    This is exactly how I make my sausage, peppers, and onions but with one difference: after I cook mine for about 2 hours and stir, I lower the oven temperature and bake it for another 1-1/2 to 2 hours. I also like to serve it on fresh store-baked sub rolls with sharp sliced provolone cheese.

    If I use turkey sausage , will that cook as easy as regular sausage or does it need to be cooked a bit in a pan beforehand?

      Hi there... Because of the long cook time. I would say cook it the same way. It will cook through. Don't forget to turn a few times so it browns a bit near the end of the cooking process. Let me know how you liked it!!

    Oven? That looks much easier than my Mama"s recipe .😂 She also used large cans of Hunts tomato sauce. She would always
    boil hot and mild sausages in water then drain, rinse & brown in olive oil.A
    Saute 2-4 large sliced yellow onions & 3-6 green peppers, add sauce. Use a large skillet or stock pot with lid.
    I parboil my sausages in a cup or 1/2 c water with lid on.Remove lid- water will evaporate or you can drain what's left. Dab with paper towel in tongs to remove excess moisture. Add olive oil, saute yellow onions and green & multicolor peppers. I do heavily season my sauce with fresh minced garlic. powder or salt Italian seasoning, oregano, ground pepper,
    celery salt, red pepper flakes. Sometimes, I also mix it up & add 1-2 tsp of crushed fennel (between two spoons). A few dry bay leaves (be careful to fish them out after simmering an hour or two with lid on. Stir frequently. I buy good french or Italian rolls or a few long loaves I divide up, split open & smear both sides with softened room temp butter then too each with garlic salt. Bake 350 5 to 10 mins on Convection setting then carefully broil for a few mins until golden brown. Watch them so you don't burn your buns! !😂) Top hot garlic buns with sausage and pepper sauce top with grated Parm/Romano or mozzarella &: hot peppers oil. It's a messy, delicious fork and knife family favorite!😂😂❤❤ .

      Hi there! Thanks so very much!!! I use foil because that dish doesn’t have a cover.

    In your video you state to cook in oven at 400 degrees, but in your written recipe, it says 375 degrees...does it matter which?

      That’s what my Grandmother always used in this recipe. It’s essentially just puréed tomatoes. It’s really a wonderful recipe. Give it a try. Use the puréed tomatoes of your choice. 🍅🍅🍅

      I use a lot of pepper and I always say season to taste. However, the scenes are cut down for editing purposes so maybe all the pepper was not shown on screen. Anyhow.. Thank you for watching!

    Jeez...2 1/2 hours in the oven at 400F.....criminal waste! I cook my Thanksgiving turkey in about that time.....a simple dish that cooks in less than 30 mins on a stove!!!!

      Hi John! Thanks so much for your comment. You can do 375-400 and it does really take that long because I am making a big batch! The cooking time works perfectly in this case. The sauce is delicious and rich, the peppers perfect and the sausage golden brown. After you remove the foil you can stir and brown for a little more cooking time. I promise you are going to love it!       @@UhadmeatKitchen Thanks for the response but as I said peppers and sausage is a simple dish that cooks within 30 mins on a gas stove and is super yummy! wasting energy for cooking such a simple dish for 2 1/2 hours in the oven is definitely the lazy way of cooking but just a criminal waste!

      You know I agree with you I was thinking that as well ,but I was also thinking if it sits in the oven for almost 5 hours how much more better it would be ? tasty lol everything tastes better that’s marinated lol

      @@JohnDoe-pe6iu there are a few variations for sure but this one takes 2 1/2 hours and it’s a one dish meal that is spectacular! That’s how Mama Mary did it and I carry on her delicious tradition!

    She’s contradicted herself . She doesn’t like hot sausage, yet she uses it ... way too many peppers .

      Oh no I ❤️ hot sausage! I love things spicy.... I said people can use hot or sweet sausage in the dish. Also, if you want to use less peppers in the recipe you can certainly do so! That’s the great thing about cooking you can put your own twist on a recipe and make it your own. I just happened to love lots of peppers! I hope you enjoy my recipe! Cheers!
