This game is perfectly summed up by the fact there's an adorable character travelling on your ship who is constantly asking for books yet there's no way to give her any of the 1000's of books you find lying around on your travels.
You can even find the exact books she asks for and can't give them to her, and she has a twin from another mother...and father in another quest line heh.
Yep. brought sarah to the second artifact after hearing how exciting it is for her. touch the artifact and everything, hoping to getting a response from sarah but nope. just the standard bog convo list like before.
succeded to convince sam's dad by only persuasion, hoping sam will recognize my abilty or praise or say "wow how did you manage to convince my stubborn dad". nope just the standard bog response to carry on the quest.
everything just feel half baked.
That's a pretty weird way to quantify a game's quality but yeah alright

I was NOT ready for such a great parody song. The life on mars parody was so good that I was watching on my TV, got up, logged into my pc, and opened youtube to find this video to tell you. Well done!
I'm so excited for when Starfield comes out of early access in 3 or 4 years once the unpaid modding team has had their hands on it.
lol
I would like to hope so, but considering I've heard barely anyone talking about Fallout 4's modding scene, I ain't holding my breath.
Wow.
@@devon00789 There is still a big scene even if you haven't heard anything recently. 100+ mods have been released since last week per Nexus mod which is still quite decent for an 8 year old game. The subreddit for Fallout mods is still in the 1% of top Reddit communities. Sure, it's not as busy as it is in its peak and with Starfield just released, modders have migrated to that but there are still big projects underway for Fallout 4.
That's the strategy. It worked for cdpr.
“It’s everything you want and at every point they try to make it as annoying for you as possible” sums it up perfectly.
I was so annoyed and simultaneously bored that I gave up after 8 hours.
I originally thought I'd come back in a few years with lots of mods, but now I couldn't care less
Fortunately, I'm not so precious and fragile that everything has to work perfectly easily for me or exactly the way I expect at all times in a video game. There's plenty there to enjoy if you aren't so negative and childish that you're just looking for reasons to be annoyed.
@@TB-wvvvw you’re a big big boy such sophistication good stuff thanks for the comment
@@Entropic_Meat_Machine I had nothing but fun playing Skyrim and all of the Fallouts, and Starfield has been a very smooth and enjoyable experience for me at 4K. It's beautiful and runs great all the time on my AMD based hardware. I've never needed mods for any of the Bethesda games to enjoy them, though I added some mods in Skyrim the third time I played it just for fun. I'm not really tempted to add mods for Starfield because I like the way they made it. I don't know why you had so much trouble (assuming you've actually played the game) unless you're trying to play on very weak hardware, which wouldn't work regardless of the company that made it as these games are demanding. I don't have any special reason to favor Bethesda games except that I've honestly enjoyed them very much over the years and appreciate when other people skillfully make things I enjoy in life. I'm not a child trying to impress people by criticizing things I could never make myself. I'm a software developer in a different industry and know what hard work it would take to make those amazing games.

It’s so funny to hear the Outer Wilds theme play in this video! For those who don’t know, Outer Wilds is an actually good space exploration game

When the Outer Wilds music kicked in around 7:43 I immediately thought of the bit in Harry Potter "How dare you stand where he stood".
Exactly! One of those games does its best celebrating the great mysteries of the universe, the beauty of it and the horrors; the insatiable curiosity of sapient life.
And the other is a heap of purile Toddslop that manages to make even it's more laudible hard sci-fi roots into an excuse for recycled content and unimaginative designs.
"It takes longer to sit in the driver's seat of your ship, than it does to drive your ship, across the universe." Spoke the most to me 🤧🤧
Shelby's rendition of "Life on Mars" is impeccable
It's definitely my favorite performance of hers. More Bowie parodies!

