I was original member of The Left Banke - "Walk Away Renée" - "Pretty Ballerina" ....., As a kid, I saw The Ronettes live at The Brooklyn Fox on Murray The K's Rock & Roll show in 1963. "Be My Baby" became my favorite song ever, in my life. Anyway, three (3) years later, we had a top # 5 record. And this I swear is the truth. Be My Baby influenced a lot of great artists and even more great songs.
Hey Tom I really liked "Walk Away Renee" with your group`s version the best. I know the 4 Tops did a good job but the original is always best. Hope you are getting royalties for air play on those hits. You guys clicked.
Must be great memories to have. Especially since your groups songs were really great stuff. Always something to be proud of. "Walk Away Renee" is a classic.
Thanks for this video of Ronnie Spector and the Ronettes performing a live version of "Be My Baby". I had a crush on Ronnie Spector from the first time that I heard this song and when I saw Ronnie and The Ronettes perform on the "Ed Sullivan Show". At 76, Ronnie is still performing live shows and sounds as good as ever. Thanks again for this video!
Now this would be my definition for class. I've heard this track so many times now, it still gives me goosebumps. Plus the mischievous eyes of ronnie spector. Pure class.
Early '64 or so. I was 17 and in love with Ronnie. Probably still am secretly. It was her hip movement and the little dip when she sung "little baby"....
In 1980 I was 19 years old. I remember buying this record and Del Shannon's "Runaway" from a collector site I found in Goldmine magazine. They arrived on a Saturday morning and I was so excited I took the package and ran straight to my college library. Back then they had listening stations with headphones and turntables. I ran to the first one, put on the headset and tore open the package. "Be My Baby" and "Runaway" long before we ever had MP3s or downloads. RIP Ronnie. Thank you for being part of my youth
I photographed them performing at the Long Pond Inn at Greenwood Lake NY in 1965. I was underage to be inside an establishment that served liquor. Being a photographer had great benefits. Ronnie was and still is a major babe! I wouldn't hesitate for a second, to be her baby.
You think this is 'good?' I heard them in Detroit at Cobo Hall in '65 going 'full throttle' LIVE on stage!!! NOW ya' got sumpin'!!! The harmonies in 'refrain and call' would make your hair stand up...these girls had POWER in their voices! Many people think Ronnie's voice is 'thin and high' because they've only ever heard her from the 'old days' of 'tinny' radio speakers and record-players that had no treble or 'high' capabilities, usually a 'fader' was the best you could hope for! I assure all of you that Ronnie had spectacular vocal projection then...you could hear her thru a concrete wall, and I ain't kiddin'!
Put a big smile on my 84 year old face!

These ladies define the 60's girl group. The towering bouffants, matching outfits and the choreographed dancing make this 60's gold!!
ALSO CHIFFONS, TEMPTATIONS, SHIRELLES,
Conny.frencic
R.I.P. Ronnie ❣️❣️
Thank you for sharing your amazing voice and instantly recognizable singing style.
Every time I listen to this song, it brings the movie Dirty Dancing to my mind. Fantastic song. RIP Ronnie, you will be sadly missed.
Same
My family had some small roles in Dirty dancing. We spent our summers in Nc around Lake Lurer. One of my fav songs from the movie and from my childhood.
Thank you, RONNIE SPECTOR for doing your part to help save mankind with your gift and talent. Your music was part soundtrack to my once young life. May GOD bless your legacy and surviving family.
Those eyes..... wow !!!!!!
Fun fact: Cher was one of the artists who sang the backing vocals for this song.
Gaurav Dutta certainly wasn’t the girl on the right who clearly doesn’t know the words.
Crazy, considering Cher is only 20 years old.
Partially.
@@tulbascothethird9030 cause the words are so hard lol
@@unrhu 😂😂😂
se hubiera podido quedar callada y habria sido mejor
Brings tears to my eyes ... love this song and mostly HER VOICE. RIP Ronnie ... gone but NEVER, EVER FORGOTTEN!
Ronnie Spector lives near me.. I see her Shopping every once in a while.. lol.. its neat.. shes always friendly..
