Yep, I loved this game and would really recommend it to any Star Wars fan. But yeah all the criticisms of it being uninventive are pretty accurate. It takes all these aspects from other games and does them all just good enough that they work but not good enough that it stands out on it's own.
This is actually a phenomenon known as "Cute Aggression". You see, cute things remind us of babies, which our brains have conditioned us to want to take care of, usually in physical expressions such as holding and comforting. However when we are somehow prevented from being able to physically interact with the object of cuteness, our brains essentially misinterpret this as if something is preventing us from being near the baby, which we've evolved to interpret as if the baby is being taken or threatened in some way. Thus as an unconscious side-effect of our hormones pumping, our aggression receptors actually also get pumped up and we subconsciously want to take it out on something, which may often end up being the cute thing itself because all of the hormones just get mixed together and confused. Because we now have a lot of ways wherein we can see something cute, but cannot physically interact with it, we often experience Cute Aggression on occasion.
I was about to call her out for saying "best Star Wars game in a decade" because Force Unleashed but then I looked it up and holy shit that game is 11 years old
@@mikesannitti6042 but is it doe? Unleashed is a platformer with poor man's God of War (GoW 1-3) combat system, Fallen Order is a platformer with poor man's Sekiro combat system. Mike Sannitti combat is not deeper for sure. Fallen order is just slower and more precise, while unleashed is fast paced with o lot more combos and force abilities. I think every time I booted up Fallen Order I ran into at least a bug or two or the game would crash at some point and I would have to reboot it. She's right though a lot of people are applauding this game cuz it's the best Star Wars game in awhile but at it's core it's a buggy mix of Uncharted and Sekiro gameplay.

How come no review mentioned those bugs holy crap. Makes you knock the score down a few pegs.
This is the most bug filled game I've played in years, I still like the game though! Completed it the first week, started it again on Grand master a couple of days ago and there's still a crazy amount of bugs

Either way, this was a fantastic, honest review! Subscribed!
It's definitely been fixed since GFReviews played it. I went back to it a couple of weeks ago and I think I only encountered one or two small glitches. Normally, patching a game isn't something to applaud, but this is EA so it's a big deal when they actually spend time and money to go back to fix something lol. I CAN NOT WAIT until the sequel comes out in March (until the inevitable delay announcement comes and it gets pushed back to June). As long as the story is good and they've improved the areas where Fallen Order was lacking (force powers, customizations, PONCHO'S, etc...) it's got huge potential.
Same, and I actually play all the games this one is borrowing from. I loved it. Played it last year and there was only one area that glitched on me. I went up an elevator. Could hear sound effects of a battle going on but it was completely empty. I ran around confused in this empty place that apparently had a war going on and slowly storm troopers loaded in. "Oh?" I said. Then wookies. "Whaaaatttt...". Then a freaking AT-AT. The game had put me up there before anything else was properly loaded in. It was a wonderfully, confusing, out of body experience.

Shit like that is why I kinda hate Star Wars as a franchise. No one would care for the prequels if they weren’t Star Wars and I get the feeling the same is true for Episodes 8-9.
@Dan Fallen Order is still better than dark souls 2 (but not better than the rest of soulsborne games), and Fallen Order at least is a ok game, even though it is a lump of games with a splash of Star Wars, even though it is but a mere ant compared to KOTOR 1 and 2. Plus, Fallen Order proved to EA(Evil Assholes) that we want god damn single player shit, and on top of that Fallen Order wasn’t done for the money to a extent, since EA and Disney both kept trying to halt the project, but Respawn still was able to release a fun game, even if it isn’t anything to write home about. So I hope you enjoy gripping over the best Star Wars game in a while, since the good ones all got cancelled, and we have to wait a while for the next ones.
@Meh , yes the prequels aren’t that good, but Revenge of the Sith was ok, and duel of the fates was badass, and the clone wars show came from it, making Obi Wan and Anakin’s relationship have more of a meaning, and also, you are way off of 8 and 9. 8 and 9 are far more vile, and just downright unlikeable, the characters are bad, and unlikeable, the plot is shit, the idea of Palpatine even being alive is bad, making Vader’s death meaningless, and rippingI can go on and on about how much worse they are than the prequels, and how glorified you make them look.
@@jarrarwinks8470 I haven’t watched 8 and 9 yet, I’m about to watch them (just re-watched 7). I’ve been seeing so many references to them lately that I figured I needed to watch them.
My comment was actually more for the state of Star Wars in general. I feel this video perfectly encapsulates the quality spiral the series has traveled down (for years now). But that's a larger deeper reflection. I come here to enjoy the ever awesome humor. :)
This is late, but I feel the response “I’m sorry I couldn’t give it to you sooner” is sorely slept on. It’s an excellent comeback, and personally fits based on my own feelings on the game. I loved the game honestly.

