    It's some hot garbage characters are now living from a wound Qui-Gon died from. Eliminates stakes from a lightsaber duel unless they go Highlander mode and behead their opponents.

    I remember myself sitting totally excited and uncalm in my chair in the cinema, feeling Qui-Gons Death coming. This duel shooked me so much like almost nothing before but the duel between Obi-Wan and Vader on the deathstar where you could have felt Obi-Wans near death exactely the same like I mentioned before on Qui-Gons death. You can really say that the circle completed. Both is pure Star Wars!!!

    Qui-Gon's age was "a" factor, but not *the* factor that's it's so often made out to be. Dooku was decades older, yet still defeated both Obi-Wan and Anakin, and fought grandmaster Yoda to a stalemate. Why? His choice of lightsaber forms (i.e. Form 2).

    • @kevinm.gonzalezd.1168

      Yeah, I thought about that too. Dooku was like 100 years old and was a force of nature.

      In LEGENDS, Dooku was proficient in trashtalking (i.e dunmock). He constantly taunted Anakin which unleashed his mindless anger (Ep III). Then Skywalker fully deployed his Form V Djem So which ultimately defeated Dooku. Form II lacks momentum in clutch moments as it emphasizes defense, precision and footwork. Form V agression and domination.

    What's even more impressive was Maul was not even an actual Sith, merely an assasin and the true power of the dark side was kept hidden by Plageuis and Sidious.

      It's a complicated situation. Plagueis (the reigning Sith Master) did NOT consider Maul a true Sith Lord. He only wanted Sidious to train Maul as a Sith assassin. It was Sidious that granted Maul the title of "Darth" behind Plagueis' back! I have a video explaining the entire situation: ua-cam.com/video/5_yuaEvNFkI/v-deo.html

    Qui-Gon aged so he could not use Ataru efficiently as Form IV was extremely tiring. It required wide space and acrobatic maneuvers. Its flaws were lack of defense and lack of effectiveness in tiny room.
    Maul and Kenobi would meet several times in S5 of The Clone Wars and in the series Rebels (CANON).
    Ep I novelization is considered LEGENDS since Disney purchased Lucasfilms.

    In Legends they were near equals with a blade in most sources with Maul being slightly superior like Qui Gon being a high seven saber user and Maul being a low eight saber fighter with the force Maul was also only slightly above Jinn yeah and way above Jinn with physical abilities and unarmed combat yeah.

    Can't believe that it's been 25 years., boy how times flies. I remember The Phantom Menace coming out in theaters after I graduated from 5th grade. I didn't like Jar Jar Binks, but I loved the Podracing and the Duel of the Fates scenes. In the Legends book Darth Plagues, Palpatine was afraid of Qui-Gon discovering his identity and ruining his plans to destroy the Jedi. So, Palpatine sent Darth Maul to Naboo not to just capture the Padme Amidala, but to kill Qui-Gon-Jinn and prevent them from. I think that the real reason that Qui-Gon continued to fight Darth Maul alone was, because he wanted to end the battle as quickly as possible. Qui-Gon knew that he would end up getting killed, when he saw the laser walls close between him and Darth Maull. I'm sure Qui-Gon felt bad about leaving Obi-Wan behind like that. However, he knew that his young apprentice would defeat the Sith apprentice, no matter the cost. Maybe at the beginning of the battle, Qui-Gon had already planned for Obi-Wan to train Anakin with knowing that he wasn't going to survive the fight. The music in the background was great, it reminds me of one the comic dubs of Age of Republic: Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan.

    Darth Maul wasn't only in his prime but he was even younger than Obi-Wan. He was 2 to 4 years younger than Obi-Wan. Obi-Wan was 25 during the time in TPM and Maul was at least 21 to 23. That isn't prime. Obi-Wan just entered what is considered prime during the time biologically human wise.

    Having a video focus on Qui-Gon Jin, made me think of something I don't think I have ever heard about in a video; could "the Chosen One" have brought balance to the Force, if Qui-Gon had survived? People love to talk about how Qui-Gon was the ideal individual to train Anakin; the one the Force might have picked, while Kenobi had any of a laundry list of reasons why he was actually a really bad choice, but something I like to feel many fans don't acknowledge is that, for the Force to be brought back into balance, BOTH sides needed to be cleared, or at least altered. A fully trained Jedi Anakin Skywalker shanking Chancellor Palpatine to death wasn't what the prophecy foretold, and the Jedi weren't it on their own. Sure, there might've been other ways to reshape them than Order 66, or the Youngling-Slayer 9000, or Darth Vader killing them all, but many of them were wrong, and weren't likely to just acknowledge that, and totally rebuild their base, in the Force, and galaxy; hypocrits specialize in not seeing their own shortcomings. I certainly think QG could have done an amazing job as Anakin's teacher, but if Anakin hadn't wielded both the Dark AND the Light, and been able to be near Sidious, could he have actually balanced it? Were he, and QG, somehow going to arrive at a new way that all the Jedi would magically accept, and adopt, especially without certain elements of the Clone Wars era to reveal to them their own mistakes? Kenobi messed up, and may not have been ideal, but he did put Skywalker on the path THE FORCE, which is no more "all Light forever" than it is accepting of the Dark, intended him to be on, and while QG would have made him strong, and kept him good, could "good" Anakin do what was needed to remedy the Jedi side of the scales, and bring BOTH into balance?

    Before watchint video;
    It isnt that he coudlnt defeat maul, its that he had such a strong connection to the force that during his time meditating before final conflict with maul, i do beleive that qui gon saw and percieved hus whole death. It was destiny. And ao this is why his heart wast in it for final bout. He hesitated and then thats when maul gets infuriated and proceeds to go stabby stabby. But qui gon knew it was coning. That it was preventable.
    In that moment he was in a force conjunction and everything was connected in that moment.
    Truly a moment for causality.