i only know this song because of Jessica Lange singing it in american horror story :^)
Real, I was so busy jamming I couldn't even stop to laugh
For real! It's a work of genius, no lie
You took a lot of (deserved) shots at the game, but playing the Outer Wilds theme was the best one.
Yeah that almost crossed into cruel lol
I was excited when I heard it. Makes me want to play Outer Wilds again. What a great space exploration game
I’m unsure if it’s cruel to Starfield or a slight to Outer Wilds to even show up over a video of starfield. Probably both, but that is the MUSIC OF THE SPHERES you’re messing with. Do not besmirch it.
An actual good space game
@@IndustrialQueue I'm leaning on 'cruel' to Starfield. I don't know if it was intentional, but through that whole section of the review, I thought "Wow, I'd rather play Outer Wilds than this shallow, broken piece of overhyped, outdated designed piece of crap game." To me, it was a reminder that great games don't have to come with outrageous budgets. Budgets that serve the end product so superficially, like in graphics alone. Without a soul, the experience is hollow.
I watched a fascinating video about Nintendo's meticulous design philosophy for Tears of the Kingdom's open world to make sure it was engaging, interesting, and that players wouldn't just run in a straight line. They figured out how to make it so that you would discover things that you were interested in by yourself, but how those discoveries were actually in a planned out graph to move you towards the important story locations.
Bethesda on the other hand just spent the last 5 years procedurally generating terrain and saying "Yeah, that looks good enough I guess. Not that I have to worry that anyone's going to see it, because they're going to bee-line towards this one quest."
Its amazing that we treat Bethesda with the same kiddie gloves we use on single-developer indie studios, despite how much money and former talent they're sitting on.
Was it a GMTK video?
2 points, lies of Tod is your best song yet and that is an achievement in itself. Also huge appreciation to the small things Matt includes like Norman Reedus whistling poorly 😂 Love you guys

The lack of vehicles for planet traversal is such a travesty. A little buggy with bouncy physics would have been great fun and made those large areas fun to explore, as you have to find pathways through the environment.

@@tankbeast8480 i dont exactly follow ur logic. That song I'm talking about was a song that is specifically in the Outer Wilds OST, performed by Andrew Prahlow. Why are you saying it wasn't made for Outer Wilds?
I honestly had the most fun with the ship builder and ground combat. I just wish all the best ship parts weren’t arbitrarily locked behind perks. I don’t regret my time with the game, but it’s gotta say something that I was immediately having more fun getting back into Cyberpunk for the 2.0 update, even though I did a full playthrough less than a year ago. Baldur’s Gate 3 is still my top contender for GOTY.
the ship builder is by far the best part of the game, if only there was actually more to do with your ship in the game...
I'm in the same boat. Spent 60 hours mostly making ships or saving money for parts. The combat is fun, but feels very retro. Once Cyberpunk 2.0 came out I haven't launched Starfield, even though I finished the whole game when it came out- and by that I mean getting all the endings, achievements, gigs, side quests etc. And yet the roughly 50 hours I put into the expansion were FAR more engaging than Starfield.
Literally my exact thoughts. Got Starfield on 6th of September, about two weeks later Cyberpunk’s 2.0 patch came out and a week later they released Phantom Liberty. I never looked back….
The shoe squeak at 2:07 was a nice touch
Shelby doing a life on mars cover made me a lot more giddy than I expected.
If war never changes than I want girlfriend reviews to never change either. They just get better and better
So they changed?
if they get better they must be changing. they'd be exactly the same quality every time if they never change. unless... what never changes _IS_ that they keep improving
Them harmonies tho lmao love when she sings
I'll never forget the part where you help fix the eye. You go to Sarah and help her fix some stuff with a socket wrench. You'd think, any modern game would have you pick up the tool, and an animation would occur when you interact with the object. You'd see the character "fix" something. Well not this "Next Gen" game Starfield. You interact with whatever it is you're repairing. And a text box pops up saying, "you repaired the panel". A freaking Text Box in a Triple A, Next Gen Xbox exclusive thats come out in 2023. And its not the only time it happens either.
It truly is the "next generation role-playing game set amongst the stars"
I liked the text boxes, they give a Old RPG / DnD / Morrowind kind of vibe, I wished they used these a bit more often.

What she didn't explain about that fast travel section is that you can level all the powers to level 10. Meaning you have to do all that boring ass temple traveling 240 times.
And since they're tied to new game plus, there's no point in doing anything else in between because it gets wiped every 24 temples so you have to do them all in a row.