Really??? Wow! Does she still sing?
That's awesome
yes she still sings and does shows! and shes an amazing Mom!
My gosh, if I were to see Ronnie in person, I'd genuflect!
Teresa Kondrat It makes me very happy to read that.
This is the closest to perfection that has been seen, Phil Spector what a great producer!
He died recently
Great producer.....but deplorable human being
@@jackieashe9124 Sounds like Barry Gordy Jr. of Motown.
The "Wall of Sound" pretty much died in the late 60s, early 70s. So much for "perfection".
THIS IS ONE OF THE MOST, IF NOT THE MOST BEAUTIFUL SONG IN THE WORLD.
Jacqueline Burke , I agree. It was an era when girls can be girls, boy can be boys, and boys take care of girls!
Joseph Wu so it was an era of sexist gender norms?
t starr : Norms for the majority, not for all. Live and let live !
Joseph Wu I like your way of thinking :) blessings to you!
Jacqueline Burke they all were !!!!!
Nedra Talley… that young lady was vivacious AND she could really dance!
Ronnie Spector... just beautiful, and what a voice!
Rest in Peace Ronnie. You will be missed. Sing with the Angels now.
This was my favourite record when I was 8 years old. Used to love the Ronettes and they also did those great Christmas tunes..
ronnie spector may your journey home to the angels in heaven be luxurious thanks for all the great music and singing
Anyway, three (3) years later,
we had a top # 5 record. And this I swear is the truth. Be My Baby influenced a lot of great artists and even more great songs.
Thanks!
Hey Tom I really liked "Walk Away Renee" with your group`s version the best. I know the 4 Tops did a good job but the original is always best. Hope you are getting royalties for air play on those hits. You guys clicked.
Tom, you guy's were awesome!!!!
+ for 46248 = Thanks for the comment.
Must be great memories to have. Especially since your groups songs were really great stuff. Always something to be proud of. "Walk Away Renee" is a classic.
THESE GALS ARE ADORABLE...THEIR DANCING IS ADORABLE AND THIS SONG IS GREAT..... I COULD HAVE THIS ON LOOP UNTIL I DIE AND THAT WOULD MAKE ME HAPPY....
Ronnie Spector has the dreamiest eyes! With well over 24 1/2 million views, you have to admit it is still hugely popular.
Qué canción tan hermosa. Y qué chicas tan hermosas.
Thanks for the "Hearted" like!
I remember this evening at age 13. May the soul of Ronnie Spector live forever. May her memory be a blessing to all who knew and love her.
Now this would be my definition for class. I've heard this track so many times now, it still gives me goosebumps. Plus the mischievous eyes of ronnie spector. Pure class.
I agree with everything you wrote 200%
Early '64 or so. I was 17 and in love with Ronnie. Probably still am secretly. It was her hip movement and the little dip when she sung "little baby"....
RIP Ronnie. 🥰 Loved your voice and songs.
I feel in love with Ronnie as a teen like so many other guys she was and is such a flipping doll and what a unique voice ...much love to her always...
Paul Aiuto I’m 17 admire her. Very sexy.
Incredible voice
Su mirada es lo más atractivo y sexy que existe
Majestic. There are in the end two kinds of pop music: this record, and then everything else.
And lennon said "Before Elvis, there was nothing." Guess he never heard Billie Holiday or Hank Williams
The mad genius and his wall of sound was a revelation. Such a disastrous life - if only!!!
Loved her voice and persona. RIP Ronnie.
Ronnie Spector's voice and stage presence, was amazing, she didnt need all the glam and pyrotechnics that todays singers depend on.
Amen for that
I photographed them performing at the Long Pond Inn at Greenwood Lake NY in 1965. I was underage to be inside an establishment that served liquor. Being a photographer had great benefits. Ronnie was and still is a major babe! I wouldn't hesitate for a second, to be her baby.
Here upon news of her passing . RIP Ronnie, your memory will not fade and thinking has made you immortal.
Unimpeachable voice, thanks for the music Ronnie. RIP
