I'm week 4 post acl reconstruction. I got to be honest. A lot of these videos give a false hope. Every one I see people are way ahead of where I am. I wasn't even cleared to put weight on it until yesterday. I'm glad you're recovering well. To everyone else, recover at the pace your doctor and therapist work out. Don't get discouraged.
Charlie sorry to hear you've been having a hard time of it, not sure if you watched my week-4 video but I was right there with you, I was onyl allowed to put 20% weight on my operated knee untill the doctor cleared me at week 5. And this was completely different from my right knee ACL surgery I did 2 years ago, where I was able to immediately weight bare right after surgery. Yea everyone has their own journey, wishing you the best on yours.
I am allowed to put full weight only in my seventh week, my range of motion stuck at 90 degrees by then. My doctor expected a full range of motion by then and I started to push very hard. My ROM has since improved from 90 to 125 along with very painful rehab stretching and stationary bike. You may not see hope for now but the improvement is meant to be exponential after a certain time.
@@zakiqalbi2182 not sure if you want just anyone to answer. For my first 2 weeks after acl surgery (and meniscus repair) there was a lot of gentle stretching and propping the leg up. I was constantly foot pumping because my foot felt like it was tingling. It was hard to get the compression sock on, take a shower, and so on, but for me personally, the meds reeeally helped me sleep all day and night. Having people over to just hang out really distracted me in a good way. I highly recommend it. One scary thing is my gasping in pain in the middle of the night. Dont let it freak you out. Get a good support system around you. Have people that care about you sleep over and bring you ice. Icing helps a lot. It’ll be fine :-)
I'm at 12 weeks now and I can't express how grateful I am to you for posting your recovery journey and I had similar, down to earth progress like you did. It was helpful as some of the videos online show rapid progress which is difficult to follow or at times watch without getting more upset. Your video after six weeks was the best of them all, the most emotional one for me as I was struggling to walk properly at that time and that video kept me motivated. As I am one more day from exactly 12 weeks since surgery, I've had a chance to walk on the sand and go near the sea, carry and walk with my daughter as she starts walking. Thanks for the massive impact that you've made in my recovery journey!

3 months is a major milestone. By then, ligamentization process is almost to finished. Your hamstring tendon has now hopefully became a ligament. Congratz, you now have functioning acl again. Time to focus on more serious, functional rehab 😊
I was mentally devastated when it happened but the recovery is going fantastic for me imo. I'm just 2 days post 4 week, got full extension and flexion within week 2.I watched your videos pre surgery and was freaking out but honestly gave me a lot of hope. Now my only goal is to get back to powerlifting again so that I can delay PTOA as much as possible.

Tore my right acl years ago-now have torn my left acl and meniscus with the surgery in one week. These videos have been so great! Hoping it’s easier to manage knowing what recovery was like the first time as well.

Thanks for the videos. I'm just past month 2 of recovery from partial ACL and meniscus repair. It's a long journey that can test your patience but glad to see you're back now (saw your 6 month video also). It's helpful to see other people's recovery process. I'm hoping I can be back working my construction job by month 5. Definitely a process!
Thanks for sharing all this! I am currently 13 weeks post op. My range of motion is pretty much full at this point and I can sit on my heels with a little warmup, but I’m struggling more on the strength side of things as well as with swelling and building endurance. I hope to start jogging and hopping soon!
Thanks for the update I’m 4 weeks post acl / menicus and I having a hard time getting my quad to contract and getting any bend with knee slides …. I’m getting discouraged but taking one physical therapy session and day at a time
I’m 11 days post ACL + Meniscus surgery. First 6 days was brutal due to fluid build up, but had it drained on day 7. Now it’s WAY better, doing exercises twice a day, but still can’t do much with my leg. Looking forward walking, I know it’s still home away, but it’s going ti be amazing.
No running yet I'm only on week 10. Lot's of biking on the hometrainer (it's getting cold outside). Docter said running for me is at 4 months. Looking forward to it!

Great video.. I hope you are 100% recover now. I am in week 13 of my acl recovery. I can do most of the excersices but I still walk uncomfortably thats why slowly. When I keep sitting for a while or wake up in the morning, I feel very unstable and sometimes pain occurs, which worries me.. Did you feel the same that time ??
I am currently on 11 weeks after acl surgery and lateral meniscectomy, my progress is similar to you and honestly speaking there are many videos on UA-cam which gives false hope and unrealistic progress in a limited time period but your videos i find is the only one which gave some accurate progress according to the time period. But now i do feel pain a lot in front of my knees after sitting for a long time on a chair with knees bent like a normal leg, is it same for you?
You mentioned in your video that you still had stiffness/tightness in the area below your kneecap. Is that all better now? I’m 3 months post, still have that tightness there and gets worse when walking.

I’m just coming up on my 3 month from ACL and meniscus surgery. At your 3 month how was the pain at your knee doing flexión. I see in this video that when you would lay on your belly it looked easy to do so and bend past 90 easily. Were you feeling any pain there ?

I am extremely saddened with the fact that it's been three months since my acl surgery and my bending is stuck at 110-115 degrees there is still a bit of swelling and extremely uncomfortable and painful while bending, I am seeing no progress 😢

It should be pretty stable for walking by now. Do you have crutches? I walked with two crutches and no brace. The. One crutch. And then very carefully with no crutches. I think you just have to go for it, maybe have a friend by your side for support just in case.

Yes it was very hard for me to get my knee completely straight, I had to really work on activating my Vastis Medialis on my quad. Took a lot of time. And yes pain the back of knee especially when walking on my heels. Took a lot of time to go away. A lot of step downs exercises.

Are you feeling maybe scar tissue? Does you knee cap move freely? I remember a weird sensation towards the back of my knee where my hamstring maybe have been removed. And felt it very noticeably when doing the mountain climber exercise.

Yes I’ve been fighting this back of the knee pain for some months now whenever my leg is straight and flexed. It’s finally easing now after focusing on it in PT and Acupuncture.
@@Famvestor My ACL surgery will be clean for 3 months but the top part of my knee feels loose, after lifting the knee a little, it seems that it is not firm enough then it is normal or not
Everything was fine but you should never do exercises and workouts next to a infant, that too when you are injured, take care and never repeat the mistake

Im there, too. I wasnt able to work past 90 and bear any weight until week 6 due to my meniscus tear. Now im just at 94 degrees and 6 degrees

Yea I agree go back to your doctor he might aspirate, drain the swelling from your knee… my doctor had to do that twice!

I did it for the first 4 months.

Even two years out. I wouldn’t say I’m at full strength. Maybe 95%. But after the first year I was at like 85%.

You should be able to start trying from day 2. Up to 90 degrees for the first month. And then my doctor let me go past 90 after the first month.
Everything was fine but you should never do exercises and workouts next to a infant, that too when you are injured, take care and never repeat the mistake
