I was originally taught to put this on top of cornbread, but my preferred method is to put it on top of cooked egg noodles. I boil the noodles, then drain them. Then, I add a little bit of olive oil and Italian seasoning to the noodles and put them on the plate, then put the sausage and pepper mixture on top.
Classic and love’em. Common in NYC but ever since the lockdowns and price increases, I just learned to make it myself. $3.99 for 4 sausages, $2-4 for bell peppers. $0.50 per onion. $5 for 3 foot Italian bread. Makes about 4 single served sausage and pepper heros 😋 at roughly $4 each. Outside it costs $10 and during the summer street festival and San Gennaro festival, it was a ridiculous $14. Never again.
Nicole. You are so cute that everything matches on you You explain each recipe so relax, neat and short , thats the way how suppose to be. You are the best of all on All recipe webside.
Love it, love it, loooooove it! I’ve got Italian sausage in my freezer I was going to save for the 4th. After watching this video, they may not make it.
Wouldn't you take off the sausage casing? I know the sausage wouldn't stay in the right shape, but I've only used Italian sausage in lasagna, so always removed the casing.
Sooo wish magic was real. I would seriously reach thru the screen and snatch that sandwich right from you. I too prefer cutting up the sausage. I hate that now I think I'm gonna change my dinner menu to sausage with peppers and onion sandwich. DEEE-LICIOUS damn it!! Thanks so much for sharing. Arlene
What? You are Italian? Live in Alabama? I remember visiting my Aunt Joanie in Columbus, Georgia where Uncle Larry was an exec in some company. My sister had to show a cash registrar her NY drivers license with her name Pagano. “ Are you I- talian? I am I-talian , too!” in a heavy Southern accent that we weren’t use too.
Never heard of mustard on peasant stew. Also I toss mine over pasta with some fresh Parmesan. My recipe was from an Italian girl I was working with in downtown Chicago. She called it peasant stew. I’ve been making this for 30 years now. We love it ❤
I like that your videos are short and to the point; no added unnecessary words.
10000%
Cover your hair when cooking 😂
Exactly the way I make sausage and peppers! And fennel forward Italian sausage is the best. Love your videos Nicole! ❤️

Looks lovely. I would have opted for some red wine. Thank you for sharing.
Nice recipe. I steam mine first before browning. And I steam them in beer.
That sandwich looks good. I’d pull out some of the breading on the inside to make room for more sausage and peppers filling.❤
Omg Stephie this is my favorite sandwich of all time 😋😋😋
Yummy i used yellow bell pepper, whole garlic and cut it myself i butter garlic or olive the bread in the oven.
I'm going to make this tonight. thank you

Perfection!
I like mine with Mainara sauce added
OMG - don’t know what part of Italy your family came from but I would be disowned if I ever put mustard on sausage and peppers😢
Looks delicious

No. You eat the casing. If you take it off it loses the nice snappy texture
Red pepper flakes in the pan (need some heat)...and then drizzle a little Ital dressing and parm on the sammie. Mustard does sound good though.
I'm from bham what store carries your sausage 👀
This is tomorrow's dinner

Little garlic would be nice
Delishioso!!! Chefs kiss
Why you cut your sausages into bite sized piece? The authentic way is to cook them intact
I wanted to hear how many minutes each step I need a little more helpp haha
mingotz it's a sin to put mustard on it.
Not in Chicago.
I'll go to policanos
