, it’s not easy mentally I can’t sit still iv’e started using the recumbent bike with it extended all the way back doing 10-15mins total per day for the last two days ( thanks for that idea ) helps a lot with stiffness.
The surgeon said I can’t put weight on my leg for 6 weeks because of the meniscus it’s driving me crazy haha, surely I’m hopping he lets me at 4 weeks. I’ve been icing and elevating a lot, I’ve noticed the swelling has gone down a lot more not having the brace on all the time I feel like it constricts my leg.
P.s can’t wait to get these stitches out in the next few days so I can use my ice bath :)
If you have any other tips on what I can do now on week 2-6 I’d love your input.
Thanks once again :)
6 weeks sounds rough, I did 4 and that was really mentally challengign. glad to see someone else doing ice baths... I really feel like it helped me through it.
After how many days you was able to lift your leg straight without any help brother ?
Day 4 my surgeon told me I can weight bare and I had my meniscus repaired too, just found out yesterday by my physio doctor that I can weight bare for 4 weeks, kind of pissed.
Ur videos inspiration for me 🤝
I’m glad hope your recovery is going well.
Yes sir thank you 🇮🇳🤝
Bro your surgery is which type BIOSCREW. indobutton..ya.....internal fiberbrace. Pls reply brother
Hi, I have been following up with your ACL recovery videos! Thank you for sharing and all the good tips! Glad you made great progress. I had an ACL reconstruction surgery with three stitches on my outer meniscus 4 weeks ago. I have been going to PT sessions and made some good progress. One thing I notice is that if I sit or lay on the bed with my leg kept straight for an hour or two, it will become stiffish and hard to bend my knee afterwards. It usually takes 3-4 tries to become more smooth and to reach larger angle (for me around 90 degree). Do you have similar experience? Another question I have is that when you walk now without crutches, do you feel tightness around your knee?(the first phase of walking, raising the leg and the foot) I tried to walk without crutches today, definitely feel insecure.
Yea definetly felt insecure at first. But after a week of putting weight on it felt better. But even now almost at week 7. I still have a bit of a limp.
But yes leg can get stiff easy. I’ve been sleeping with my leg bent most nights. And it takes me a while in the morning to get it perfectly straight in the morning. Same is true for bending. And even warming up on the bike. Gotta start with the seat higher up. But as it warms up I can lower it.
@@Famvestor Do you have any insights whether it'd be better to keep the leg straight or bent at night? Maybe switch it up every other night?
Thanks for your videos, they're really helpful!
@@TheElThomaso all I was ever told is to keep it completely straight.
@@Famvestor Sweet, thank you!
HI, I had ACL+mensicus surgery way back before, can I ask you after the surgery did you feel the same? I mean, when you first did the other knee ACL 2 yrs ago, after the surgery, did you feel the injured knee is different than the good knee? Thank you for sharing all of these with us, very motivating to me, appreciate it!
Yes I did feel they were different. I kind of babied my operated knee even two years out and only felt like it was 95% of what it used to be.
@@Famvestor How’s the difference? Do you feel unstable and weak on your operated knee? I feel like my body always try to put more weight on my good knee to try to protect the operated knee. Still feeling unstable and weak on my operated knee, failing to bear weights on my operated knee during the PT. How’s your feeling?
What Graft did you get? I’m getting my acl plus meniscus reconstruction soon and I’m not sure which Graft I’m getting
Hamstring graft
Hey, can you let me know if u have any pain in your knees during winter or snow? Like pain due to cold weather, chronic pain? Please help me out here
Not that I have noticed, but that sound more related to arthritis which chances increase for after a surgery liek this.
Tomorrow my 5th week will start but my leg is not fully straight and i am worried about it .
Try to get it straight. It’s very important to do it early on.
Did you ever have locking or catching in your knee? My son is 6 weeks post op tomorrow and he's getting some locking and catching. He can push past it with discomfort though.
not locking or catching, just clicking.