6:48 the poncho collection is disappointing af. I remember when in kotor and kotor 2 or even swtor mmo you had a lot of different and beautiful costumes to choose from. This? This is just horse s**t tbf
I love Fallen Order and I'll admit that the collectables SUCKED. Really the only cosmetic items I actually liked were the kyber crystals (because who doesn't want to change their lightsaber crystal) and the New Game + Inquisitor outfit, because at least THAT was different and looked cool.
@@TheAwkwardGamer kybers are cool but it isnt anything new. i know im reapting myself but kotor had the same thing. even better bc crystals gave you better stats in kotor 1 & 2
The only thing I disliked about the game was the buggy climbing, places where you think you can jump but in reality you missed the point by a few inches.
Games don’t need a button to make you grab anymore or honestly ever. If my character is dumb enough to not grab something and fall to their death then they’re too stupid to be the protagonist.
Also all the jumps in the beginning that are JUST out of reach is insanely frustrating and only made worse when you realize sprinting then jumping doesn’t add to the distance jumped.
Just finished this game on Grandmaster in one week (34 hours, found every collectible). Only got a real glitch once after dipping my toe into New Journey +, likely fixed up via patches. If you can get this game for $30 or less and like Star Wars or From Soft, go for it. I would love to see some of those Giant Leaps implemented in a sequel, but yeah. This game is far from fantastic, one of my biggest issues is there are only about 5 actual bosses that aren’t just nastier regular enemies.
This is what I love about Girlfriend reviews, even for a person like me who doesn't know anything about the history of games or history of star wars games in general, they tell you everything in the beginning clearly and entertaining and set you right for the video. That's not the point. The point is that her "character" shouldn't know that. The videos are of a girl who spectates her boyfriend playing games and comments on it in funny ways while knowing nothing about games.
We know her Boyfriend actually makes these videos but that's not a part of the fiction. In order to be consistent, the video should have had her be giddy at everything because it all looks so good rather than calling it out because her character doesn't know it
@@FraserSouris It really isn't that important :)

@tincho It's not inherently a bad thing, no. It's just that they only copy those things well enough to either imitate them or do them slightly worse.
@tincho It's a safe thing. The grey side of the force.
@tincho it wouldn't be a bad thing if they improved upon those formulae in any way... I'd rather go play any of the games that this game borrows from rather than this game.
@@kyleweir689 Improving upon a formula would mean that you'd bother centering the game around these mechanics in the first place.
The only real mechanic it really needs to improve upon is the exploration and the combat. The Metroidvania traversal doesn't need anymore shit tacked on.

I had a blast with the game and ran into virtually none of the issues they experienced. I got stuck against a wall in an infinite fall once and that sucked, but that's the only time something like it happened.
The game doesn't do anything "new" but to me that's like dismissing every FPS in the last 15ish years for not doing anything new. This game combines a lot of concepts I enjoy into a single game with a story I found compelling.
Hopefully you have a similar experience. Cheers

"tHiS OnE ReMiNdS mE oF BoBbA FeTt!" - The Starwars fanbase.

This is quickly becoming my favorite review channel. The Darth Vader “what” scenes were killing me!
@@Mocityspirit but you are the protagonist... Or at least their motor function part of their brain
It gives me nostalgia, that shit happened all the bit in the 8 and 16 bit era
They did the same thing in Doom Eternal too. It's slightly subjective. You're being given more control. I didn't mind it once I got the hang of it
Just finished this game on Grandmaster in one week (34 hours, found every collectible).
The Vader "What!" got me every time
4:32 I’m sorry, that insert of the fresh prince intro was just too perfect 🤣🤣