@@Famvestor thank you. I am going to ask the surgeon about it when we go back.
Bro now I am also rehabilitation proses 3& half week now therapy started now knee bending exercises is so pain now so time petalla side is stuck did you have this type of experience
No didn’t have any issues with patella. Knee cap moved well. But I went to PT 3 days after surgery. You waited 3.5 weeks???
Also I did hamstring graft.
Are you allowed to walk when your meniscus is repaired
I am in 6th week (ACL + Meniscus repair - quad graft). I am still not able to sleep comfortably and also having pain. Having pain after 5 weeks is normal? How many times do we need to do physio exercise per day? While doing exercise sometimes getting locking
I think once per day is fine. You shouldn’t be having pain that prevents you from sleeping. Have you been icing and elevating to take the pressure off?
@@Famvestor I will put icing only whenever I do pysio exercise. During sleep also you do?
I am in my week 6 after surgery. But still not confident enough to walk without the walker. Tell me something positive please
Try to go down to one crutch. And walk like that. And then just walk normally with the crutch at the ready in case you need it. Or just walk next to railing.
Thanks a lot. That was so helpful. I tried and now I can walk by myself. But now smoothly like you. But it's okay. I'm getting better by the grace of Almighty.
Hi.
what is your knee brace model?
Sorry I don’t remember and I gave it to my brother.
When did you start walking
I’m forgetting probably around week 5.
Had ACL+ Meniscal repair. Almost 6 weeks completed and started full weight bearing and started walking. Is swelling of lower leg and ankle normal ? How many days this swelling of lower leg persists once after started walking ?
Hmm I didn’t experience any swelling in the ankle… sounds strange. My knee would swell for many weeks with use.
I have this issue and am curious how this played out for you?
@@gabesmead1925 After 3-4 days of started walking regularly then swelling reduced to normal
When i was started bearing weight in the first days my ankles and feet were really weak. Kinda hurt a little bit so i had to take time till they strengthened.
I also got hamstring graft for my acl surgery but did you experience any hamstring or calf pain? I am on week 2 post surgery and my knee pain has decreased drastically but I have noticed my hamstring and calf have been in so much pain/ soreness
Hmm I wouldn’t say so much pain. But My calf felt like over extended like I had pulled it for the first couple weeks. Honestly it didn’t feel normal till I started walking on it.
No real hamstring pain but I kept getting this weird pain on my quad near my IT band, when I was stretching also went away after I started walking on it.
How many days out where you able to use a stationary bike ?
I think because of my meniscus repair, they wanted me to wait 4 weeks before going on the bike. So I think I went on at week 4 or 5.
@@Famvestor ok ty
Sorry one more do you remember there being soreness in your calf I did a bunch of calf pumps yesterday and mabey that's it I'm on day 4 ?
Im from 🇱🇰 lanka how are you now?
Doing well, ran a half marathon 2 months ago, been playing volleyball. Knee still bothers me on occasion after intense exercise, but even that it starting to fade.
Hloo Brother, How many weeks you take to bend 90 degree....??
I think 2 or 3
@@Famvestor Almost 1 and half month completed but,i can't bend 90 degree..... (Acl + Meniscus )
Iam on weeks 2
Glad to hear it, best of luck on your recovery!
Which surgery u done all inside or bioscrew
Not sure… but I don’t remember hearing bioscrew.
Hey bro I tore my lcl .. my dr is making me wait 7 weeks until I full weight bear . That’s a little long right ?
Not sure about the LCL...
@@Famvestor well it’s my meniscus still but just on the outside .. your videos helped a lot bro! Preciate it !
Youre not doing squats correctly🤔 keep your chest foward and head too. Seems like youre putting weight foward-ish. You should be putting your weigh on your heels
Thanks for the tips
This will help me too. I have been wondering whether i am doing squats the right way. I see a PT after two weeks, so in between i have to UA-cam myself to progress.
